Hi everyone. Do you have recommendation for reputable Malaysia tour agency to Japan? Will be travelling with elderly people so self travel is not really an option…

Hi all situ, would like to know if I will board from haneda at 2350 night. What time is consider as safe to reach haneda?

Will take train from asakusa to haneda airport
*
You should reach Haneda by 2200. That will be the safest.
Asakusa Station take Asakusa Line to Daimon Station. Walk from Daimon Station to Hamamatsucho Station (2 min)
Hamamatsucho Station to Haneda International Terminal by Monorail.

Hi want to ask if Jr East service centre in haneda can reissue lost suica card? I had report the lost suica in the ticketing office days ago, told to reissue it within 14days, wonder can it done in Jr eat travel service centre or only in ticket office
*
Had you try search in Lost & Found Department in nearest station which you think it drop? 70% you can get back your lost card.

Even reissue Suica card for you, inside also zero credit unless you know the serial number of your lost card so the staff can transfer the credit.

Need advise for a way from Osaka to Tokyo for 2 pax

1) Night coach from Osaka to Tokyo <- Cheapest but least comfy
2) Night train (Sunrise Seto) <- seems very difficult to book
3) Spend one more night in Osaka/Tokyo (RM300+ for accommodation), use shinkansen the next day

If going for option 2 or 3, recommended to get the JR pass, right?

We'll be planning for 1 week in Osaka and another week in Tokyo in Sept
*
JR Pass not really worth it by travel one way.
Night coach from Osaka to Tokyo got luxury bus. Super comfortable. Very limited seat & it run only at Sat & Sun
https://www.kanto-bus.co.jp/english/nightway/dream-sleeper/

BTW, you choose the worst month to visit Tokyo. biggrin.gif Raining season.
It wll rain avg 10-14hrs per day. Morning can rain until evening. biggrin.gif
Make sure you buy cheap umbrella from 100 - 150 yen shop. (transparent umbrella). Basically everytime you step into shop and you come out will be another person same type umbrella. Everyone using the same, people just grap & go.

Sad story to share:

Takayama most famost 喜八郎 Kihachiro Beef Bun are permantly closed.
Feel sad for those haven't been to Takayama travellers.

Alternative shop was 飛騨牛まん本舗 but the taste still can't compare to 喜八郎.

Big news

Suica & Pasmo will be temporary out of stock until further notice. Anyone going Japan starting 8 June 2023 will not able to buy any Pasmo or Suica from any JR ticket office / machine. Convinence store might have some stock left until finished.

I'm planning to travel to japan (north-eastern honshu) in February for skiing and basically to see snow.

these are the places that i know in the north eastern honshu side

Zao onsen (skiing, to see snow monster)
Aomori (to see snow monster)
Ginzan onsen (to take pictures)
Yuzawa (skiing)

any other places (north-eastern honshu) that I should visit for skiing and to see snow?

I've already been to Hakuba in the Japanese alps area during winter.

Is Sendai worth stopping by?

If you like Extreme then can challenge Yamadera Temple. Extreme physical challenge specially climbing the steep stair on thick snow + slippery.
Reward on top are speechless.

Thanks for the tip

How about Mg Haguro pagoda, does this require any challenge of going through any extreme hiking/climbing and thick snow to get to the pagoda?
*
Transportation to Haguro pagoda not as good as Yamadera. If you didn't self driving, you will waste alot time waiting bus plus winter daylight are limited.
Haguro pagoda step are more towards to endurance, not as challenge as Yamedera.

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Jun 12 2023, 10:37 AM)
question about ATM cash withdrawal in Japan

due to shitty cut-throat money changers at my place here, seems like the best option for me to get best exchange rate would be ATM withdrawal when I arrived in KIX

seems most local MY bank atm card supports VISA plus only, ATMs supporting it shouldn't be difficult to find right?

Also the fees, on paper my bank should just charge me RM10 for overseas ATM withdrawal fees, other transaction fees will be depending on the ATMs there, any idea what's the usual rate?

Lastly, I willl have a hand-me-down suica/pasmo/icoca card from my friend, any way to reload them other than using cash?  like in a konbini that accepts CC and can top-up your suica there over the counter using CC?
*
If you ATM card got MEPS / Cirrus / Plus / Visa / Unionpay then you will able to withdraw cash from ATM. Look for the ATM machine which support it. Most of 7-11 / Pos Office Japan do have foreiners card ATM Machine.

Suica only accept Cash while Pasmo can link with Apple Pay which apple pay link to your credit card. Inside Kombini, Both Pasmo / Suica only accept cash.

Thanks

anyway my preference is actually Hokkaido

but since you mentioned there is a risk of train delay due to thick snow in Hokkaido in february, are the possibilities the same in north eastern Honshu (Aomori, Yamagata, Sendai area and the connecting trains down to Tokyo)?
*
Aomori - Morioka - Sendai - Fukushima - Tokyo will not effected by snow because the main Tohoku line got spray water system clearing the snow. But Yamagata & Akita which is Mini Shinkansen, those Shinkansen are sharing normal track with local train will effected by snow thickness.

From Sendai to Yamagata by JR Senzan Line which is Yamadera temple located, will effect by snow thickness. 2023 so far no any distubtion, 2024 unknow biggrin.gif

Thanks for the useful info!

how about the train tracks in Hokkaido from Sapporo to Niseko and from Sapporo to Asahikawa?

Do they have spray water system or are they commonly disrupted by thick snow in February?
*
Sapporo to Niseko got dispute for a week.
Sapporo to Asahikawa no problem
But 2024 Winter , unpredictable yet.

Hi guys.
I'm planning a family trip to Nagoya, will bring my kid to Legoland Japan.
Is there a direct bus from Chubu Airport to Legoland?

I found below websites, but the info is not that reliable, no bus timetable, etc.
Please advise.

https://www.centrair.jp/en/access/bus.html
https://www.sanco.co.jp/highway/kuwanakokusai/
*
Got bus but not recomemnded. The bus depart every 2 hour. Journey take 45 minute. Bus at Platfrom 3 heading Kinjofuto Station.

Best way was depart from Nagoya Station thru Aonami Line to last station which is Kinjofuto Station.
Chubu > Nagoya Station by Meitetsu Aiport Express.

Many thanks for the info.
I guess every 2 hours is still fine for me. Travelling with small kid with lots of things to carry, bus will be my 1st option.
If no more bus, then will take train.
*
Bad news for you.

I just checked the bus company. From Chubu Airport to Legoland Bus was supended due to low passenger.
https://www.sanco.co.jp/operation/info/
Chubu Airport 中部国際空港 > Kuwana 桑名 Route was supended 全便運休......Half way will stop at Legoland which is Kinjofuto Station

https://www.centrair.jp/en/access/bus.html
KW3 Route.

Hi sifus, not sure if it is a right thread to ask but i am just trying my luck here. I booked my AirAsia flight ticket KUL-KIX in November and it is stated that "Flight is subject to obtaining government approval".
Did some reading and some other places said it usually turns out to be fine. Just some paperwork to be done. Has anyone here saw this before too? Thanks
*
It means KIX authorities haven't approved AirAsia X landing at KIX airport. AirAsia X & KIX authorities still pending the contract. Pending fail, you will received flight cancel message.
