Actually, white primer is not really white. Its usually a light shade of gray, like for example, the Mr Surfacer ones. And well, primer is able to coat a black surface better than normal paint can.

there s also mr white surfacer...which combine the white of mr white base and those grade (500,1000,1200) from mr surfacer...good stuff
