Alpine White inspiron 1520 nice anot ?
*
alpine white the surface is not microsatin....its glossy...u will leave lots of scratches after some period...

p/s: microsatin: they contribute to the durability of the laptop (less scratches, fingerprints), its matte surface...

like tht better extend the warranty.if lcd broken also not so worry
*
complete cover is a good choice to have a peace of mind of 3 years....

but how if our laptop get stealed? doh.gif is US, they have this warranty which cover robbery, that means u lost ur laptop, u go

lodge a police report like u lost ur car, and u give dell ur report statement and they will give u the brand new one...

but this cannot be lied, coz they can detect once u use ur laptop to online...as what my friend working at dell told me,

they have a special team to enforce such thing to ensure u r telling the truth... but question comes to me, why malaysia dun have such thing???

the world is not fair... rolleyes.gif

hi, i just got my dell 1520 about two weeks ago. But, when i play games, the screen will lag. After awhile, the screen will blank out n return normal after a few seconds. A ballon appears with "your video hardware encouter a problem and stop working, and fully recovered". I did check on the solution and I was asked to download the graphics card driver. I downloaded but I still hav the problem. Has anyone encounter the same problem wid me? Anyone has solution? Btw, my os is vista n graphics card is nvidia 8600gt
*
u need to do some tuning at ur graphic card preferences....set the performance against graphic quality...

many ppl face this, but after tuning, everything back to normal...

overheating is quite a low probability event on 1520 (assuming the thermal compound is working properly). the massive heatsinks and heat pipes in 1520 makes it arguably one of the coolest laptop with dedicated graphics ever built. either way, if your laptop does power up, try to check the temperature with hardware monitoring software. the simplest one u can try is called HWMonitor. also, even if it's overheat issue, u can power up in less than 5min because the system cools off very quickly due to the magnesium alloy metal case.

i would suspect something else, like faulty motherboard?
*
its aluminium isnt it?

nope, inspiron 1520, 1420, 1720 and corresponding vostro series are all made with magnesium alloy metal chasis (and lid). xps series however, are made with aluminium to save weight and thickness. that's why the body of the 1520 is built like a TANK, and im not joking. i've seen the inside before, the chasis armor is really that thick and durable.

try holding a competitor laptop like acer 5290G series with one hand on the sides. u'll notice flex and creaks going on because of the cheap material used. try the same on inspiron. no visible flex, no creaks. the downside is the overall weight and thickness
*
haha.....dude...it's a tank...i believe what u said....coz im owning one now...now i know how they make the laptop lighter... thumbup.gif

just shut down your computer, start it back up, while starting it back up, press F8 on your keyboard and there is some stuff in there that you could do.

wow, that's really bold of you. i was under the impression that they will slap a bill for all those things if you dont return those, because when i had my laptop replaced, they asked for all those back, especially adaptor and battery. darn, should have kept them.
*
haha....i dun mean to do that, my friend from dell said, when u return, the just dumped the spoiled one at the warehouse...

dell workers have too many work to handle...they won open the box up to check as well...

u may wanna ask, why din they check when they collect from me?

well, they din collect from me...is the courier company that collect from me... laugh.gif
