Western Digital 160GB Sata2 - 32c

Western Digital 250GB Sata2 - 35c

Both on normal non-airconditioned room temperature, cooled off by a Noctua fan as front intake..

proud to say that my WD hard disks run pretty smoothly at the mid 40s celcius...

desktop-46 degrees
lappy-42 degrees.

By the way, a hard disk always has an optimum tempature to run smoothly, making it too low or absurdly high can be a problem for the functionality of the hard disk...

TS has to define why high temps.. i assume at 40 degrees to 50 degrees will destroy/kong the hard disk faster?

And i believe that as long u run the hard disk at operational temperatures given by the company, you wont have problems with your hard disk rolleyes.gif

Just google for the HDD datasheet. It should have the operating temperatures in there.
For ST3320620AS @ Seagate 320GB, it's 0 - 60c.
