right smile.gif

that's why lubing them properly with the right lube will give relatively better experience compared to stock.

I used the automotive one, should be okay right?

it feels nice though... i can't feel friction. is there special lube/grease for mechanical switches?

it's not ok if it's petroleum-based. it might melt plastic parts in a switch. use plastic-safe type.

after testing out a number of them, i stick to krytox gpl series for switches and stabilizers, mainly because of its quality consistency and very long shelf life. (more than 10 years)

I stored the grease in a plastic container, it looks okay though..... How to tell if it's petrolueum-based?

you should be able to get information from its specifications printed on the container, or just look it up online.

lol... i got a bit from a car workshop, store it some transparent container... it's green... i remember that the guy say that grease can withstand high temperature, etc etc.

i applied on many plastics before, it doesn't look it corrodes the plastic , so i guess it's safe. smile.gif

haha ok then.

as long as it's plastic-safe then it's good, or else you will go through the whole process of replacing all lubed switches when shit happens.
*
Okay... it should be good for many years.

the one i have was from taobao, with single-sided adhesive. its thickness is 0.25mm.

edit: the item link at taobao is invalid/no more now. keywords that i used are 加厚 特氟龙高温胶带 隔热耐高温胶布 封口机真空机配件 0.25厚 (note that not all are with single-sided adhesive)

just curious, what are you guys talking about? the stabilizers thingy?

My spacebar rattles a little if i tap on both ends.... the switch for the Spacebar is okay though.

Earlier it was just numpad area...

now it spread to more switches, shakehead.gif then did more desoldering on alphabets switches and symbol switches and lubed them with grease... now it should be good for a long time. rclxms.gif

Hi anyone know who does mechanical keyboard repair?
Mainly to remove and solder few switches. Possible at KL region got any recommendation?
*
buy a soldering kit, and switches ? (they are pretty cheap , and you save a lot of money and hassle sending the keyboard to the Repairman , and then wait for repair usually 2 - 3 days (i think) , then another 1 - 2 days for courier to deliver it back to you? or COD but need to be at weekend, or after the Repairman finished his day job...?

I at first also tried looking for people to help remove and replace switches, the charges are fine, but you can never know which switch later start to act up after got the initially switches you found are double chattering. at first it was only 5 switches, then later it increased to other area (alphabets) and just yesterday (spacebar). Before was only the numpad area, only numbers, then later the *, - , + , and ENTER, including NUM LOCK, then /. it kept increasing, so i bought the switches from Shopee, bought the soldering kit too, get some scrap board , practice on desolder and solder, and when i am cofident, i open up my keyboard , Logitech G613, and desolder the switches and re-solder the new switches.

Save up the workmanship cost, they charge per switch about RM9 if you provide the switch, and RM15 if you didn't provide the switch, mine was for ROMER-G.

''Typically for Cherry type switches it's RM10/switch (parts and labour) but I do have a minimum charge of RM25 coz it takes roughly an hour to open up the keyboards and put them back together after assembly. So typically it's RM25 for 1-2 switches, and RM30 for 3 switches etc'' , said by GRexer (Puchong)

as for KL, i think will be around that price range too...

what keyboard btw?
