QUOTE(trix @ Aug 16 2007, 12:52 PM) yup ktorrent better on my fedora 7 vm, deluge can't exit properly my boxtorrent account shows multiple entries of the same torrent because of that even the interface feel smoother to use, deluge feels like it's lagging The downside with deluge is: you can only pause instead of stopping the torrent and when resuming the torrent, it just stayed that way and not downloading at all. The only way is to restart the torrent client. I think this is an early build and not that stable compared to ktorrent which already in v2+ right now. I have downloaded kttorrent, will try it later and see how it goes. From the screenshot, it is more detailed and advanced BT client. Read on the forum, they said there is a bug with the client crashing when quitting the client, did anyone of you experienced this problem ?

QUOTE(praveenmarkandu @ Aug 16 2007, 08:07 PM) deluge is a relatively new client. their releases are frequent and have many new fixes if you bother to update. the thing i like about deluge is that their developers are open to suggestions and actually implement them. all i have to do is give a shout out on the forum and its there. 0.5.4.1 was slow for me until i purged the installed files using aptitude. then i reinstalled it. i have to redo my settings which took about a minute, but in the end the client is snappy. another good app as a music player is Exaile. check it out. Hi there praveenmarkandu First of all, thanks for sharing this bypass method which does not required the VPN at all. If the developers there gladly listen the positive feedback from the users, then it is a good thing. I will check out the Exaile music player I know no one here dared to say it but i gotta say that you are my idol now!

QUOTE(tyssxp @ Aug 15 2007, 06:33 PM) Haha. Seems like I checked the option to get source from CD within the synaptic package manager. Now can use WinSCP already. Thanks ya. Anyway, I'm using VMWare. Im using vmwareplayer + ubuntu (not install one, i think is a image). Each time i tried to install the ssh client, i get the prompt to pop in the cd. How did you managed it ? I need to transfer my downloaded files to windows. Thanks. Edit: Problem solved with VMware Workstation This post has been edited by Thunderbolt: Aug 18 2007, 06:34 PM

QUOTE(skullz) @ Aug 18 2007, 06:27 PM) yep, port forwarded and tested successfully. downloading some tv series and music.. i can connect to all the seeds/peers it always showing something like 35(35)/ 300(300) on the seeds / peers tab.. just the speed dun seem to get past 20k but downloaded the latest ubuntu realease can touch 70k If you are on 1mb package, with the latest ubuntu iso, you should get around 120kbps or more, less than that, means something wrong with the setting I use deluge here and no problem with the speed

QUOTE(slash @ Aug 19 2007, 02:36 AM) VMware means I can run xp and ubuntu at the same time? Yes, you can run both but VMware is a memory hog, playing games would be a problem if you run VMware on the background

QUOTE(Xybirium @ Aug 21 2007, 09:44 PM) I'm also a Ubuntu Feisty Fawn newbie here i.e. about 2 weeks. I am currently downloading Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 1.4 (about 2Gigs) and you can find it here. The screenshots look really excellent. PS - I also use Ubuntu Feisty Fawn mainly for downloading torrents using Deluge as it seems to work the best for me even downloading from overseas IPs. However, I'm beginning to like it more and more. The new Gutsy Gibbon (v7.10) will be out in October Added on August 22, 2007, 11:35 amQUOTE(praveenmarkandu @ Aug 22 2007, 01:47 AM) speed is still fine for me. was downloading at 160kB/s even yesterday night. im starting to feel as if people dont understand the CONCEPT of torrents Same here, full ass speed if you are on well seeded torrents Yeah, damn true, like every time got low speed, it is "associated" with the streamyx connection This post has been edited by Thunderbolt: Aug 22 2007, 11:35 AM

QUOTE(pierreye @ Aug 27 2007, 11:21 AM) I try SAMBA before (it is just a driver to enable linux to browse windows share). While a good solution but it is very slow to transfer large files over network. Although VMWare and Windows is local, somehow the traffic have to go through the NIC that is slowing down the speed. Try to transfer a 4gig file and you will know the pain. I found out the best solution is to use a physical partition with ext3 formatted and installed IFSDrive (doesn't work in Vista) in your Windows to read linux partition is the easiest and fastest way to share the files. You can use your Linux to donwload to that partition and then use your windows to read the ext3 drive directly. No need to transfer in/out between 2 OS. Since Samba is that slow, i might give it a try for the alternate method. Got any guides for ext3 and IFSDrive method ?
