When attending an interview, it is really a turn off it the ONLY person who interview you is HR.

I prefer the HOD to interview me instead, as they know the job scope and the technical terms related to the position.

HR people on the other hand, most of the time, they don’t know anything. You tell them one simple thing like SQL server also blur2.

2 reason... either the HOD is too busy or it also means that the task you are going to get is less important and usually any tom dick and harry in the same field can do it

In my place, first interview is done by both HR and me, but separately. HR don't know what I ask, I also don't know what HR ask. Both have the right to reject the candidate.

This sequence very weird...I think should conduct the coding test before meeting with Senior/Manager...so that they can discuss about the coding test result later...I doubt CEO wana discuss about coding test result.

Anyhow I hate when some company ask the candidates to do technical test and then they just ignore/dismiss it and the hiring manager/senior dont even bother to look at the answered test properly...I have met few unprofessional people like that. Better they dont conduct this test at all.

In oil and gas, high chances are you;ll be interviewed for customary purpose when the hiring manager or HOD already know you.

Normally HR screen is the behavioral screening - this one you need to stay calm and answer the question in honesty. Dont show your frustration when answering, else will be the delisted as a candidate regardless how good you are in technical.
Senior Programmer + Hiring Manager + hands on (coding test) this is done in the same session during face 2 face.
CEO - this is very rare unless your position is direct reporting to CEO in a big corp or the company is very very small.

Normally.. what i got. Hr phone call interview.. ask background.. and set up face to face.. then face to face with boss.. then final round with hr again.. final nego about benefit, salary, date join.

Sometimes HR does the initial screening, if you pass HR then only the HOD will interview you.

Last time in 2010 I go interview for Hicom.
1st stage HR
2nd stage engineer
3rd stage hod
Then got 4th and final stage with top management, but I said fck it. Waste my time had to take leave 4 time for interview session. By that time I already got another job.

You didn't give good first impression kot. Normally HR if they see you got caliber they straight way call hod to talk to you. If HR scan though you and you suck, then they sure talk cock abit and then make u Chao only. They just being courteous. Protocol la lel.

Years ago when interview with HR, the HR guy keeps insisting that my working attitude is not good and does not do well in group based on their psychology test.

I dont go to much interview but all MNC 1st stage is HR.

Chinaman, HR IV through call and next is F2F with HOD.

I guess some company practice it in different way.

Lol! These tests are okay at first, but it gets annoying after a while. Like some tests gonna determine your attitude and behavior. Also nobody in their right mind will answer truthfully. People r not dumb.

The worst i had:

Got call for interview, went early to make good impression but turns out the guy was late for over 1hr.

When interviewer finally turns up tells me he is not hr nor is he hod, he is just another manager from another dept taking over. Ask retarded question personal n family stuff, when its my turn to ask about job scope he just scoff n i paraphrase "you havent even been accepted yet why ask these question? When we consider u only we tell u what to do dont act so smart".

Fine if this is they way ur company culture is i aint even interested anymore, at end of session as customary i offer my hand but he didnt even care to shake it. Macauhai this company with its shit professionalism.

1 or 2 mths later the real hod called up for another interview session, haha fker nobody their right mind will wan to be colleague of that shithead manager of urs.
