QUOTE(underscore_lee @ Aug 8 2021, 02:58 PM) Hi guys, im still new at this so let me know if this is a stupid question - im using RK61 with red switches, and thinking of buy new keycaps to make the typing sounds nicer (more 'muted'? ASMR kind). Looking at this honey & milk keycaps. Want to know if changing the keycaps would make a difference in the sound: https://shopee.com.my/product/385045247/648...56-1628405738.9Thanks for your advice. I use those. Definitely a better sound than stock Filco keycaps. More thonk when typing.

Just swapped my Gateron Blues on my Keychron C1 to mostly Akko Matcha Greens with some of the other colors mixed in to test out the feel. Kailh Box Whites on the Esc/Spacebar keys. Dunno how I lived until now with just Cherry Browns » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I'm thinking of getting this to replace the stock keycaps which suck some massive dick. I'm happy with the quality of the switches. Really nice box and packaging by Akko This post has been edited by red streak: Aug 15 2021, 06:42 PM

New Akko Midnight finally arrived from Chaiina. Not sure which board to put this on yet. Was originally thinking of putting this on the Keychron but there's so many extra keycaps just sitting there doing nothing The packaging and the box it came in are so good. Surprised they went through all this for a relatively cheap keycap set but then again this isn't a 2 year GB Only took two weeks to arrive. You can pay around the same price for a "cloned" GMK set and they still ship it in some cheap plastic tray versus this 3 layered package with a nice hard pvc case with indents inside to lock the keycaps in so they don't flop around (other than the spacebars in that pic ) or get damaged. Would definitely buy again

Haven't seen this mentioned here but our local mech outfit has a GB going on for two frankenswitches, Harimau (tactile) and Penyu (linear) until the end of the month. Linkage: https://www.rebultkeyboards.com/products/-g...nd-penyu-switch

QUOTE(danny_sp15 @ Aug 27 2021, 03:27 PM) Looks nice! How much did you pay for this set? RM168 damage not including shipping. Also has blue keycaps as well, not included in that pic lol. Akko is actually on Shopee so you can get their official stuff cheaper than 3rd party local resellers: https://shopee.com.my/Akko-Midnight-178-Key...5202.9380734658Buying Akko switches from them directly is way cheaper. But the trade off is the 2 week waiting time. I'm thinking of getting some switches along with the cables next time. I really wanna try the Ocean Blue and Rose Reds. QUOTE(danny_sp15 @ Aug 27 2021, 03:51 PM) Yeah, I ordered from that Akko shopee store as well. Just wondered if sifu got lobang to find cheaper. Haha. But the price is very good already actually when compared to Akko US official price, which can be almost double. I'm really intrigued by SA profile. Very retro looking. The WoB like yours especially looks exactly like my old typewriter. Does it wobble like people usually say? Yeah AKKO keycaps on Amazon $59.99. They always like to ketuk whitey haha. ASA profile is slightly different from SA iirc. Best user comparison I've seen is that it's SA profile with OEM height. https://en.akkogear.com/faq/akko-keycaps-profile-comparison/ I haven't actually put them on yet since I got them yesterday. Thinking of doing the foam mod on my Keychron so might as well one shot everything. Might do it on Sunday assuming I don't just put it on my Filco tomorrow at work.

QUOTE(potatobanana @ Aug 27 2021, 08:41 PM) Is there any software method to solve keyboard ghosting? So far it's impacting my gaming experience. Any advice? Sounds like a membrane problem. What kind of shitty mech did you get that has ghosting?

QUOTE(niakulah @ Aug 27 2021, 08:38 PM) Just realised some of their ASA sets are very generous with extra keys. The ASA Macaw comes with practically a full set of teal accent mods. [attachmentid=10960301] And their ASA Wave comes with a full set of green accent alphas. [attachmentid=10960302] If you buy both, you'd have enough keys to fill 3 full size boards! There's a fuckton of keycaps including with their sets and they're relatively cheap compared to pre-order and wait 2 years 3 letter brands My Akko Midnight set has 178 keycaps.

My Keychron C1 with Akko CS Matcha Green Switches along with some randoms others. Just slapped the Akko Midnight keycaps on it last night to spice up the look. Haven't done the Foam Mod yet so I have to take them off again anyway but I was too impatient to wait to see if they'll work before releasing the payment to Akko tomorrow. F & J keys are slightly lower than the others. Checked the switches underneath and they're fine. Even mashed them in properly to get them to level out. Thinking of ordering Boba U4Ts next month to test them out Anyone have any experience using those?

