mine hdd wd 160gb approximately 38c.
oh ya..is every pc diff? cos mine temp1 is the system temp and temp2 is the cpu, and temp3 i don't know what is it, it show -2c just like rsangel :/

i have an ideas of doing a peltier cooling for my HDD.
i'll try to do this weekend and post up here.

i want my HDD to be below 28C all the way.

hehe all my hdd jus check 35C..all blow with SS stock fan..no air con room sweat.gif

mine :

150gb raptor 10k rpm
250gb 7200rpm
320gb 7200rpm
40gb 5400rpm

dunno if the readin not accurate..using everest to read it smile.gif

Mine WD160 SATAII also is 38C. Maximun is 52C .... quite close to danger limit

I have two hdd in my rig and both hdd are running at 40-42C idle. Is it too high?

IMO, anything below 50°C is ok already, 45°C you need to worry while above than 55°C, you better start doing something to cool it down icon_idea.gif

why the Seagate 7200.10 still around 43C cry.gif
last time I placed the Maxtor in the same position as the Seagate, but maxtor just showed <40C only

yeap... i do think so icon_idea.gif, it applies to all HDD... smile.gif

searched through google, i can't find any good source or any, but most of them (found from discussion about ideal temp for HDDs), it's around 50°C~55°C icon_idea.gif

Never mind la. Hard disk have no problem run a little hotter. This is what I found out when googling about hdd temperatures.

According to Google engineers " Lower temperatures are associated with higher hard disk failure rates. "

my bro's Seagate Baracuda 7200.10 320GB 16MB is 36... idle...
my WD 320GB 16MB is 33 idle... unsure.gif

Izzit true if u use a Sata 2 hardisk on a Sata 1 mobo, the tempt. will be high. Or its just a myth?

So its not true. But i used a software to monitor my hardisk temperature. The sata2 HDD runs @ higher tempt. blink.gif

Very much higher compared to the sata1 HDD.
