Hi guys, as mentioned in my topic description, is it a good idea to set up a 2k monitor and 4k monitor together? Currently using GTX 1080Ti, One will be for gaming and one just for browsing. Current monitor in use is Acer Predator XB271HU monitor, at 1440p and 144Hz refresh rate. Im planning to get a second monitor because while playing game, i like to alt-tab to browse fb or lowyat before my game start. lol. Or should I stick with a 1080p secondary monitor? And also if I set up on 2k and one 4k monitor, will it stress my GPU while gaming? lol. Using zotac 1080 Ti mini btw... haha.. It has a good history of being about 80 degrees while gaming.. haha. but the current games i play doesnt affect it much.. Currently playing CSGO and Word of Tanks only..

EDIT: So I have already purchased a 2nd monitor. And now... another problem which I foresaw is the space. Both my monitor's stands are taking up too much space. And my speakers aren't helping either, the monitors are touching my speakers and its fairly annoying. lol. Any one has suggestions for a good dual monitor mount? And priced less than RM300 is possible.. Been searching and I only found RM300 and above. Too painful for my wallet at the moment.. :\ Thanks. biggrin.gif

GPU power aside, I would prefer the same resolution, in fact the same model and brand when it comes to multi monitor. You will get stressed when the monitors are different than each other. Like this one only has few % difference in calibration, but in the long run, you might hate it.

Hmm. Thats what I thought, but, looking at the price now, its still a whooping RM2.5k online price! hahaha. Im not gonna spend that much on a 2nd monitor set up bro! As much as I agree with you, honestly. Sigh. I was considering to just get a 1080p 27" monitor just so i can browse and watch movie while gaming if I want to. hahaha....

I don't recommend that monitor due to TN panel - you might want to look for a 27 inch 1440p IPS panel for this instead icon_idea.gif

Also 4K at 28 inch is going to look very small due to Windows scaling icon_idea.gif

Just stick to something like a 27 inch 1440p IPS panel over a 28 inch 4K TN panel instead tongue.gif

TN panels on a resolution like this is not acceptable IMHO icon_idea.gif

Actually found an old acer model on lowyat for 2nd hand price at RM750. haha.. Dealing with seller now.. Hehe. biggrin.gif

Edit: 32in a bit too large. My table now have 1 27in and 1 24in. both different system. xD Adding a 32in would make the monitor to have insufficient space to put. hahaha

if the 27 inch is 1080p, can consider selling it and replace it with a 27" 1440p biggrin.gif

was using 27 inch 1080p at work and now using 27 inch 1440p at home and the extra clarity is visible indeed

Hehe. Yess. Should I make that to primary display? Or stick with my 1440p as primary? 😅

I'd just put that as primary display and tone down the resolution when you wanna game

then day to day ips should look better since 4k content not that rampant yet (still primarily 1080p content), but if you watch a lot of 4k content then the 4k monitor could look better in 4k video but less so in others
