QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jul 20 2007, 11:18 AM) IMHO:1. Chinese parents focus more on education instead of sports. 2. Chinese are generally more interested in Chinese-dominant sports like basketball and table tennis. 3. Not enough opportunity? 4. Playing football in Malaysia is not exactly the best way to live a comfortable life. I'm really not sure about this racial-based selection. But due to its sensitivity, i don't think we should discuss about this point.... well, at least not publicly LOL.This post has been edited by zc_squash: Jul 21 2007, 05:40 PM |

QUOTE(zc_squash @ Jul 21 2007, 05:39 PM) IMHO: Even at MSSD level for secondary schools in the Damansara area, you can count the number of Chinese who play football on both hands. The problem begins at the grassroots level. Only private schools like Sri KDU have a majority of Chinese in their football squad.1. Chinese parents focus more on education instead of sports. 2. Chinese are generally more interested in Chinese-dominant sports like basketball and table tennis. 3. Not enough opportunity? 4. QUOTE(zc_squash @ Jul 21 2007, 05:39 PM) 4. Playing football in Malaysia is not exactly the best way to live a comfortable life. What about playing overseas? Many of us have had overseas education where we have the opportunity to get some proper training, whether it be for representing the school or university. I understand that not many Chinese want to end up playing in our local league, but it doesn't mean they can't look abroad. That way, they will have quality training and if they choose to do so, represent the nation. |
