Losing your job especially as you get older is like a spiralling snowball.

In the context of this tered, it is funny to see these sohems come out of the woodwork only when they lost their job. When they were happily having their jobs, they never bothered to engage with anyone. Suddenly now you see them liking this "icon" and that "inspirational site".

Got to see the aunty in question before i draw the same conclusion. I think alot are just fanboys/girls and not actual retrenched victims. I know a few guys that got vss, one for a bout half a year already. They dont actually act like that. At the moment Linkedin is just a cheap market intelligence tool for me, i check out the profile of customers mainly to know if there are shared interests and bullet points for small talk.

I hope you don't experience losing jobs at older age.

Companies don't want to hire older workers asking for higher pay when they can get younger for cheaper.

Got savings doesn't mean no need to find new jobs if not ready/enough to retire.

I know an ex director of listed companies. Last director stint at 2011 where he resigned halfway before completing his term (usually this means asked to resign)

After that can't get a normal job dy, resort to doing mlm and part time college lecturer. Till today still doing part time and have family to feed. No amount of savings can prepare you for that.

"xx years ago I left my lucrative job to do this current job... " <- red flag for bullshit

This statement is rubbish.

Surely there is an amount, how do people retire then.

Well I hope you never have to experience that.
Losing income and job when it's not part of your plan is hard regardless of enough savings or not.

Because people plan for retirement (which is usually at 50+ even 60+)?

Im referring to mid 40s people losing their job, with loans to service and family to feed
