Getting Started

Hi,
I started golf a few months ago. I practice on a daily basis at home, range, and putting green. On day one I found that golf is dangerous for my body. I'm in my 40's with desktop job for life. So I also started yoga and light/medium weight training to prevent injury. I feel stronger yet I have pains everywhere. The most serious one is left upper rib cage due to full swings.
Any advice, suggestions, personal experiences to share?
Nutrition, supplements, workout, lifestyle, tips for golf, etc. all welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Are your calcium and protein intake enough? You need to figure out your vitamin C&D intake too. And is your posture correct when you do the full swing? Your rib 'pain' could be due to the DOMS on obliques as well.

We are no longer in our 20s when muscle pain and sports injury magically disappear after a nights rest. Listen to your body, if the pain is consistent, stop playing and rest. Depending on the injury , typically a couple of weeks. During MCO of 3 months, the pain from my golfer’s elbow finally went away. If you feel joint pain , take glucosamine. Always stretch and warm up before game. Salonpas is my best friend now

Your rib 'pain' could be due to the DOMS on obliques as well. I am addicted to animal protein. Lots of it for at least one meal everyday. Also enough CAL, C & D sufficient. My swing was pretty good up until the pain.. due to the pain my follow-through is bad now.

My body is different from my mind. Better focus on putting during rest then. Salonpas sounds awesome. Thanks for the tips!

If it's the former, see whether the pain goes away after 1-2 days as it could be DOMS since obliques are usually not specifically trained, if it's the latter, consult a doctor just to be sure because referred pain is a possibility. edit: If the pain is sharp/your obliques are stiff(can't rotate your shoulder), consult a doctor too because your obliques could be strained from the swing movement.
