Hi all Serious /K,
Just want to get your suggestion on what are the possible options to deal with the noise made by above unit in a condo.
Management seems reluctant to handle my complaint as they said any noise before 11pm should be tolerated.
The unit owner challenges me to move out.

wow what a real bastard.

unfortunately there really isn't much you can do. management can merely advise the people upstairs to behave like human beings, they don't have the authority for anything else really.

if you're renting the place, you could still move out but if it was purchased, not sure if moving will help as you can't guarantee you'll have good neighbours at the new place either. living in malaysia, chances of getting sick neighbours are pretty high, whether condo or landed.

It is my own unit and my wife is considering to move to landed property.
Of course, current economy condition may help to get cheaper property but also hard to sell out existing unit.
Furthermore, banks might not offer a good rate in home loan.

I strongly suspect this also as the mofo is the last unit to move in. His unit does not get renovated much... everything use stock.

got that before, complained to management, management doesn't bother.
complained to the tenant, the tenant didn't care. Complained the second time, they threaten to disturb me if I make noise again.

In the end, I had to ask my neighbour for help complain to the tenant also. The tenant somehow got scared because more people complain.

The bad situation for me is the design of the apartment building like a octagonal shape.
1 side contains 2 units per floor. So it is direct impact to my unit but not the unit next to me. doh.gif

first, define the foot noise. Stomping on purpose? or exercising? they could be doing work out like jumping jacks and didn't use a yoga mat.

an eye for an eye if you really want a permanent solution, cause the same degree of disturbance on them too by 'cucuk langit' lolol

Worst if there are kids, running around and dragging furniture, the parents don’t bother to educate.

Since the management and the unit owner itself dun care, there's nothing much you can do anymore.

Unless those illegal methods like getting ppl to threaten him and etc.

Damn, your condo management is absolutely useless
You should geng up with other owners during AGM to boot out this useless condo management
My condo have better set of rules to control these noises but onus of proof must come from you in terms of video recording
Unfortunately, I can hear chair dragging sound up to 4 floors above me.
Yes its that bad.
During MCO was really bad
But I am glad that there is a construction next to my condo
So any idiot who is thinking of sleeping late will be awaken by the construction next door.
I think the major problem with your condo, is the management.
Talk to other neighbors, accumulate complain and try to boot them out next AGM.

Is it just you and your wife ? you have kids ?
If no kids, you can activate world war 3
they stomp, you go to your toilet early morning and start slamming ceramic to your tiles. Or your toilet bowl lid, just drop it.
Your upstair sure can hear
But downstair also can hear, so be ready for complain
or you can take a ladder, can use a hammer to hit the ceiling. Hope you don't have plaster ceiling.
I always think condo plaster ceiling is a waste of money, I don't even bother to waste money doing it.

Long term you can consider to move out and rent your unit
But you move to landed and also rent
until you find a longer term

For me, I also hate to stay in condo
Condo in msia really suck to stay in
developer really useless one
They claim they do QC check but none at all
as a result all the main door slam loudly, due to rosak door closer
floor to floor also lack insulation
I stay in Australia and HK also not get this type of shit
Except in London, my condo have that stupid piping problem sound everytime my neighbor flush his toilet
Only in Msia, condo is built like crap and they never bother to think about sound insulation

Your condo say before 11pm mean can do renovation in weekend also ?
Damn if yes, really useless tak guna management
My condo not allow renovation any time in public holiday and weekends.
Strictly owner will get fined.

That's really messed up.

I had experienced this before -- politely approached them, complained to the management, etc. -- I basically did everything that I could to ethically resolve the issue but nothing worked.

You have only two choices -- either you learn to live with the noise (which can cause stress and resentment, subconsciously) or move to a landed property. I think the latter is the most logical choice. Even if your future landed house isn't the most quiet place you could find, it's still better than having someone stomping all over the entire house from above.
*
Condo in msia build like shit.

Can hear 2-3 floors above you someone stomping
Even downstair someone slam door also can hear
Even your right and left condo, the fella bathing at 430 am also can hear the fella slaming his ceramic mug on the tiles while brushing teeth.

Never trust a sly foxy msia developer.

Buy sub-sale
Never buy a newly launch one
If you intend to stay
Newly launch one based on showroom - only buy if you want for investment
Newly launch one, you can't feel the doors, some showroom no doors at all, you can't feel the flush of toilet, and see the defects
Farking developers in Msia - their QC check is for customer to raise defect listing
They don't even bother to do their own QC check
I work in manufacturing line - all our products are certified QC check.
then why developer no need the responsibility to do QC check baffles me.

ANother reason don't buy newly launch is that you dunno your neighbors
and you certainly dunno the quality of your condo management
That's why buy sub sale for staying purposes.

Last few properties I bought, I personally knew the developer
so I can see the list and know who exactly staying next to me
Excluding the biggest mistake I ever made was the property I recently bought and moved in
This developer completely alluded me
The project director is a tidak apa attitude fella - he thinks what works for him works for everybody