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 29 2021, 02:25 PM) it might be related to the material and thickness of the tape/foam that you use for the mod. mushiness can happen if the foams applied are relatively thick. i use eva foam, 0.5mm, compressed by force to make it relatively compact and thinner before use. the thickness after that should be around 0.3mm. to help reduce rattles, you should also tune the wire so that it's as straight as possible, with both tips pointing to the same angle. you might also need to apply some foams between wire and pcb, so as to support the wire. f and j keys are home keys for qwerty layout. usually they have more dished top surface, or a tiny bar at the bottom of top surface. They have the bumps but they're also lower than every other key in that row which is a little annoying. Whole row is smooth and then suddenly it drops in height when it comes to F and J. Other than that I'm happy with this keycap set. Just wish they had more unique novelties.

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 29 2021, 03:15 PM) ok, but that's the purpose of 'abnormal' height, i.e., as indicator to users that those are home keys. check your set and see if they provide you with the alternative f and j keys. No other set has these that I'm aware of. Even the China clones have uniform height and so did the stock Filco caps. I'm not a big fan of the design choice but it's not a big deal. Just my OCD slapping me inside every now and then when I glance at the keyboard. The bumps were enough to differentiate the "guide" keys for touch-typing. QUOTE(niakulah @ Aug 29 2021, 04:01 PM) Thanks bro, was almost poisoned into buying some Feker Pandas a few hours ago. Managed to resist...for now. Just did the foam mod on my Keychron after sitting on my fat ass for awhile. Was easier than I thought to take this apart and put it back together. At least it still works Managed to improve the sound while typing. Now the only question is what keyboard to buy next?

QUOTE(krayden @ Aug 31 2021, 09:28 PM) Lol no thanks. Tired of group buys. KAT Space Dust is my absolute last preorder and wait and even that I might actually refund and put the money into a higher tier board instead. Some guy was flexing his mech to me the other day and I actually happened to google it and it was a first edition Mode Eighty and fully assembled it was $800. He then told me it was his cheapest board and he had more expensive ones. Some people really bangsawan. I'll probably considering getting either: 1. Akko Mod 003 (I'm starting to fall in love with the 1800 layout and this is gasket mounted too!) 2. Keychron Q1 Or absolute last choice due to the recent QC issues: 3. GMMK Pro

QUOTE(niakulah @ Sep 1 2021, 07:26 AM) That's looks very interesting! Have you found any sound tests or reviews for this board? It hasn't been released yet so probably not. Both the Akko Mod 003 and 004 are still in the preorder phase. They release later this month. I'm like 70% favoring this over the others. QUOTE(zorbyss. @ Sep 1 2021, 11:04 AM) I preordered Q1 as well, hope it turns out good (with mods). it'll be my first 'custom board' but has been doing mods and custom switches for a while now. same here. haven't never gotten into custom mech because of the never ending waiting game during group buys. which is why i never got into GMK caps as well (partly because they're extremely expensive). Looking hard at Keychron Q1 as well but I need the knob lol. GMMK would have been a sure buy if it wasn't for the recent QC issues.

QUOTE(bansai @ Sep 1 2021, 09:57 PM) you keep mentioning on the gmmk pro qc issues. What exact issue are you referring to? Do you not browse reddit bro? They drowned their current batch in lube. People have been having to take theirs apart just to dry or swap out the stabilizers and pads out. https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboard..._pro_the_final/

QUOTE(bansai @ Sep 3 2021, 11:13 AM) Kinda disappointed with their marketing on the rotary encoder on the q1. Supposed to be an add on and such a big deal was made out of it. Now, seems like in order to add the encoder, it has to be a different board. Wait for real? Got a sos? QUOTE(niakulah @ Sep 3 2021, 02:36 PM) Sounds pretty good for a tray mount. Courtesy of the top and bottom foams I guess. So now doing pre-order of CP/1800 form factor. 003 is gasket mount. 004 is tray mount for USD20 cheaper. Honestly I kind of need the numpad so I'm leaning towards the Mod 003. It's a lot harder to run some numbers when I have to look at the keyboard to type them in.

QUOTE(bansai @ Sep 3 2021, 09:49 PM) Go read the IC on geekhack. It was supposed to be presoldered on the board. And you can take a look at the q1 product page. Small hidden statement that says you need to change the whole pcb to use the encoder Oh right, the change the PCB thing to fit the knob. I mean even if you stopped to think about it, from a technical standpoint it makes no sense that the current slot for a switch would be compatible with a knob. It's why people were waiting for the Knob version. The GMMK Pro looks good primarily because of it.

Someone just modded their current gen Q1 to use it. Randomly just opened facebook to see this on my timeline.
