Cue "I'm too old for this shit". I'm just turning 41 next month, and I feel old as hell sometimes. Everything hurts, I can't stand modern music, games now feel too money-grabby. Still, I will always love video games, even if I'm mostly reading articles or watching other people play. Old games on the other hand, I still love. I just got around to playing and finishing Elevator Action Returns last weekend. Now that's my jam.

mine was an AMD Am386DX-40, lasted me quite a while, basically can run almost any games we threw at it, just need to tweak config.sys and autoexec.bat
it even survived until Win95 era and played Wing Commanders after adding soundcards and a CD-ROM drive

What's your take on the Mister? Is it as good as real hardware? I know the whole point of the Mister is that it does HARDWARE emulation of the original console. It's not just emulating the software.

But a part of me still prefers running the original games on original hardware. I have to admit freely though. Those games are mostly for the sake of collecting, not for playing.

To be fair the DOS version was gimped. I too was an expert on the DOS version. Then one day I found the arcade version in Subang Parade and konon wanted to 1 coin the game. Holy shit it's hard.

The DOS version had a lot of things missing / changed too.

1. Only 1 magic animation for each character, regardless of number of potions you have
2. Special attack (attack+jump) does not knock down enemies
3. The downward stab (run, then jump and attack) does not work
4. Some extra animations like the flying feathers on eagle stage are missing

But I never knew what I was missing, so it was fine. I literally could play Golden Axe on repeat, game after game. And somehow never got tired of it.

Looks like Dying Light 2 is fast becoming another CP2077. "Console GPU is holding us back". Needing PC hardware with tweakable graphics options to run smoothly. Tymon Smektala is the lead game designer of Dying Light 2 at Techland.

P/S: "servers" is typo-ed as "sewers" in the tweet below. Another reason to not bother about online multiplayer anything, PvP, PvE, or Co-op. Life gets better and simpler when you eliminate that part in a game.

I only keep up with the news to make an informed decision on whether to move a game from my wishlist into the cart, and the right platform to play/buy it on, where it's not held back by some technicalities like availability(console or specific store exclusive) or hardware restrictions. The carry-over habit of DYOR (Do Your Own Research) from investing and market trading I do.

Otherwise I'm like you, minus the "I don't keep up with the latest games anymore". I may buy my games earlier than 2-3 years after release at discounted prices, only because my platform of choice, PC, drops its price faster than 2-3 years after release. I'm just like you, except that I've a system (from the DYOR habit) I use to keep myself updated on all things tech and gaming, only because I have so much free time WFH.

Cant help it, I'm just built that way. Other people keep up with the best foods, I keep up with tech. I can eat the same food everyday and not feel bored of it, it's just nourishment to keep you alive. Just like how you can live with just FH5 and MCC and not feel bored of it (for now), it's just entertainment, not a necessity.

I bought the gamepass 1year subscription. Downloaded 6 games half off my disk drive gone haha. Quite satisfied with it for now
