Hi there, I have a Panasonic water heater, which been using 10 years.. no complains.. It is just that now when press the stop button on it, it cannot stop the water completely anymore.. I have to tighten up the water flow for the unit to stop the water completely. After that, I can loosen the water flow and is okay. So the question is... Is it a normal thing? Should some maintenance be done? like changing some rubber? Or just buy a new one and ask installer to replace it? Anyway, Panasonic quality is pretty good. I have 5x units same model and only one unit has this issue after 10 years. Any opinion? Buy new one easier? Attached thumbnail(s)

The button issue. Push and release a few times sometimes can work. Push and quickly release, let the spring force the button back.
The main problem is the rubber stopper inside out of shape. I couldn't find spare part so change the whole thing. 8 years old that time.

i am using the same model but i am using a water tap instead of pressing the big button.. do you have tap control valved?or you can buy a valve and install it before filter.. that could be a cheaper option rather than to change a working unit..

sounds like weak washer or spring. you turn off mains reduce pressure then the rubber seal properly.

Always rely on valve before the heater.

10 years good la. most water heater dont have this push on-off water flow, so only can depend on other stop-cock.
try disamble those water heater and seek for those rubber and ask panasonic if they got spare part (pretty much sure the same part were used by multiple model)

You are supposed to have a stopcock before the heater so that in the event of an emergency you can stop that.
Sometimes your water pressure too high, the internal spring cannot stop it is normal.

QUOTE(ihavenoidea @ May 15 2020, 03:23 PM) pasang inline valve at heater output install at water input better to prevent internal leaking. it a 10 year old water heater. TS, if financial allow, change a new one. sudah untung pakai 10 years.

Under warranty, i send to repair. Technician said its the stopper spoilt. 2 week to repair wor. This post has been edited by elitex: May 15 2020, 04:05 PM

thanks for the sharing all your experiences. Its been 10 years, thus I believe no more warranty. And also because 10 years already, I think no more spare parts.. not sure even bother to ask Panasonic...
like one of the members here suggesting, 10 years already... better get new one even it is fully functioning? On the other hand, I do have the inlet control, so no issue to stop the water and no immediate issues to me.

But 10 years already, impossible to same model... newer model sure need to hack a bit here and there.. It mean need to contact some contractor to help me la.. and now during MCO, I really hesitate to let anyone come to my house....

try this first. u know the small intake water filter below it. clean it.
tersumbat make water flow low pressure. if ur stopper edy used to high pressure, sudden low pressure will make the washer “loose”
