no, just two of it, but will continue "trying" new car around.

What you've been looking at are far cry from each other from small city hatch to MPV.
Buying a car is big commitment, think carefully your major usage scenario first.

You have a girlfriend, I guess it is unlikely you will have more than 2 kids in next 10 years. Unless it is absolutely valid justification, don't get MVP.
You will miss a lot of fun creating memory with your girlfriend, especially post covid-19.

In next couple of years, it gotta be a lot of cuti-cuti Malaysia. Either family road trip, or just you two.
Imagine you drive to Mersing to Tioman, Dayang or Besut/Merang for Redang, Perhentian, Lang Tengah. Or drive up to Cameron, Genting. Or drive to Malacca and Muar. Or morning purposely go Ipoh for dimsum and go home. I don't know where you from, you get the idea.

Those MVP and Large SUV's 3rd rows are uncomfortable, passenger hardly can endure more than an hour. Furthermore, 7 people on a small 1.5L Natural Aspirated engine is very underpowered.
Not sure if you have other siblings, which I do. We don't sit more than 4 people in the car for family trip. We rather take extra cars since each of us can drive, all the elders can sit comfortable.

Also, for small family and short 3-4 days road trip, normal people don't usually need SUV to fit the luggages especially city SUV that never go off road. A sedan trunk is more than enough.
Look for something stable and comfortable long distance driving. Of course for this matter a wagon is the best, stability and comfort of a sedan, with the luggage space 80-90% of a SUV.

This is the car you will create a lot of memories before marriage, and able to continue with even more memories with the first born. It gotta be the car you miss the most when you stare blankly on the clear blue sky while your grandchildren playing around. Even if you got better, fancier car later.

i think for mpv is just boil down to 2 choices
1. exora -
pros= big space, comfortable, powerful, good drive. esc with premium model.
cons= cvt quirkyness, be mindful of the och hose. is already old platform, but hope jiaji will not be replacing this. maybe update engine and gb.

2. serena
pros = big space, practical design, sliding handrest become chair
cons = not powerful

3. end 2021 you will get alza replacement model. if u can wait. maybe jiaji also launch around that time.

why others not chosen:
alza = reliable, but no esc, unstable at higher speed, too small size
ertiga = out of production, sparepart etc, no esc
sienta = out of production, smallish, but comfortable, powerdoor
wish/stream = is already third/fourth hand when reach your hand. steering rack issue with toyota. stream a bit jumpy at the back
brv =too small, not comfy at the back, too expensive in my opinion
aruz/avanza = sampan.

if just 2 of you, consider get a van also.. convert to campervan.

If you're in no hurry, please wait for the corolla cross! The SUV, based on Toyota's TNGA platform. The TNGA platform (GA-C) has enabled the Corolla Cross to achieve high-quality performance, a comfortable ride, and outstanding quietness. In addition to its exceptional comfort, the Corolla Cross provides a spacious cabin, easy entry into and exit from the car, class-leading luggage space suitable for all scenarios, and safety equipment inherited from the Corolla series.
Corolla Cross features a powerful, sleek, and sophisticated appearance. It has a relaxed side view that hints at a spacious interior and underlines the car's status. The imposing and powerful front and rear, sturdy front fender underscore the SUV’s sense of energy. The contrast between the rear fenders and the cabin results in an impressive rearview.

Enjoy

Anyway if you have to pick between Aruz or BRV I would suggest Aruz. BRV NVH can drive u mad on highway, you will need ear plugs for that. LOL. Aruz is 20k cheaper but you are still buying a 1.5cc engine, main winning factor.

Personal opinion:

Nak mpv sedap bawak anak jalan2, go for power sliding door mpv.
Senang orang (dan barang) nak naik turun.
Tapi ni bajet kena rm180k ke atas la. Used maybe below rm100k.

Honda Odyssey
Kia Grand Carnival
VW Sharan
Mazda 8

Oh sienta pun power sliding door.

I concur, just realised that I've never used the innova for long distance travelling with the family. I only used it to carry stuff for work.

Exora , is either a love or hate affair.

Love because of its space, power (really power) , stability and size.
CVT , I love CVT , but of course need to get used to monotonous gear shifting.

Hate - Because of high FC driving around town. Pampered GB (so far mine is behaving well) .

if you say update the engine, that I agree.
What they can do is to change the CVT gearbox to something like a standard 4-5 speed auto gearbox. DCT with wet clutch would be perfect.

Punch should had learned from Honda, how they designed a CVT to handle monstrous torque from the 1.5 turbo engine and without using CVT cooler .

Then follow by increase the boost ; you and me know that Proton had to limit the boost pressure so that not to torture / destroy the CVT, otherwise the horsepower and torque can easily catch up with Honda's turbo.

from my old experience with preve', once the gb has been repaired, then everything went back to normal. CVT repair aren't that high too. less than 5k.
u need to prepare extra cash for a repair when consider second hand car. So..5k (worst case scenario) aren't that high.
