QUOTE(Maxieos @ May 21 2022, 05:17 AM) Since I am not able to test out all the key type , which switch have more tactile bump feel among the list ? I'll go for harimau, glorious panda, moyu black I tried mx brown but it almost as linear when comparing with membrane keyboard. And of course esp. my frankenswitch hahaha This post has been edited by cruzzmz: May 21 2022, 03:24 PM |

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ May 23 2022, 08:46 PM) Owl stabs is all hype no substance. Selling point is being touted as the solution to bent wires, said to be the cause of ticking, by using what they call "liquid meta" wire that reverts back into shape like a memory foam therefore never "bending". Except for when it comes out of the factory "bent" or "not straight", but because it always "reverts back into shape" it will always be "bent" and not fixable. nice ... thanks for sharingCherry clip-in = OG Cherry, always good if you know what you are doing, need to clip legs, cheapest of them all i believe C3 = Comes in a wide variety of colours to match your build, cheap, widely available, v3 comes with a lot of additional goodies to mod your stabs Durock/Everglide/JWK = Better than C3 from my experience but more expensive, widely available, could benefit from additional modding (holee mod) but downside is mushiness if not done perfectly, ticking do come back in some cases (without holee mod) after some time TX clip-in = Stem is made of double shot with TPU mixture (soft material) on the inside to minimise rattle, think of it like a holee mod but built in without the mushy feeling of holee mod, clip-in is easier to install, not as readily available as quite new and still hype so it sells out but I've seen it remain in stock for weeks after restock Staebies = Tightest tolerance of all, probably the best stab to use without lube, it will be tick free even with just a little lube, due to it's extremely tight tolerance there are reports of cracked keycap stems (very rare) and incompatibility with warped keycaps, bent PCBs and long pole stem switches. Biggest downside is it's almost always never available since it's technically still in beta and is the most expensive. My go-to right now is TX because it is the best imo among stabs i can actually get my hands on. btw not all above is the screw in type right? |

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ May 23 2022, 09:28 PM) Only Cherry and TX are clip-ins, the rest are screw-ins, but they are all PCB mounted. I believe there are Cherry screw-ins too but I've never tried them. And for your information clip-ins doesn't necessarily mean worse, plenty of people still prefer clip-ins for its ease of use. thanksi think i saw a seller sell cherry screw in somewhere but to get the clips in need to change the board right ... up until now i am using clip ons keebs This post has been edited by cruzzmz: May 24 2022, 11:24 AM |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ May 24 2022, 04:08 PM) on shopee i spotted a mkb for only Rm60 you can try this for testing how mkb feels likeMechanical Keyboard Gaming 87 Key Machanical Keyboard TKL Tenkeyless Ergonomic RGB For Laptop Computer PC K550 ![]() is that the cheapest available mkb? in comparison a gaming rubberdome keyboard roughly around RM14.90 So you telling me u can't bump up ur budget to get a mkb over rubberdome at this price point gap? come on but once you have tried the mods than it is a diff story ... as for me diff switches make me love the keebs more. Call it a hobby and you will spend a lot on it hahaha and later i will venture to Q1 .. maybe a bit late but worth it This post has been edited by cruzzmz: May 24 2022, 05:01 PM |

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ May 26 2022, 08:11 AM) My brother bought (and in the end passed to me) one of those budget cheapo dunno what brand models. Nice enough to use at the start (got knobs and everything and sub RM100 price) but by the time I got it already got bouncing keys etc. QC probably non existant. My current RK68 is SO much sturdier and reliable. RK even though cheap but reliable ... my second keeb was RK |

QUOTE(takenoko @ May 28 2022, 04:38 PM) huh... i thought the latest updated info is that the main mode of covid transmission is no longer thru direct surface contact, but thru aerosols & airborne transmission instead? so as long as i don't touch my face after touching the keebs and before sanitising, should be less risky than being in a crowded & badly ventilated closed space... then build your pref lah ... maybe can try changing the bottom or the stem or can try a lighter spring ?? but anyways! i've decided to go for linears haha. wondering if sifus here have any recs for budget linears with a similar sound profile to akko matcha greens? i really like the thock, but not so much the weight and the little bounce from the progressive spring. their vintage whites are closer to my preferred weight, but those aren't as thocky just my 2 cents heck i like building switch hahaha using penyu on a Q1 now .. typing feel quiet nice |

QUOTE(takenoko @ May 28 2022, 05:06 PM) lol i'm very new to this, so not at the stage where i'd be modding things yet. also no time at the moment to get too into the hobby you want to try ??? pay me to do also can hahaha ... but it is consists of 3 switches so it is a bit RM hungry hahahabut as mentioned, the keycaps also will contribute to the thock and also the board This post has been edited by cruzzmz: May 28 2022, 05:54 PM |

QUOTE(horns @ May 29 2022, 11:01 AM) my point was just 'be careful' agreei guess the better option for you is to get both and do spring swap. they are not expensive. from specs, after-market springs with the exact weight and type of stock springs for both might not be easy to get. both can get like RM 45 per 45 pcs ... so may need 90 each .. then swap and lube |

How much grease is just enough to put on stabs? ... since too much will make it mushy right?
any thoughts? |
