I'm sure there're ultra-weight performance based laptop. Somehow, those desktop replacement models tend to be heavier. biggrin.gif

Then you should get 1520 but instead to go for XPS M1330. whistling.gif

Don't worry, it will not void your warranty

For me, XP is much faster than Vista. Initially I have some problem with XP drivers, but now all solved and is working beautifully (check post 1)
*
Not sure if you want to claim warranty from Dell, you may have to restore the OS to whatever it came with. Let's say if it came with Vista, you need to restore Vista back. This happened to HP/Compaq laptops. A disclaimer and reminder by HP CS.

It's much better if Dell could offer or give 7200rpm HDD. So far, there's still no promotion on FREE HDD upgrade such as larger capacity or faster rpm. hmm.gif

If I were you, I won't be taking such risk. Those paddings are meant for absorbing shocks and protection from scratches.

My laptop has 9 cell battery and the Dell Backpack can't fit in. So I have to remove the inner padding sad.gif
*
Alternatively, you can take out the 9-cell battery during transportation. biggrin.gif

Is there an extra in the Mouse Properties (access from Control Panel)? If there's, you can disable from there.

anyone bought 1520 without the tv tuner and travel remote control and manage to get one from dell? i wanted to get one but email dell but never reply...sigh!  mad.gif
*
You want the travel remoted or TV tuner? I don't think Dell has the option to sell the TV tuner with this model.

What's the difference between the two modes?

Laptop or 2.5" HDD comes with either 4xxx, 5400 or 7200 rpm. 7200rpm variant just becomes popular these few years back when mobile users demand for performance.

How to test whether the LCD has dead pixel?
*
There's software to do so ... if it's too obvious, it can be seen on the LCD itself depends on how big and many of the dead pixel(s).
