Just received my iPad Pro, I think the keyboard most likely will be shipped out next week.

Yeah I mean iPadOS has its limitations because its a tablet, but its a darn good tablet OS nevertheless.

This iPad with MacOS reminds me of the Surface range- which until today, I still envy that device alot. I mean you pay almost the same for an iPad with keyboard but you get a full fledged OS (with some minor limitations). Defo can do more than what you have on iPadOS.

But interestingly, Microsoft also have the laptop variant of the Surface - so it doesn't actually cannibalize one another, just catering to different people's needs.

Sidenote - bummer that the Surface has bad quality control - especially on the hardware front. Apple to me, has been perfect - never had any hardware failure throughout my entire 'association' with the brand, speaks volumes of its quality control.

In preparing stage for shipment now. Think today shipped out then monday arrive.

If Apple is worried about cannibalization, they wouldn’t have come out with a 12.9 inch iPad Pro. Regardless of OS, it will definitely cannibalize sales of entry level MacBooks.

It is a strategic decision by Apple not to put macOS on the iPad Pro. For Microsoft, it was an easy decision to include full fledged Windows in their Surface Pro - Windows is their biggest strength. But that is not the case for Apple. macOS is nowhere as popular as Windows. On the other hand, the iPad is ubiquitous as a tablet. Even hardcore Android fans will agree that the iPad is better than any Android tablets available. It is smart for Apple to build on from the existing iPad user experience.

macOS is the present for Apple, while iPadOS is the future. To me, the beauty of iPadOS is all the additional features like Slide Over, Split View, and mouse support do not complicate the core experience of using an iPad. If you just want to use an iPad Pro to read, play games, or browse social media, it is as simple to use as any iOS device. But if you want to do more, the multitasking features are there. Don’t forget iPadOS now is still pretty much in the infant stage, so more powerful features will come.

Many children nowadays are growing up with iPads as part of their life. By the time they reach university, they won’t be looking to get a Windows laptop, or a MacBook. It would be the iPad Pro. 😉

Yeah man, iPad is a new norm of this generation - so much can be done with it and it changed behavior completely. Back in my days, MacBooks were the cool thing in Unis, now its iPad Pros. You carry a Macbook and they'd be thinking.. what's that?

Yes, in fact im comparing both. Leaning more towards iPad Pro because its something new, im already using MBP 2017 so MacBook Air might not be so different, just better performance I guess.


My environment is mostly MS office.. no issue with saving the files to MS office format with Numbers.. eg pptx, ppt. ?

For your reference, once your order get shipped, if from China, it takes 5 days to arrive. At least that the case for my pencil and my ipad ..

Why not shipped together with my ipad pro on next week?

This is the funny part about Apple Store, they dont consolidate all orders and ship in one go. One by one. Probably its warehouse and logistic system cant cater for consolidation or orders could be processed and ship from different part of the world like some via Chia and SG

They even charge credit card 1 by 1 even on the same order. Perhaps it is depend on the location of warehouse ... both, pencil and ipad came from China but 1 from North East China and another South East ..

Yes, surprisingly my new magic keyboard for ipad will arrive b4 than my ipad. 😅 i placed my keyboard order on 16th and ipad on 9 april. Ipad still in processinggggggg.

Ohh so you are already using MBP 2017. So you are looking for a thin and light device supplementing your MBP? Then yea, no point getting MBA.

Generally I find when converting Word and PowerPoint files to Pages and Keynote, there is not much problem other than missing fonts. But I will always feel lost converting Excel to Numbers, as Numbers has a completely different layout and way of doing things. Try playing around the Numbers app on your MBP. If you have no issue with it then you won’t have any issue on the iPad Pro.

You order 11 inch version? Damn, so fast your keyboard ... my keyboard is still processing ..
