Same thing for HP and Acer as i know. And most Acer model have both slot at the base, Hp also. Changing of RAM and HDD will not void your warranty provided no physical damage to the system, means dun plug the ram in the wrong way and crack the slot then they will say bye bye to you and your warranty might be void.

For 1520, RAM slot 1 is located at the base of the sys and RAM slot 2 is at the bottom of the kyb.

This slot placing is sucks. Maybe on 1525, Dell will rectify it for 15 incher? Gotta be more user accessible like 1420.

For now every version of Vista sucks, but exception should be given to Ultimate edition which means you already invest your money to get the top specs of your PC. Vista Home Basic is even suckier, a crippled version of Ultimate potential and features. The most suckiest is Starter Edition. shocking.gif

If you opt for Home Basic, I beg you to consider XP Home SP2 instead. cool2.gif

Erm... I have been using Vista Ultimate since i receive my laptop. I love the dreamscene. Damn cool, in what sense that vista fails you? So far still ok, but it takes longer time to complete startup compare to XP. However, the features it have are almost 90% same as XP. Just change the look to make it nicer and 3d. Of course, make sure you always download the latest update for it. Unless you are using AHEM version from pasar then I am sorry to say, it sucks. Besides that, give a little time for them to improve it. Lol. All products like this, when it just release, sure got many problems, and it will be fix. Sometimes this is unavoidable cos programmers only program the OS, but users is the one using it. So they need the users info and help to improve the situation.

Dun worry, they have no way to determine it unless you break something. The sticker is not a big deal, use a sharp blade, cut it through the cover line which makes the sticker break off nicely and smoothly. Dun be such a stupid idiot and just open the cover and tear off the acer sticker la cos will make the sticker break unevenly. So far have been doing this for many many times to upgrade customer ram and no warranty void issue. So no worry bout it. But remember, dun break any parts inside such as the ram holder and the cover clip. If you dunno how to fix and break it, i can only say, "Bye Bye". Besides that, it is allowed for customer to upgrade ram and HDD(asked Acer and Hp b4). And many forumers have the experience also, i seen this from many of the post also.

One last question, what are the different between Windows vista home basic and Windows Vista Home Premium?? what are the additional feature of using Windows Vista Home Premium?

Added on December 2, 2007, 7:48 pmoh yea, anyone bought 1520 in white colour? is it cool? Or a regret? cause i plan to buy white too

Added on December 2, 2007, 8:34 pmSorry another question, should i go for 2GHz or a 8600GT Graphic Card? (both same price) i like gaming. but isnt it a 8400 GS is good enough? on the other hand without a good Processor i cant play the games smoothly right but is 1.6Ghz fast enough or a 2Ghz is 'MUST'? anyone please advise. just your oppinion will do. if i order both is over my budget so i can only decide to pick one of them

Erm... I dun use ultrasharp screen, however, it means you have higher resolution and the graphic is more detail, and the picture will be smaller too. Truelife is the screen surface is glass-like which gives a better and clearer picture but may reflect in bright environment. NOn-truelife mean non-glossy screen which looks like a layer of cloth, it picture look less clear but it can be seen better under bright environment.
Bout the upgrade, i would say both. Try to save up a bit and chec out during pc fair. Cos laptop is not like pc which you can plug in the graphic card as you like when you have money and want to upgrade. You need to make sure it is up to your satisfaction or else you will regret and cant change anything.(T.T like me, should have spend for the 3yr warranty.) But if you really want to choose one of it, i would say processor.Cos it play more major part in computing. However, since you use for gaming, check out what type of game you play and is it playable with 8400gs. Bout this you can ask HellRyzer, he using 8400gs and playing many games. Windows vista home basic dun have aero and windows vista home premium got. Those are some graphic feature such as the glassy look, the 3d-flip which looks "COOL" on vista. (Lol, i prefer the linux beryl effect, damn cool).

Bout the colour, i actually wanted white at first, but when i get to touch it during pc fair, then i change colour. Cos its not the white i want, i though it is glossy and shiny like those on MAC but it is not. It has a very "plastic" look which i dun like. This is just my opinion, not representing all. Dun bomb me for this. You might like it so i would not say no at all.

Truelife is a Dell marketing jargon for reflective LCD screens (more like a mirror when it's turned off) which is great for movies and games nod.gif due to high color and contrast but might be bad if you're working your Office documents under the sun or bright lights. This is the same situation like other brands' BrightView, ColorShine, CrystalBrite etc.

Windows Vista Basic edition provides a crippled (cut-down features with no fancy AERO interface) windows environment for users. So they are expected to upgrade to better versions of Windows Vista in future. Vista fans should really answer his questions since I think Vista just sucks. cool2.gif Better stick with XP if you care for gaming most. cool2.gif

About decising a tradeoffs between a good GC and a good PROC, we need to know the truth of gaming requirement. Most games placed a greater important on a better spec GC than a PROC. If you really on a tight budget and care most for gaming, better choose better GC than PROC. But if you want your investment secure for future games, it's best to opt for the best of both worlds. icon_idea.gif

NEED EVIDENCE? Just look here for gaming benchmarks that some of us have contributed so far (look for a particluar budget-concious benchmarks contributors). We could GAME ON regardless of budget, if we CHOOSE WISELY. notworthy.gif
