U are looking for electric or the stove one?
If electric just buy any cheap 1 will do.
Last time I bought a fancy Philips with all the mumbo jumbo function ngam2 2 years warranty end the fucker rosak. Tried to repair the just say spare part no longer produce. Pak yew.
So I just recently bought a cheap midea 2++ pressure cooker to cook rendang last raya. Works fine with much more simpler operation. Just turn the dial to how long u want to cook. No need fancy shits

Build quality not bad quite good. Fair for the price. Come with 2 pot. Pot is not as thick as the Philips one but the non stick is good. Cant say much as only used foe 2 months only.

But for that price worth my money la. If rosak also not that sakit hati.

It's better to buy stovetop pressure cooker, maintenance is much easier,
we been using Tefal for 10++ years now
only had to replace the silicone gasket 2-3 years ago
We bought it back in Europe though, dunno here got or not

Ikea has a cheap and good one
https://www.ikea.com/my/en/p/vaerdesaetta-p...steel-10286747/

I would stay clear off no-names, high pressure = high risk
any defect in manufacturing can cause boom-boom

If you are after an affordable one get an Elba or Midea. A better one would be a Philips or Tefal.

I started using an Elba and it lasted 5 years mainly used it to cook soups and stews. Recently bought a Tefal and very happy with it.

That's a reasonable reason, but still, haven't seen an electric one last that long
Especially with how electronics now are bangwall.gif

The electronics should be ok. Problem is the materials used for the pressure cooker, either can withstand the pressure and heat or not. Especially the exterior part.

Nahh man, sometimes they cut corners, using lead-free solder is one of it
The constant cycle between heat and cooling added with the vibration during steam release sometimes play with the soldered joints. Easy repair for me, but to some, the garbage bin will be the final destination

Nowadays the requirement is lead free, else cannot sell into market, especially Europe. Lead free has higher melting point than the leaded solder. So, it is more robust. It is poor soldering that cause the failure you mentioned.

However, I agree with you the normal stove top pressure cooker is less troublesome. You would not know if the electric one goes haywire and explode when you leave it at home on simmer. laugh.gif

Heating food is easy with microwave nowadays smile.gif

It is more annoying since without good soldering iron, it is hard to get good wetability when soldering. Melting temperature is higher than leaded solder. Me, coming from old school, yes it feels annoying unless you have right tool. biggrin.gif

philips have the option to buy stainless steel pot too.

Yes it is a high pressure pot. please stick to branded.
the silicone ring will need to be replaced after 2 years. buying odd brand means difficult to get spare part.

I bought this particular one.

Yes it is very easy to clean and I chose this particular model because it is guaranteed to be reparable for 10 years and it is ceramic coated instead of the teflon non stick.

If you have an extra laptop charger, that would be good enough
if not get a used one
19v 4.5a is the one I have, replace the jack with common barrel jack

Just check back properly, the power depends on the power supply voltage used

I think there an updated one using a usb c

I don't know about this iron. It is probably adequate for occasional hobbyist use, but if you are in repairing business that involves PCBA, then it probably not suitable.

It has temperature control but at what point the temperature is measured. The most important is the tip temperature and how fast the iron can recover the temp at the tip once in contact with component's lead during soldering.

I was reading the review and it looks like the power is more voltage driven than being constant current source device.

Looks like it is about average iron. The most important thing is that the availability of iron tip for different soldering purpose. You also need a good power supply for this. Here is the review I read about. Looks like the guy was comparing with Weller which is for pro use in general smile.gif

Note: I use normal iron only but with power boost for quick heat or soldering big metal surface that would be impossible with 30W iron. I'm just using Hakko laugh.gif

If you have an extra laptop charger, that would be good enough
if not get a used one
19v 4.5a is the one I have, replace the jack with common barrel jack

Just check back properly, the power depends on the power supply voltage used

I think there an updated one using a usb c

cool, thanks. the usb-c ones looks good.

As for the USB-C, the current is defined as 5A max at 5V. This means only 25W. I think this is not adequate.

