Actually the Magic Mouse is not very comfortable for long use - especially if you have large hands like I do.

I have cramps after under 1 hour of usage - some logitech mouse are still decent.

Hmmm .. i have big hand too but no issue with magic mouse .. been using since 6-7 years ago .. so far ok ..

By the wat, if we using bluetooth mouse with normal or logitech mouse, can we swipe between the panel of display? Using scroller?

You know, sometimes it's not that hard to go back 1-2 pages and find out since it only was released ytd. It took me just 1 minute to find 2 posts. Here they are.

Not all mouse can support the page scrolling using the wheel, so far the only one that is accurate is Apple's Magic Mouse / Trackpad when it comes to scrolling. Based on my experience, sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't, especially on Safari. So I just use my fingers instead tongue.gif

i think unless you are using final cut pro or some heavy rendering(that also iPad Pro works better than some laptops), it should be fine.

I'm gonna try to replace my laptop too, hoping going forward, I might not need to get a laptop to replace it.

I can envision the iPad Pro being useful for me for its mobility, even with the Magic Keyboard, it is a lot more mobile than a MBA.

Some light photo editing for my part time/hobby. But mostly office work.. multiple excel.. actually i worry about this. I think office apps cant multitask right? As in i cant open 2 excel files at once? I never used Numbers.. is it any good?

magic mouse is surprisingly durable. over the 10 years i use them on daily basis, it's still working as it should be. dropped it a few times.

i'm still using the first generation, battery replaceable. even the newer rechargeable type, i think you'll get over it. end of the day, we charge our phone x1/ day, magic mouse x2/month at most.

Or alternatively use Google Sheets via browser. The Excel on iPad is really limited - I get frustrated because I can't work as the same speed as I do on a computer / laptop. So basically work laptop for work, iPad for personal use. Don't need alot of formulas and macros for personal use on Excel icon_idea.gif

If you are mostly using Office, the iPad Pro may not be the right choice for you. In my experience Excel is a pain in the a** to use in iOS/iPadOS. You will waste a lot of time on opening and closing multiple files.

No you can’t open 2 excel files side by side. The workaround is using Split View with one file in Excel and one file in Numbers. But that is provided that your spreadsheet is mostly basic data and doesn’t involve complicated formulas as Numbers may not be able to render them correctly. Numbers is aesthetically nicer looking, but functionality wise it is vastly inferior to Excel.

But on the other hand, Microsoft is due to release a new Office app for iPadOS (the iPhone app is already available) later this year. They may improve the multitasking experience with the update, but nothing is sure for now.

Have you considered the new MacBook Air instead? The iPad Pro is superior than MacBook Air in many ways, but macOS is just so much better in handling Office files compared to iPadOS. The MBA will have no problem with light photo editing as well.

Ah that was my major concern as well but I mainly use the numbers app so I read that it can split view so I think I'm safe here haha

i'm pretty sure they experiment it indoor. my guess is they want to differentiate tablet and laptop with different user experience. second, sales. it will cannibalize macbook sales which user will only spend one time money on present two machines.

I think the cannibalization is very minimal. Both products has its own need states and placement within the product mix.

It's normal for consumers to feel conflicted to choose either products - MacBook Air vs iPad Pro because there is a norm of a traditional laptop will always be more convenient / function vs a tablet. If you deep dive into what you really want, ie: your need states, then you can differentiate the roles of each devices.

I had both, a Macbook and an iPad Pro - figured I spent most of my time on my iPad and my Mac was just sitting there collecting dust because the iPad is functional for me. I can watch my media anywhere at any setting (bed / chair / outdoors / standing / working out) while I can't do that with my Mac - just sitting on the table and thats it because its too uncomfortable to place it on your lap.

My 2 cents.

Agree. What’s your take on iPad with MacOS?
