Out of curiosity, what did you use it for the 40 minutes? Games?

Normal usage, only social media, no game. My brightness level even lower than 50%

Yeah, the 120hz a factor, but to drain at a rate of 20% in less than an hour is still a lot. I'm currently using a 90hz refresh rate screen and I'm getting about an hour's SOT for 10% consumption on the average. I wonder if the battery drain from 90hz to 120hz is that significant?

I using OnePlus 8 before, SOT is really good compare to s20

Oh I forgot to mention one thing. The reason why Samsung 120hz mode drain battery faster compared to other phones like OnePlus , is because their screen do not implement dynamic resolution mode. Other phones such as OnePlus will automatically switch to 60hz when you are using app that are not supporting 90/120hz. On the other hand, Samsung run in 120hz mode all the time, no matter what type of apps you are using. That's the reason why Samsung drain faster.

And yes. Samsung realized this issue and they promised dynamic resolution mode will come in Note 20 Ultra. Sadly to say, they do not do the same thing to S20 series. Makes me wonder if this is hardware limitation.

Then it has to do with the fact that the SD865 is far more power efficient than the Exynos.

I think optimization also an issue, OnePlus 8 easy to reach 7-8 hours SOT, but I think my S20 can't even reach 4 hours SOT if battery drain issue do not improve

Yeah, if you check the GSMArena long term review, you can see that the reviewer stated even the S20 Ultra only got something like 5 hours SOT which is kinda low for a 5000mAh battery. Optimisation seems to still be a problem for Samsung.

Yes. There has been lengthy and exhaustive discussion (or rather argument tongue.gif ) on this topic btw Exynos and SD here and believe me, we don't even want to go near there. There are already multiple benchmark test btw S20 Exynos and S20 SD models which shows some very definitive results.

So since you have already gotten your phone, there is not much choice but to live with it. Next round you should know better which model you should go for.

Anyway, is your AOD turned on? You can start by disabling your AOD first. Just for starters.

Next step would be to log out of FB and turn wechat to optimised battery usage.

It's all about that 120hz screen bro. Not to mention that he is using S20, which the battery capacity is small. If you use S20 with 120hz mode in high brightness level, then you will definitely get the same result like him. And it get even worse since we are using exynos variant.
That's why Samsung decided to not to put 120hz mode in the upcoming regular Note 20. Because they know regular Note 20 can't handle it. Only the largest device Note 20 Ultra will implement the 120 hz mode.

I reckon that if we want to use Samsung phone in 120hz mode with full day battery life, the battery capacity must at least started from 5000mAh.

Haha the prove that S will always be prototype while note is polished version of the phone

Oh that opinion could start a war my friend. Some said Note is better because it's polished right after the S. Some said S is better because new thing start with S. It's a never ending argument. LOL. biggrin.gif

Same here. According to samsung customer service, it wont work because Samsung pay service is based on region. So if we buy us version phone, the samsung pay will connect to the us region server or something like that, thus it wont work. But then the guy might be lying to make us buy from samsung malaysia

if you are talking about s20 series, then the answer is no. S.Korea set is using Snapdragon chipset as well.
