I read over at Polygons forums that sometimes it wont boot with right OC settings on a 800 FSB cpu. Also found a report of the onboard soundcard malfunctioning with new 823 bios.

so far mine is ok. smile.gif

Is the Biostar a reliable board?

OK. here's what i found out.

as mentioned by others, i DID face the same thing. 400mhz option - sound screwed. check out my Review. I've updated it again. This lowered their score by far cos I'm freakin pissed. Their latest BIOS allowed 1:1 ratio for 400mhz processor which i'm very happy about and gave them perfect score but............oh well, heck it shouldn't be perfects core anyway. tongue.gif I changed my mind.

the board was good. it's just the BIOS issue.

95% done BIOS is fine.

but from what i observe, the P35 BIOS was horrible.

till now, even my EIST i disabled in BIOS, my multiplier still keeps changing. latest BIOS choose 400mhz on RAM config then audio won't work.

and that's the 3rd BIOS, EIST still like that.

sorry long time didn't use Intel setup BUT AFAIK EIST multiplier shouldn't be jumpign once in disabled EIST.

or else waffor the system allow me to choose multiplier to set. smile.gif after DISABLE the EIST, the option allowed me to set multiplier. so i set 8 la. boot to Windows, i still see 6. smile.gif jumps automatically to 8 when it's processing. so makes no difference.

aik, why la CM extreme 430w :S

no offence but i really dislike that psu, it killed 3 pc's already  cry.gif

so unlucky?

i bought that PSU. tried. hated it. sell off to friend.

after a year or 2 of usage, it finally died. hehe. no computer were injured during the death, he just bought another (i think same one) to replace.

my CM Realpower 450w is fine though. so far so good.

unbelievable... screenshots pls... smile.gif

which is the unbelievable part? smile.gif

KVR DDR2 667 2GB OCing is normal la.

IMO if stock cooler then 51c is surely not possible.

cos my E2140 with optimized air-flow case + stock heatsink, full load at 25c room also reach close to 70c.

now change the cooler to Xigmatek S1283 + AC MX2, full load at 25c room also reach close to comes to around 51c.

maybe processor can't take it?

i got to 3.2ghz without having to set anything to the RAM.

before my BIOS patch, the 3:5 ratio and i ran the system at 2.2ghz with DDR2 667 running at 900 speed. smile.gif

yup 8x333 is a good start.

if you're going 8x400 - please monitor the temperature, it gets hot after 3ghz IMO.

smile.gif nice leh. i only reached 3ghz+ a few weeks after i got the board, simply because the BIOS lack OCing features until a little update.

after that, 8x400. smile.gif which is what i'm running now. record is 8x416 or something like that.
