Hi guys, as mentioned in my topic description, is it a good idea to set up a 2k monitor and 4k monitor together? Currently using GTX 1080Ti, One will be for gaming and one just for browsing. Current monitor in use is Acer Predator XB271HU monitor, at 1440p and 144Hz refresh rate. Im planning to get a second monitor because while playing game, i like to alt-tab to browse fb or lowyat before my game start. lol. Or should I stick with a 1080p secondary monitor? And also if I set up on 2k and one 4k monitor, will it stress my GPU while gaming? lol. Using zotac 1080 Ti mini btw... haha.. It has a good history of being about 80 degrees while gaming.. haha. but the current games i play doesnt affect it much.. Currently playing CSGO and Word of Tanks only..

EDIT: So I have already purchased a 2nd monitor. And now... another problem which I foresaw is the space. Both my monitor's stands are taking up too much space. And my speakers aren't helping either, the monitors are touching my speakers and its fairly annoying. lol. Any one has suggestions for a good dual monitor mount? And priced less than RM300 is possible.. Been searching and I only found RM300 and above. Too painful for my wallet at the moment.. :\ Thanks. biggrin.gif

GPU power aside, I would prefer the same resolution, in fact the same model and brand when it comes to multi monitor. You will get stressed when the monitors are different than each other. Like this one only has few % difference in calibration, but in the long run, you might hate it.

Hmm. Thats what I thought, but, looking at the price now, its still a whooping RM2.5k online price! hahaha. Im not gonna spend that much on a 2nd monitor set up bro! As much as I agree with you, honestly. Sigh. I was considering to just get a 1080p 27" monitor just so i can browse and watch movie while gaming if I want to. hahaha....

both can be same or different, nonissue.

Great! I am eyeing on an old monitor, Samsung UE590 28" 4k monitor. Haha.. Now on sale for RM825. Seems like a good deal. hahaa.. Or is there any other brands recommended? Preferably below 800 if possible, not 4k also can. 2k also im okay already.. xD haha..

I don't recommend that monitor due to TN panel - you might want to look for a 27 inch 1440p IPS panel for this instead icon_idea.gif

Also 4K at 28 inch is going to look very small due to Windows scaling icon_idea.gif

Oh, but just for browsing and movies wor.. Lol. And the PC is inside my room, so occasionally I'll lie down and watch my movie hahaha.. Hmm. IPS not more expensive ah? LOL. If can below RM1k lo.. lol. hahaha..

Just stick to something like a 27 inch 1440p IPS panel over a 28 inch 4K TN panel instead tongue.gif

TN panels on a resolution like this is not acceptable IMHO icon_idea.gif

Hahaha... fit mt budget? Hahaha.. below rm1k preferably.. hahahha..

Viewsonic got one (can check shopee),
999 for 1440p 32 inch
if willing to splurge more then 1385 for 4k 32 inch
*
Actually found an old acer model on lowyat for 2nd hand price at RM750. haha.. Dealing with seller now.. Hehe. biggrin.gif

Edit: 32in a bit too large. My table now have 1 27in and 1 24in. both different system. xD Adding a 32in would make the monitor to have insufficient space to put. hahaha

if the 27 inch is 1080p, can consider selling it and replace it with a 27" 1440p  biggrin.gif

was using 27 inch 1080p at work and now using 27 inch 1440p at home and the extra clarity is visible indeed

Hahha. Oh i didnt mention, its 28" 4K monitor. hahaha. XB281HK. xD hahaha

Hehe. Yess. Should I make that to primary display? Or stick with my 1440p as primary? 😅

if in doubt, turn on both and do a side by side comparison  brows.gif

Haha. Obvious difference is 4k monitor is TN panel. My 1440p is IPS. I hope the colour dont run off that far. Haha..

then day to day ips should look better since 4k content not that rampant yet (still primarily 1080p content), but if you watch a lot of 4k content then the 4k monitor could look better in 4k video  but less so in others
*
Hahaha. So does that mean i buy that monitor and use 1440p also better? hahahahha... and maybe i'll stick 1440p IPS as my primary display. xD

Personally I prefer:
IPS > TN
Glossy > Matte

I have a 1440p matte IPS monitor but if I compare to it to my glossy 1080p IPS monitor, I'd go for the glossy one because it looks crisp even though the 1440p monitor has a higher resolution.

But then for the glossy monitor if sunlight will directly shine to your monitor from the window then don't really recommend it.

you just put it side by side and you'll know what to do  laugh.gif  I'd recommend you get some monitor arm for it instead so you can move it around which is good for watching movies
*
hmm.. the thing is, i think my acer predator xb271hu is not equipped to be mounted on the wall.. xD There's no info on it at their website.. haha.. And my box is up in the attic. hahaha. lazy go and get it. I may need the arm, because then it will be higher than my current speakers, because now my monitor and speakers are at the same level, hence wasted space there.. xD

There is vesa mount https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/31826fe

I own the monitor one gen before yours so I know  biggrin.gif

27 inch can get any monitor arm, if 32 then need heavy duty ones, not all suitable
*
Whoa.. WHich brand of mount you bought? I have been looking but not sure which one is good.. lol. I now have 1 27" and one 28" monitor.. haha. already purchased it. biggrin.gif hehe. Good price and awesome monitor. biggrin.gif

You can try North Bayou F80, it is good, I'm using it on my other 23 inch monitor, the 27 inch cannot put monitor thanks to the ikea table design (but I can put more stuff so that is good in another way)

you can tilt it from horizontal to vertical, can move up down, front back, and can move around I think 270 degree.

Ohh. Nice.. Haha. Does that mean I need to buy 2? Or do they have dual one? haha.. laugh.gif
