Emm I mean, Intel wouldn't know if we're running at 1.6V anyway?
It's not easy to kill an Intel chip normally but I used to have AMD keychains smile.gif
*
I've got frens working in Intel Failure Analysis dept. it's possible to deduce what kind of failure causes, eg overvolt etc to the exact point. guess they know their way around

Most E2140s wall around 400. Actually with air cooling most dual cores are probably limited to somewhere around 400-500 fsb.
*
i think a realistic range should be 450fsb max. i've not seen >450fsb at least on air cooling.

like i said, the black box theory...

Colin, try to ask ur friend, how do they verify the cpu failure. laugh.gif

Colin? Colin who? laugh.gif

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Dec 10 2007, 02:00 AM)
True but most of the time, warranty goes through but at the first place, it's not easy to kill a CPU.
*
yeah the FA is meant for High Volume manufacturing, not for warranty purposes. Think it's not feasible to run FA on every single RMAed CPUs

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Dec 10 2007, 07:16 AM)
The process to overclock the CPU is the same as the rest. Just follow the guides smile.gif
You can do some mild overclocking if you're worry burning the CPU.
*
or , you could loan ur cpu to our Ocing expert for a session of maxing our CPU out . Claw would love doing that biggrin.gif

Btw, i've got my M0 E2140 @ 3.2ghz @ 1.3v (bios) prime stable. Haven tested fully yet with lower volts...don u juz love how they clock thumbup.gif

those oem chips bro? wah... dun tempt me leh...  cry.gif

hmm... it could be a nice chip to play with while prayin for q6600 price to drop...  tongue.gif

tee hehe ..

Anyways i juz noticed something

E2140 L2 @ 3.0ghz @ 1.3875V load temps =54C

E2140 M0 @ 3.2ghz @ 1.315v load temps = 65C

huge load temps difference, considering the significant voltage drop on M0. anyone of you guys having these too?

depend on luck bro, not all can do that with low voltage, like mine...  sad.gif

manage to shave off some volt after changin to p35 board, but still my chip need quite high voltage to achieve 3.0GHz & above...  shakehead.gif

how high isit needed for >3.0ghz?

My E2140 defaults @ 1.1875v .. am i the only one?

Despite lower Vcore but temps are still higher than the L2 eh? biggrin.gif
Maybe you should try and see what's the maximum it can go.
*
yup weird eh...tats y i was wondering if i'm the only one stucked with this issue. i'll be settling for 3.2ghz i think thats da sweet spot

Seems to be that way. Clawhammer is at 3.2 GHz, I'm at 3.2 GHz as well.
*
i mean, what does ur core temp reporting @ 3,2ghz load? coz mine, there's a HUGE temp load difference with L2 and M0

mm i've mounted and tested it with a few cpus...i guess it's pretty consistent as some of the e2160 M0 reporting 60+ C too...

If you guys have gone tru some forums, yeah the E2160 n 2140 is the better overclocker over the E2180. Both E2140 & E2160 overclocks equally well, but off course it boils down to luck. Realistically speaking, you wouldnt hit >3.2ghz on Air cooling with optimal voltage increment/Load Temps, so the E2140 should do the job well, unless you on Water C ...you could have better luck on E2160

but akim 3.08 you run on stock voltage right....? i wonder y 3.2 is too hard to reach...maybe the wall factor...

like it has been said, getting a cpu is a draw of luck. some get less walled CPUs, some gets 'more' walled cpu. If your on any good decent OC board + knowledge in OC, the board is obviously not the limiting factor

Well... the foil have a very high conductivity since well... it's real aluminium, just really really thin. Took a few times for me to get it done right, well... me and my chubby fingers laugh.gif

It's folding now, 58°C load on both cores from CoreTemp, using a Xigmatek S963 for cooling and some shitty thermal paste that was bundled with the Alpha PAL8045 HSF moons ago. laugh.gif
*
ur on Coretemp 0.95/96? u should -15C from that. For L2 E2XXX, thermal junction is 85C, not 100C. Coretemp 0.94 will show the correct temp
