Not sure about the online version but for the hard copy version I used last April, I have some notes on my blog:
https://wlst-ourfirstjourney.blogspot.com/2...d-planning.html

Activation can be done any time within 30 days after redemption
*
what is redemption?

is it the date after you have collected the exchange order from the local agency?

Let's say if i have already filled my info in Visit Japan Web, can I still fill in manually the paper immigration form?

Just in case, i worry I couldn't access the internet when i landed in the Japan airport to generate the QR code.

Just screenshot the QR code and save it in your phone

Don’t wait till too late to fill in the web form, approval and QR code generation usually take less than a day so you can screenshot before boarding the plane, very easy and straightforward
*
thx for the info.

i thought the QR code will change from time to time.

Anyone familiar with Zao snow monsters?

There are so many ropeways.

Just want to confirm if this ropeway is the correct one to go up to the very top to see the snow monsters?

is this zao sanroku ropeway station?

Ticket had to buy separate. Bottom station ticket only reach Middle Station.  From Middle station had to walk to another part of section and buy ticket again to the top. So you can walk around sightseeing Middle part of Zao mountain.
2000+3800 = 5800

if wanted to see  illumination, ticket will be 6000 per pax, from bottom to middle +  illumination entrance ticket.
*
wahhh...need to line up and buy again at the middle station? cry.gif

do u have any pictures of the middle station and where to walk to? i'm afraid there will be so much crowd, and not sure where to go to buy the tickets to go to the top.

Hi, I am planning a trip to Tokyo next month and am currently searching for an affordable hotel to stay in. I realize it's a bit late, and I've noticed that the prices are on the higher side. I was wondering which area would be best for me and my parents. I have come across recommendations on various websites (reddit, youtube, etc), but I'm not quite sure which one is the most suitable.
*
Asakusa is suitable for elderlies

There are still affordable decent hotels (RM100 to RM300 range) can be found in March.

Thanks for the recommendation! But I couldn't find such affordable decent hotels in that particular area that you have stated at that price range through agoda...
*
probably u search using more than 2 adults, so the rooms can be quite expensive.

strategically, sometimes it's much cheaper if u book two separate rooms for more than two adults, than to combine everyone in one room.

u can compare the prices if you search using 2 adults compared to more than 2 adults. Sometimes it's cheaper even if you add two rooms together.

also, try other platform such as hotels.com instead of agoda.

just came back from visiting the snow monsters

i queue up for 2 hours just to get into the cable car at the Zao ropeway vmad.gif

but when i was at Mount Hakkoda, there was barely any queue at all.

why is there so much crowd at Zao Ropeway but hardly any crowd at Mt Hakkoda. Both also offer view of the snow monsters hmm.gif

Got this news
https://soranews24.com/2024/02/24/a-sad-ode...f-service-pots/

really most outlets no longer serving Oden.

The blogger encountered only two FM outlets in Tokyo with Oden counters.

For me, i went to Appi Kogen (1 outlet), Morioka (2 outlets), Aomori (2 outlets), Yamagata (2 outlets), all seven convenient outlets i visited all dun have.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Feb 26 2024, 10:35 PM)
It was super cold at Jizo Sancho Station, not so bad on Juhyo Kogen Station. After spending my earlier 12 days at northern Hokkaido of Furano, Tomamu, Asahikawa, Wakkanai, and Abashiri, I was not too worried about the weather and low temperature around Tohoku areas like Mount Zao and boy was I wrong.  I was very well prepared with all the necessary winter gear but the coldest part of this trip I would say to be on Jizo Sancho Station on top of Mount Zao. I had to go indoors to the restaurant for a hot meal before coming out again for another round of Jizo Sancho Station.

There was a long queue at the base station with many tourists and even local Japanese on holiday. It was a great experience to view the snow monsters at Mount Zao which I think Japan lovers must try doing at least once. The snow there was good too for skiing. Snowfall and snow quality is comparable to the likes of Niseko but with longer, steeper and more challenging courses. biggrin.gif

which day did u visit the Zao snow monsters? Looks like they have melted.

when i visited two weeks ago, it was like this

Thanks for the information, lauwy.

Just arrived here, and took the cable car up for a fee.
Took a walkabout and photos.
Now is minus 2.5C.
*
Enjoy!

Generally for a ski resort, if it's a cable car, anyone can hop onto it (provided you paid for the ticket).

But if it's a chair lift, then they only allow those with skis or snowboards. Even if you hv paid for the ticket, they wont let you in unless you have a ski or snowboard with you,

Is October/ November a good time to visit? I hate travelling during the rainy season.
*
November is definitely off-peak because most of the ropeways are closed for maintenance in November laugh.gif

The autumn foliage leaves have dropped and is neither winter without snow. Nothing to see at all

if u want to visit mountain areas, it's not a good time to visit.

October is autumn foliage season, more crowd

Hi, does anyone have recommendations for places besides Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka?

I'm planning to go around Sept to Oct.

Just want to eat, look at Japanese shop and places (like maybe temples, castles or anywhere interesting)

Sorry, but I don't know where to start, hoping someone could give me a starting guide or something.
*
if u like temples, can go Kamakura

or if u like autumn foliage leaves in mid-Oct, can go Hokkaido (Biei, Furano, Sounkyo, Jozankei)
