QUOTE(tan_aniki @ Sep 2 2020, 11:42 AM) QUOTE(majorarmstrong @ Sep 2 2020, 11:47 AM) Contradicting views: one prefers lower NAV, the other prefers higher NAV.My advise: Set your own target and do whatever you want without need to consider so much. If one stomach the volatility, just put everything into FD. |

QUOTE(majorarmstrong @ Sep 2 2020, 01:06 PM) Read this article:QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Aug 31 2020, 11:28 AM) Retirees impacted by low interest rates The drop in interest rates is significant. It was only at this time one year ago that the OPR stood at 3%. The OPR then was cut several times as the year 2020 began, with the first cut happening in late January – a cut to 2.75%. The government recently announced the issuance of a sukuk called Sukuk Prihatin, a syariah-compliant investment instrument. The sukuk can be subscribed to with a minimum of RM500 at a profit rate of 2% per annum for two years. Lee said that on the fact that the government is issuing these bonds at a 2% rate and being government-guaranteed was a signal that interest rates could stay at these levels for at least the next two years. https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...-interest-rates |

QUOTE(tan_aniki @ Sep 3 2020, 09:58 AM) It looks like another MPF but the fund mandate allows more flexibility for the fund manager to exert on the fund asset allocation any time based on market condition:QUOTE Principal Investment Strategy The Fund may invest primarily in high quality fixed income securities including government securities, commercial papers, corporate bonds and money market instruments. The Fund will be actively managed to provide liquidity to meet the short to medium term cash flow requirement. The Manager may allocate up to 100% of the Fund in fixed income securities or up to 100% of the Fund in cash, liquid assets or other permitted investments. The average duration of the portfolio shall not be more than two (2) years. Asset Allocation 1. 0% to 100% in money market instruments and fixed income securities; and 2. 0% to 100% in cash, liquid assets or any other permitted investments https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/fsmone/adm...nceMYOAMOCE.pdf |

Lure of Malaysia’s high-yield bonds
![]() PETALING JAYA: Malaysian government bonds, which are among the higher-yielding ones in the region, will continue to attract foreign interest in the medium term. This trend will also be backed by improving sentiment as economic activities continue to rebound, while global liquidity remains high, analysts say. A bond trader with a local brokerage pointed out that the US Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates near zero for a longer period, plus the prospect of a weakening US dollar, should benefit Asian bonds, which offer better returns. “Suppressed yields on US Treasury bonds will drive demand for Asian government debts. “And Malaysian local government bonds will benefit as they are among higher-yielding ones, ” the trader told StarBiz. OK la, the unit become abit more but if later drop also drop more. Explained to him many many times by many many people but apparently he seems like not listening; left ear in, right ear out. |
