been super many years never post here.
since MCO got time to play a while

did this cooling mod to my workstation, to bring down GC and NVME temperatures
NVME was going at 50°C at idle, gotta do something

GC making annoying sound, fan doesnt run below 57°C, suddenly it will kick in and bring down the temperatures back down to 50°C.
so that thing will spin fast and slow a few times in an hour.

this blower fan is quite powerful, so i mod it to run at USB 5V instead of 12V.
use the air to directly cool the NVME without any heatsink

taped this side to cover the conductive metal side since sandwich it between heatsink and GC.

put there in between GC and CPU heatsink to blow directly onto NVME.
do note that whatever normal fan is super hard to fit and the pressure not strong enough, only blower type will do its job well

GC originally looks like this

stripped down everything, then slap a 120mm fan on it. i used glue gun to stick the fan onto the fan shroud

results are quite good, NVME now runs same temperature as traditional HDD.

i tried sticking tiny heatsinks on NVME but doesnt work great, only an active cooling can do its job
even GC dont make whiny noise when full load during gaming

Good mod, my NVMe on passive cooling only. Might try this.

Hey @AllnGap

This RAM cooler you built for me in year 2008. Till now still working.

Wouldn't look out of place in my new rig still in year 2020. Pretty useful in my RAM OC.

Those Sunon maglev fans are amazing. I bet you have never thought they will last so long.
I only resoldered the wire to 1 of the LED which got dislodged. My soldering skills are sloppy. Never achieved your level of soldering skills though.

I wish you make RGB versions of these stuffs that last as long.
