hmmm. deluge on ubuntu feisty fawn flies...the only odd thing i noticed is that the share ratio is outrageous! 289.1 ! and 107.455 !

the statistics info on downloaded and uploaded "verify" these incredible share ratios - 102.5 Gb (up) : 350.7Mb (down) ???

i'm so artificially "happy" but seriously...what's "wrong" with it?

should be the same.. cause you need to vmware linux/ubuntu what..
if the base/os can run deluge would have no problem/issues..

ps : i'm doing that experiment now lol smile.gif downloading vmware server
*
vmware+ubuntu-desktop+deluge = thumbup.gif excellent speed.

where to get good seed?
*
kind of odd question that can be answered in multiple different and related ways.
i think it depends a lot on the torrent (if many seeders & many peers), given your ISP is not choking your BT traffic, no technical problems.

does deluge 'get' good seeds? dunno, but it does connect international peers which are generally quite generous with their upload bandwidths.

answer my question plz?

not sure how to answer. imo minimize to taskbar and minimize to system tray is buggy (meaning it doesn't work as expected as set under "preferences")

however, i've managed to get it into the sys tray by clicking on the tray icon when it's window is "open" and when it's window is minimized on the taskbar - i know this doesn't make sense but you have to try (first, set min to tray in preferences) - i refer to alpha19 or 17.

for linux ubuntu-desktop+deluge, single clicking on the system tray icon will min<-toggle->max the deluge program window. thumbup.gif

but i must warn vmware+linux-ubuntu+deluge users...if deluge crashed like it did (the first and one time) you'll loose all your torrents to zer0% ! sad.gif as someone here already mentioned.
thank you for your attention.

for deluge-windows it crashed more often the upside is it recovers everything on restart.

deluge alpha 22 crashes like the 1920's stock market (for my PC), sometimes on pause/start or "just by doing its own thing" (without any obvious reason).

gone back to alpha17 (no gtk) - seems more stable (haven't crashed since running it for 3 hours) than alpha22, previously ran for several days uninterrupted.

Nope, for me on windows xp, if it crashes everything downloaded in that session will be lost.

windows deluge alpha crashes way too often, the newest RC1 kicks a visual c++ runtime error and refuse to even start...

linux deluge update!

what i said about vmware+ubuntu+deluge that downloads, partial downloads "vanishes" to zer0% is correct ONLY IF you save the downloads to a folder/location NOT inside your HOME folder!

previously i, through force of habit - a bad thing - downloaded to the /tmp folder and they all VANISHED on restart! rclxub.gif

now i put everything on my /home/user/desktop/dlfolder/

and everything is still there! after reboots.

btw, i also use independent-persistent hard disk setting.

in sum, vmware+ubuntu-desktop+deluge-linux is rclxm9.gif

i suppose you could be correct that any other folder other than /tmp...(i didn't verify and not going to cool2.gif )...i'm using my own user's home folder just to be safe-r icon_rolleyes.gif

can anyone confirm Deluge 0.5.6 really stable on XP SP2...
the older version crash many time dy, so not really have much hope on it at the moment..
*
i cannot confirm it is 0.5.6 is stable on XP SP2 (i'm using this) but i can confirm 0.5.6RC1 never even start (i never had c++ runtime error with all older versions before) because of visual c++ runtime error...i've reinstall vcredist_x86, uninstall old deluge and reinstall deluge-0.5.6.exe, and with reasons i've not reboot the PC as yet.

if anyone have a stable (meaning running without crashing for more than 24hrs) please let us know your setup?

Latest version still got lot of problem, it crashed around midnight and restart computer also cannot start it. visual c++ runtime error again!. no choice to fall back to alpha version 21. it seem to be most stable for me biggrin.gif.
*
aiya! same here, and deleting the deluge preference folder in c:\documents and settings\username\deluge did not solve the c++ runtime error for me...linux deluge runs like a cheetah being chased wiley e. coyote or was that the roadrunner? cheers.gif

Hey guys, good news. http://download.deluge-torrent.org/index.p...indows/0.5.6.1/

0.5.6.1 is out, though the main web hasn't updated it yet. Says here (at slurdge) it should fix those pesky really annoying runtime errors (I get em every time i close my deluge while hash checking, everytime I restart, every time I do something that might affect its stability, though it is always not the case, hence requiring me to delete settings.. every single time and it is PISSING ME OFF (went back to alpha 7 for this reason) ).
*
sorry to report it crashes like a drunken one legged sailor, mumbling something about c++ runtime error... cry.gif

I think maybe it crashes because you are running many other software at the same time. I had no crashing problems at all on my 433mhz celeron pc. It only runs the bittorrent client, peer guardian 2 and does gateway duties.
*
"maybe" to the many other software suggestion - thing is previous alphas from 22 backwards crashes after hours of operation while the latest cannot even stand up without saying "c++ runtime error." - even after reboot, and deleting the deluge pref folder. after a fresh restart and install, it was the first thing to run and it didn't.

now, i have vmware on (of course), firefox, one instance of ie 6 and nothing more, not counting the usual suspects: firewall, antivirus, pg2. i don't think it is because of too many software running at the same time nor the wrong types software on at the same time because "normal" software can co-exist/run simultaneously. it is probably something else?

deluge-0.5.6.1.exe or deluge-0.5.6.1b doesn't do the c++ runtime hara kiri rclxms.gif but sill crash on exit, requiring hash check on restart (hashing seems to be strangely "on its own time", meaning you'd expect to see something going at once but it doesn't, taking its own sweet time) now, to see if it crashes much later.

Hi Guyz,

I hv installed O.5.6 on my notebook its running fine. But everytime I open deludge, it says that there is a new version o.5.6.1, when I dload 0.5.6.1 I ONLY GOT 1.3MB as the exact file size from the site shows 8.1mb....
Question
1. should I run the 1.3mb installer?
2. Do I hv to remove program Deludge first from the control Panel b4 installing the latest one?

Hope someone can help
*
it looks like it "auto uninstall" current deluge installation when you install it again, therefore, probably no need to go to CP and uninstall it b4 doing a new installation.

Never happened to me. You probably forgot to delete the deluge configuration folder (documents and settings\username\deluge) or at least delete persistent.state in that folder, because 0.5.6.1b bugfixes the persistent.state crap.
*
em...mea culpa sweat.gif - i *think* it crashed (and the "slow" rehash) because i've set it to full allocation AND did not have enough disk space - but it never "said" anything but "behaved strangely".

(Another winning testimony)

Deluge works! I get max speed all the time (sometimes only). It works with every torrent (err actually only those with 20+ seeders). For private torrents, my ratio is fine (actually it'll get you banned because it doesn't upload!).
*
yup, deluge works...almost too well! its screwy upload ratio tracking is "problematic" with private torrents (ones with upload % rules) - i suggest you don't look at the "ratio" column but look at the "Details" tab where it reports the "Uploaded" size, assuming the GiB is actually MiB to get "realistic" upload figure (this is for current linux version)

the latest windows port seems to have corrected this "bug" rclxms.gif
