hi. still new in OC. currently OC my new rig and here the result.

idle

full load

my system :

Asus p5b deluxe wifi
1x2 G DDR2 800Mhz Supertalent
Evga 8800GTS 640MB Superclocked
Silverstone 650Watt
Seagate 320G
Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX

i need some feedback from u guys. i still confius is it stable or not. i'm consider that my new setting is stable since can past 5 hours without problem ( dont make  doh.gif to me since i'm still learning  tongue.gif ).

forgot to write down the rest of setting (NB volt, vcore and etc). will update soon.
hope you guys can give a comment so that i can improve my OC skills.

p/s : the reading of speedfan not accurate. sometimes CPU temp can become 90'C (just 1 time - in stress mode) and also the high reading in core is 51'C when i'm stress it in 3.5G.
*
well if u feels it stable, ok la kot. but to share my experience...last time run orthos to test. 5 hours - still green. 10 hours, green also. 15 hours, green also thumbup.gif . 17 hours...eeekkk, red.
so, not sure la. i normally ran for 12 hours at least.others may have different view.

hehe, just for benchmark only la

normally i run it at 2.2V
*
even for benchmark, i dun think u need those kind of high vdimm. i think the crucial can still take it.
i have the similar ram, so i know la a bit the capability. biggrin.gif

hmm.gif wonder why u want to run it at 1T on intel's. does has any effect on ur SPI timing?

what u mean G0 rev.b? im using G0 Stepping B.. is that it?
*
sorry, my statement is a bit confusing...what i'm trying to ask is actually for Q6600 G0, anyone use the LxxBxx...that B. most of the G0 i've came across is the 'A' batch - well i didnt came across too many G0 actually tongue.gif
since last time for C2D, the 'B' batch performs better than the 'A' in terms of the voltage, wonder if the 'B' batch for G0 is the same.
just wondering.

from experience the high oc will compensate for the loose timing..nevertheless a better timing from a good ram is better..but as uve seen its not the case.. but running anhything above 3.5GHz on a Quad is already a screamer on any benchmark and for daily use.
*
that's u got urself the team value only but a good proc to compensate what the ram is lacking...nice strategy rclxms.gif

haha.. dude u should google more for A-Data. Refer back to 1st page the A-Data is quite overclockable @1038Mhz under E6600 section, for the moment i not yet tweak the ram, this my 1st trial all the way up gimme a break
*
and not to mentioned that u r running at 4x1Gb sticks...so, 1038fsb is surely great edi. rclxms.gif

eh guys, how to use memtest dos version arr?

install to floppy & let it boot so it run automatically arr?

is that enough just let it run automatically??

how long should it run?
*
write the image to the floppy or cd...then boot directly from the floppy/cd...once u got the screen, hit 'c' IIRC, then '1' then '3' then '5' or '7' or '8'...normally people use test #5...i like to call it Mambo No. 5 tongue.gif ...run it for about 8 hours...or whichever suits u...
why, got a new pair ka bro???

yaww my fRend
ive done running my memtest test #5 11hrs, no error even single! smile.gif
hehehee..

again, does it really enuff running OCCT at default setting? i mean does it really t0ok only 30min to determine the overcloked rig stable?
*
great to hear that but then again u r back to square one. really need to change the mobo i think.
the 30 minutes test shud only be used if u want to find out how high ur proc can go...if u passed, then up a bit more till u got the 'Crashed' notice. then back-up a bit and run the Infinite test for at least 12 hours. then u might say that u proc is stable at that speed.

OCCT full throttle for 30 minutes i think is more than enough right?
*
this 30 minutes, 8 hours, 12 hours is really up to you actually...whichever u have confidence with. i used to run the OCCT full blast for 17 hours, then all the sudden crashed...maybe due to some heatwave or something...so shud i consider mine is stable or not? hmm.gif

for myself i will Orthos for 8 hrs pri 3... i think its sufficient already.... 8hrs of non stop 100% load is more than enough...u wont be using ur computer at full load for 8 hrs right? smile.gif
reason i choose pri 3 is because pri 4 will start to make ur pc lag then i cant use it but pri 3 is just fine  icon_idea.gif
*
this is what i meant...it based on how confident are u with the stress test...for some 30 minutes enuff, some 4 hours, some 8 hours and some 24hrs...
for me...12hrs tongue.gif

QUOTE(invisiblelim @ Sep 28 2007, 06:54 PM)
erm, can any PRO out there, teach me how to OC my RIG? i just got my Q6600 today ^.^
I mean, if propabaly, status some of your setting.. thank you
*
what a nice setup u have there...maybe those having ASUS mobo can help out but most important is for you to search around...not only at LYN but other forums as well...u need to find the sweet spot for ur mobo...i think the 1st post might help u to find out where to start with.

this week i noticed something weird about my system...OCCT ok for 8hrs at 3.6G@1.45v...but sometime when i just let the system be at idle...torrenting or nothing, it will just BSOD...dunno why...is it due to the power instability? btw, i'm only using 4-pin of the +12v to the mobo...not 8 pins coz don have the extension to make it longer to reach from below to the top of the casing...will it be the cause?what do u think?
