QUOTE(voscar @ Jan 20 2020, 11:51 AM) Frequent polish is not a concern. Problem is almost 90% of detailing/car wash shop in Malaysia doing roti canai job. All they knew is putting polish cream in the rotary sponge and turn it on putting pressure on your car and let it spin spin spin. FYI my car is VW which supposed to have thicker clear coat compare to cheaper national car, yet my paint already faded after 4 visits for polishing job outside due to "overpolishing" There are many grades of polish. Some are corrosive, some aren't abrasive while some are abrasive Bangla don't know the difference.

QUOTE(AllnGap @ Jan 20 2020, 12:13 PM) If your car is always parked indoor, don't have polish frequently as watermark won't build up cuz no rainwater but if I drive in the rain, then park indoor, the water would take some time to dry off. Would i be better off wiping it away? I assume that the wax I have applied would make it easier for me to wife the water off the surface Is it correct that the wax is the thing that makes the color stand out, shiny and all? Like how it is in the showroom

Like how it is in the showroom Depending on how you want to take care of the car paint. Cause if just wipe, the dust will scratch the paint. Since you have a layer of coat or wax, it will scratch those instead. So it's sort of still protecting the base coat. As for shiny, you need to constantly go wash your car and apply coat. It also depend on your coat brand/quality. Some will last 1 month, some 3 months and some 6 months. Currently I am experimenting using shampoo that can easy use for cleaning after rain. There are lots of such products out there from meguiar's to turtle wax to sonax to triplewax to rainx and so on. Spray on and then wipe and buff. Doesn't clean tough stains but if only rain water, it is sufficient. This post has been edited by abubin: Jan 20 2020, 04:55 PM

Like how it is in the showroom Yes, it will airdry but this will likely leave watermarks/dust where the beads are. If your car has a layer of wax, try get those Quik Detailers or Spray Waxes [Meg's Quik Detailer etc] to spray on and wipe off with a clean towel. Avoid wiping water from your car without any form of product as you risk scratching the car with the towel. Usually I keep a bottle of either Waterless Wax or Quick Detailer in my boot for these quick fixes. Polish is key for the shine to come forth and paint imperfections to be removed, and wax is like the sacrificial layer that helps lock it in or gives some form of barrier, hence the water beading/hydrophobic effect you tend to see on cars that have been detailed/coated.

Coating does not last long especially if you send your car to a car wash shops and weather in malaysia greatly affects the coats. So dont blame shop if they dont do job well... just go for a annual visit maintenance
Some of them uses strong chemicals to remove the coats. I was told by ceramic pro not to visit the ones they mention
Nowadays have new tech of coating where they spray both ceramic nano coating and PPF onto the car body ( the ppf technology identical to rubberdip ) but very expensive. Most likely rich cars do it only
Ceramic Pro's Magnus PRO PPF includes their hydrophobic technology on their PPFs.

I prefer paint correction and then ppf. And maybe ceramic coating on top of ppf.

QUOTE(Vervain @ Jan 23 2020, 12:16 PM) plastidip is too expensive here to be worth using for body paint. Plus it is hard to get the spray to be evenly done. For wheels or emblems, it's fine.

Not sure if im making the right decision, as initially i wanted to go for full car wraps. They do a lot of ads on facebook and their website is very well created. I also almost went for them. If not mistaken their price is like RM499 for the cheapest one, right? Maybe you go try and then let us know? LOL..personallly, I won't go for expensive coating cause if like 2k for coating, I might as well go for PPF wrapping.
