So the selling point of NEXT vs Live, is the cheaper call rate on NEXT (provided RM15.00/ month Cili Padi is not an issue for the subscriber), right?
*
Yes I believe so. And also the up to 2GB free data provided you renew your add-on pass on time (not sure if it includes time-based pass).

Based on what we know so far, Digi LiVE is better with the free 10GB Music and Video data every month. I believe you may also get 2GB free data as loyalty bonus too depending on how long you’ve been using their prepaid service for that particular number as what people reported here.

Currently Digi LiVE Prepaid is still on sale and one can MNP to this plan. It is not known yet if Digi NEXT will eventually replace Digi LiVE, but I hope not because Digi NEXT Prepaid is clearly a subpar plan.

By the way, the cooling off period for the Digi NEXT Prepaid is 60 days once your credit expired, versus 90 days for Digi Smart and Digi LiVE, 75 days for Digi Best.

From the looks of it, they are ready to phase out Digi LiVE soon as in the main T&C page, you can only find the T&C for Digi NEXT and Digi Abadi. For Digi LiVE, you may have to dig deeper.

Feel sorry for new Digi Prepaid subscriber once Digi LiVE is phased out, but for existing Digi Prepaid subscribers, stay on your current plan!

Every time my biGBonus add-on is renewed, I will be sent an SMS from Digi.

I believe this is for 30-day biGBonus subscriptions only.

I just chatted with Digi CS.

According to CS, there is no need to subscribe to an internet plan under NEXT to be able to make calls and SMS.

In fact, it is just like Live - still has basic internet (1GB per month) and same reload validity period depending on amount reloaded. So I can basically reload RM100 for 120 days validity to make calls and SMS WITHOUT any internet plan under NEXT at RM0.10/min and RM0.10/ SMS.

As with Live, any "Always Active"-marked internet plan I subscribe under NEXT will also extend the credit validity automatically.

So to sum up, the differences would be: -

1) cooling off period after credit validity expires - 60 days for NEXT vs. 90 days for Live. But why worry as you need to reload in any event if the line is your primary number.

2) no free 2.5GB/week youtube etc etc on NEXT - I didn't bother to activate this on Live in any event as it is speed-capped. Even if I have non-speed-capped internet plan to watch on TV instead, will still be bound by the speed-cap until 2.5GB finishes. 480p quality on HDTV is crap.

3) (may be, didn't ask this point) - no Friends n Family. Never bothered anyway.

4) (may be, didn't ask this point) - less choice of internet plans (could be either 30 days only and 1 day/ 1 hour plans left).

But as always, proceed with care. Sometimes CS can be wrong.

I've always been able to play 720p YouTube on Live.

Actually you can make calls and send SMS from any of the Digi old prepaid plans without subscribing to a pass too. Just that normal call from prepaid is quite expensive. It is RM0.30/minute from Digi Smart and Digi LiVE if not mistaken. I seem to remember Digi Best is cheaper and it has Friends and Family feature too.

Eh is it capped ? Because I don’t remember it being capped last time and I was able to watch YouTube on full HD completely relying on the free data as I did not have an active internet subscription plan. I last used the 2.5GB data more than a year ago though.

Ok fine, the Monthly 28 plan promoted in their leaflets is actually referring to the BiGBonus 28 plan.

Then how about the extra 2GB on-time top up awarded to only NEXT Prepaid pack users? Won't the other older prepaid plan users be pissed again or they're going to be compensated with something else such as loyalty quotas??

What is the whole point of introducing a new prepaid plan then? doh.gif
Indirectly forcing people with older plans to switch to the new and accept the even more ridiculous 32kbps data depletion clause which is basically "no internet"?

People on Digi Smart and Digi LiVE have something better. You should know too since you’re a Digi Prepaid User yourself.

Digi Smart was phased out a long time ago, replaced by Digi LiVE. Digi never forced people on legacy Digi Prepaid Plan to migrate unless one does so willingly.

No sane person on Digi Smart or Digi LiVE will migrate to Digi NEXT unless they really want the up to 2GB free quota for renewing their monthly pass on time.

At time of writing, Digi is still selling Digi LiVE Prepaid pack both in store as well as online on Digi website.

Why change something when it isn't broken but instead improve them even further?
Instead of introducing a totally new revamped plan, why can't they just throw in a offer which gives everyone  free 2GB as thank you offer for on time top-ups.

It's not cheap to reprint new SIM packs and marketing a new plan which isn't much different than the old you know.

Also I'm just a new Prepaid Live user which just transferred from Postpaid 2 months ago. I'm getting silly BOS offers which pushes "daily unlimited calls" when I'm already subscribed to BiGBonus 28.
Isn't that stupid? Why would I even buy something for nothing?

I can see so many people confuse. Let me explain what do I understand.

Summary from video.