I don't use solder iron very often. Just to fix anything broken at home only. If nothing broken it will stay in storage for years laugh.gif

Soldering capacitor or whatever can be tricky even if the component is small. If the PCB is paper base class like FR1 or FR2, the copper trace can easily be de-laminated. Too hot iron can damage it. Probably more common one is FR4 (Epoxy base). However, if the lead of component you are soldering goes to grounding on the PCB, the low wattage iron can't heat fast enough. Thus you tent to heat it longer. By doing so, even the FR4 PCB can be damaged (lifted pad). Furthermore, heating component lead too long (recommended like 3s) can damage the component especially the semi-conductor).

laugh.gif went to harvey norman, i end up with Philips HD2145, which is not in my shortlist sweat.gif

My list:-
1) Tefal CY638D
2) Tefal CY625D
3) Philips HD2137

My concern with (2) - the inner pot got riveted joints, which i will avoid at all cost.

For (3) - old tech but still very reliable. Manual release for pressure, which turn me off because i normally will have my food cook in the morning and go to work.

For (1) - Overbudget, but have all the function i needed. If compared to Philips HD2145, price is slightly higher, pot 5ltr only vs 6ltr. Functions is almost similar, but big difference is in the heating technology. CY638D using induction heating tech, while HD2145 using micro computer.

I end up choosing HD2145 cuz cheaper. The heating tech wont concern me much. And 6ltrs pot which is just nice for me.

Anyone has any experience with Tefal CY601D?
It’s on my shortlist with Philips HD2137. Can’t seem to decide between the two. Your thoughts are most welcome.

Regarding your bolded feedback, what will happen we didnt manual release the pressure? Impossible it will explode right, as i dun think philips will design something to dangerous.

For hd2145 that u bought, hows the review so far? Reliable? And easy to wash?

if not releasing pressure on time, then u can expect your food to be overcooked laugh.gif

HD2145, so far so good. very easy to wash. but need install the inner lid properly after u take it off to wash, or else the pressure will leaked out.

Oh man, then the manual release is really a turn off. There will be an indicator on the cooker if manual release need to be done? Or we need to agak2 the timing?

Ok, thanks. Still deciding between the 2137 and the 2145. So headache. I was actually leaning more towards 2137 as it is much easier to clean, but the manual release really turns off.

Do u consider tefal also initially? Hows the brand reliability compare to philips?

Philips is old, but definitely a reliable brand. I did consider tefal before, but specification n price wise is a letdown.

Tefal CY638D 5L pot.

Philips HD2145 6L pot.

Tefal > Philips in price.

I owned a tefal non stick pan, no matter how much care taken, the non stick material still wear off after one year. So... laugh.gif

Rivetted pot? Harder to clean. And at high pressure, i dont know if the joints will be able to withstand in longer term.

i am actually considering this two models also.

previously using the CY601 the cheapest model. look wise it is not as good as the two for sure. but bigger capacity and comes with manual release of pressure.

(2) how u know the inner pot got riveted joints? what is the prob with this?

(1) considering to get the CY638D.

I bought Cornell Red pressure cooker and it lasts till now, but the secret is to open the bottom cover and put a cheap silicone pad between the bottom of the pot and the plastic box which holds the circuits. With my super high usage my unit is still ok because the circuit doesn't overheat. You can do the same with Phillips or whatever model.

But if I'm buying now, I would buy a model with Induction Heating (IH). There is a good one on Taobao for 400 Yuan. Or buy the Korea brands like Cuchen but over 1000 ringgit. Induction doesn't make kitchen hot and save a bit of power.

By the way buying a induction soldering iron on taobao really open my eyes to the incredible technology it is. Instant red hot. Unfortunately they don't sell anymore....

This one, RM 1.80. Stick to the bottom of the plastic box with the circuit with UHU Glue. Cut to size. Basically those electric pressure cooker never has problems except circuit overheat. This video shows the box. Basically glue the mat between the white box & the pot bottom.

Yeah, my silicone gasket is about 6 years old, when it flops out, it makes it difficult to close the lid. So I think it is a flaw./ design feature haha.
Haven’t had any mishaps with failed dishes.
Just wished it was wider to get things in and out easier.
Tefal version, the gasket is inside the lid and no separate floating metal piece. Excited to getting it later.

Using pressure cooking time if 7 minutes for rice, plus the about 10 minutes to reach pressure. 17 minutes for 2 cups of rice.
A lot faster than 45 minutes with my Tefal rice cooker.

Using pressure cooking time if 7 minutes for rice, plus the about 10 minutes to reach pressure. 17 minutes for 2 cups of rice.
A lot faster than 45 minutes with my Tefal rice cooker.
