Hi all, I have a question. According to the japan immigration website, we are only allow to be in Japan for 180 days per year. This year I've been there for 89 days (from feb to may), end of this year [dec 22 to jan 5] (christmas + new year) i plan to go there for another 14 days and next year feb / march i plan to again for animejapan 2026 and travel to other states (not sure how many days yet).
Based on my understanding is that they count through rolling year, meaning from 2025 feb to 2026 feb if i have stay over 180 days? While i understand that I may not be over 180 days, im still scare that if immigration will give me any trouble for visiting so often? or will i be fine?

A: Malaysian nationals holding biometric passport compliance with ICAO standard do not need visa to enter Japan for a short term stay not more than 90 days if your purpose of visit is transit, tourism, business (without paid activities), visiting friends/family and relatives, attend conference, seminar, short term study course.
Those who plan to stay for more than 90 days to work or study in Japan has to obtain a visa before entering Japan, please click here for more information.
When entering Japan, the immigration officer might ask visitors some questions concerning the purpose of visit or request to check certain documents (For example: hotel bookings, return flight tickets & etc.)
Please be aware that you might be denied entry if you are entering Japan for short-term stay but the total duration of your stay in Japan in a year exceeds 180 days.