1. Lighting Sim Business Model - Allow customer to choose prepaid number ( 100k numbers range) cost RM2/sim (dealer price ?)
2. 30 days high speed internet pack most affordable in the market.
3. All high speed internet plan for 30 days starts from RM15 (3GB + unlimited social media)
3. Enjoy HD content without speed caps.
4. No more reload and subscribe when purchase a new sim pack
5. Low commitment and fast activation time.
6. RM28/30 days plan ( 6GB data+ Unlimited Youtube + Unlimited social media) or ( 4Gb data + Unlimited call)
7. Sim card that always stay active with single validity. (30 days)
8. Affordable internet boosters ( top up RM3 extra internet can last to 30 days)
9. Flat rate for call RM 0.10/min and SMS RM0.10/sms

From info provided from Digi internal video, Digi will not print out new sim pack but provide new empty sim card just like postpaid. New Digi Next registration can choose prepaid number (100k choices) from Digi dealer system with the cost of RM2 each card ( dealer pay?) and no longer need keep the starter pack with fix allocated numbers just like Digi Live (RM8).
To subscribe new Digi Next prepaid, user can choose Chili Padi Unlimited ( 3 choices) or BigBonus Unlimited (3 choices) with 30 days validity based info from Digi website. There will be no credit RM5 ready just live Digi Live (RM8). For new Digi Live to subscribe the plan, they need to purchase Digi Live sim pack (RM8) with free RM5 credit and need top up RM10 to get total of RM15 phone balance and subscribe the lowest plan start from RM15 (stay active for 30 days instead 15 days)
Digi Next new sim card registration can save RM3 by directly subscribe plan with lowest start from RM15. After 30 days validity, user need to top up and renew the plan again but Digi Next provides free call credit 100 min (1 hour 40 min) call Digi-Digi and free IDD call minutes each week reload your phone with min of RM10.
If you choose not to renew the plan, you will be barred from outgoing call but still able to receive incoming call and Digi will terminate line service if there is no reload or plan purchase activity for 60 days.

The different Digi Live prepaid and Digi Next prepaid are the renewal bonus and reload bonus ( not sure with the internet boosters). I am not sure with the call rate for Digi Live is it same with Digi Next. So, if current Digi Live prepaid user would like to enjoy the Digi Next prepaid benefits, they have to change to Digi Next.

For all Digi subscribers, they will know that Digi will not upgrade better value to their obsolete plan for hoping their customer to stays loyalty with Digi. They prefer subscribers to migrate or change plan for postpaid and prepaid based to their current value plan. If those feel that the obsolete base plan more suitable compared to the new base plan, they can stay with that plan forever and Digi will not force their subscribers to change plan by void the plan from the system.

For the Digi Live prepaid, I think all the new unregistered sim packs will be expiring in year 2021 ( forgot which month). I believe after that, it will join the history like Digi Best Prepaid, P2P etc...

The last time I activated it was in July 2019. The speed was terrible and I thought it was my phone/ esim problem/ location. So I took my friend's physical SIM and tried on my phone and was able to watch at 1080p with no buffering at all. Then switched back to my esim (with 2.5GB free youtube/ week activated) at the same location on the same phone, the buffering returned again. Ended up I had to temporarily switch out to postpaid to get rid of it as CS said no way to de-activate once activated laugh.gif

Ever since then I ported out and ported back into Digi and never bothered to activate it anymore.

Actually, the add on plans, there is no changes for Cili Padi and BigBonus, they are still maintain the same package and value, just that the sim pack model has changed.
Digi Live prepaid correct me if I am wrong, Digi Live is to provide value entertainment where user pay low price for more data Gb, while Digi Next prepaid is to provide user to maintain their line stay active without top up RM 30 stay active for 30 days and no cap high speed internet. With minimum RM15 plan, you can stay active for 30 days + 3GB high speed data + unlimited social media. Nowadays those using prepaid really using less phone call + SMS. All communicate via whatsapp and wechat. This Digi Next do not cap the high speed data on internet and unlimited data plan that I think it is far better than those cap at 3Mb speed.
Since mostly high usage data consumption apps are offered unlimited ( FB, Youtube, social media), I think Digi is really wise to come out this Digi Next new sim pack.

Most people are greedy when heard unlimited internet data and call at lower price of RM35 ( cap speed ) because that is something new to prepaid user and become viral everyone also want to get it but do they really understand their monthly usage? How much data they used in their mobile and how long they call in a month?

I just realized that my highest data consumption (mobile and wifi) is FB, followed by whatsapp, wechat and youtube. For phone call usage is very less to use except use company phone more frequent call customers. Maybe you all can check your data usage info in your phone to see which apps that consume lots of data usage. For me I think this Digi add on plans are more suitable for me and far cheaper compared to postpaid plan i use.

Actually, the biggest selling point of this new plan is validity and data booster. All internet passes for this plan come with Always Active, including daily & weekly passes as opposed to other Digi prepaid plans where only certain passes come with Always Active. One can purchase data pass even when the line is barred (inactive) provided there is enough balance in credit and that would extend the validity again. This is not possible with the other Digi prepaid plans. There is also Monthly Plan Booster that is unique to this plan. Good for non-heavy users to add more data only when needed.

The downside is this plan does not come with free video data or weekend data that the older plans do.

ya, ppl don't simply change from LiVE to NEXT plan.
must do research more first, and choose most suitable plan

some weakness discovered:-
1) can't switch back to LiVE directly
2) no more Box of surprise in menu sad.gif , maybe I'm wrong but until today I don't see any BoS as a NEXT plan user
3) no free weekly High Speed Internet for Video and Music
4) no free Calls and SMS to 6 Buddyz™
5) grace period will apply for 60 day ONLY, whereas LiVE got 90 days

NEXT plan benefits I saw:-
1) 10 sen/call & sms cheaper than LiVE 30 sen/call & 20 sen/sms
2) all Internet purchases support Always Active
3) Monthly Plan Boosters available RM3=1.5GB
4) free 1GB basic internet, double of LiVE plan
5) Talktime Extend available
