Have been using the Series X for a few days now. It is everything I wanted it to be and more.

Everything loads so fast with the SSD, and the framerates are buttery smooth in virtually game I have tested. I have been out of touch with console gaming recently due to the inconvenience in the past few years. Going back to the ancient long load speeds on my Xbox One after playing COD Mobile or PUBG on my phone didn't make sense. On top of that, the constantly dropping framerates on Xbox One was very noticeable. Because of this, my Xbox Controller has spent most of the past MCO months strapped to my phone mount for COD Mobile. Lot of phone comparisons I know, but I think it is relevant to the times.

I can safely say the Series X is pulling me back in to console gaming again. The drastically improved load times is such a huge improvement, fast travelling in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and switching cars in Forza Horizon 4 feels as fast as loading a game on a smartphone, except it's on a huge tv playing in 4K 60FPS with HDR! Testing out games which have suffered in performance last gen like PUBG and Jedi: Fallen Order and now running in locked 60FPS is just so exciting. Gears 5 is a great showcase and the multiplayer is more fun than I expected too.

Quick resume works like magic. Game pass is also the best value in gaming ever, nuff' said?

Seriously I'm having such a great experience that I am already shopping again thinking of which next Series X optimized game to get. I have been waiting so long to be this excited again for consoles, next gen is definitely here and it is off to an incredible start with Xbox.

Okay now we are on this topic, I have a burning question to ask -

Would you rather buy a wireless gaming headphones that is XBOX optimized, or just use your standard headphones with Dolby Atmos for Headphones?

I’m on the fence to fully experience this, although the standard headphones requires a 3.5mm connection, which means if I watch a movie / show on Netflix, my controller has to be ‘on me’. But are these ‘gaming headphones’ really worth it?

Simple, will only give you 1 reason.

Reason 1: If money is a concern, Xbox due to ultimate gamepass + eaplay. Period.

lol

Oh not to mentioned Dolby Vision and Atmos.

Game changer man.

imo if you want the full experience, you gotta get the compatible headphones

my first wiresless xbox headphone was razer chimera 5.1 for x360, it's very good imo compared to normal wired one, except the crappy battery life
next was Sony Gold wireless for PS4, it's good compared to normal one,
then I upgraded to Steelseries Arctis Pro, it's compatible for both XB1 and PS4, albeit no chat function on XB1, it's best purchase of my life, good batt life, comfy, doesn't gave me sweaty ears or head pressure from prolong use, and damn good audio too
too bad next gen both console doesn't come with a optical out anymore, meaning I can't use it there
So gotta look for a new wireless headset for next gen consoles, so far the reviews on Arctis 7x isn't bad, might grab that one once I got my next gen consoles
seems that one is compatible with both camp also, which is another plus point.
*
I was looking at the Arctis 7x and 9x, but unfortunately I can’t seem to get any here - seems like a global shortage. I went ahead and ordered the Corsair HS75 XB - it has a larger driver unit at 50mm cool2.gif

Oh speaking of the Arctis Pro, the optical port exclusion from the Series X is such a deal breaker man.

I don't have a strong opinion either way, because most headphones just offer stereo sound. Wired or wireless. I forgot which exact headphone claims to offer Dolby Atmos support on Xbox or PC. Turns out the implementation still uses Dolby Access app. So in the end it's still software.

The wireless headphones of course offer less hassle compared to wired. And if you have the Dolby Atmos for headphones app, it can still use Dolby Atmos for spatial sound. If you don't like being tethered to a wire while playing games or watching movies, wireless would be better.
*
Yup agreed, but I remember reading somewhere that despite the Dolby Atmos for Headphone, if you connect via 3.5mm it will be ‘virtual Atmos’ unlike some that actually gives out ‘lossless’ - I’m not too sure about this as well but so far with 3.5mm on Atmos for Headphones, seems like a game changer for me. But that wireless bit is just nagging out, don’t like being tethered to the controller via wires man.

There’s another brand called Audeze, the model is called Penrose X where it is XBOX certified with ‘audiophile’ experience, but I think the price is abit steep at 1.5-1.6k and that design is just hideous doh.gif

There are even a few who are defending them, how gullible doh.gif

Yup, no point defending them. They won’t repent.

My series S is registered as Xbox One in my Microsoft account. Should I ignore it or is this normal?
*
Not normal, it should reflect your actual device.

The serial number etc all correct?

The sad thing is, GH really was the go-to shop during the 360/PS3 era. I got my first PS3 unit from them too. And despite owning a modded console, I did actually support originals on 360. My 360 games collection is bigger than my PS3 collection. This was the time when I seriously understood the impact software piracy has on game developers. GH and some other shops like Impulse became my places to buy games and accessories. It's actually sad now that we longer talk about GH in the same way...
*
I guess during that time, only a handful of ‘genuine’ gamer shops were around, at that time many were smaller independent business.

Time changed, most businesses emerged with better service and competitive pricing and digitalization also contributed to the shift of behavior as well. GH grew greedy, they knew they were the most popular shop around due to # of outlets = better reach for the audience, but they forgotten the most crucial element of running a business, service.

This is a good lesson for GH, to not take their customers for suckers. But then again, GH will survive, Malaysians are fickle. One darn effective promotion and all is forgotten. mega_shok.gif For me, enough is enough - cancelled my PO for Series X with them.

For now, I no longer wanna stress out over not getting the console before Xmas because I still have a console to play, will continue my FIFA FUT addiction until I get the Series X and move on tongue.gif

Ah you ended up canceling with them. I understand why. The friend's brother in my previous post swore off GH more than a decade ago. I suppose I should probably do the same, but every once a while I might get something from them. They no longer get my exclusive business though. There are more places I can buy from these days.
*
Yup totally with you on this one.

Let’s hope that there’s some light at the end of a very miserable tunnel (2020) soon

My controller broke, so I got this instead.

Probably will use this instead of the Series X one when I get my hands on it. Damn it like lightyears ahead of the normal controller man.

GH didnt publicly state the price, which is also a risk that most PO people took. But if its a European set, expect the price to be 200-400 more expensive laugh.gif

That's why I'm still waiting for impulse - I believe they will actually assist with the RMA process which is the next best thing to a local warranty.

I went to Impulse yesterday and asked them, also no news on next batch. Ahhh bummer

So I heard from Impulse that they are also struggling to get Singapore sets, regardless if its accessories or console - due to the borders being closed etc. That explains why they are sourcing out.

In fact, even my Elite Series 2 controller that I bought from them is a Microsoft HK unit, not a Microsoft SG unit.

Don’t know about you guys but if you’ve bought a new console or controller lately, do you encounter sticky ‘A’ button?

I noticed this on 2 of my new controllers, seems like a consistent problem - check on reddit as well.

You mean the new Xbox Series controllers? Hmmm. I ordered one controller but it haven't arrived yet. Will give it a try after I get it.

I had the issue with my Xbox One controller and my new Elite 2 controller.

I’m not sure if the issue persists with the new Series controller thou, you might wanna test it out at a certain angle once you have it.

My Xbox one controller is fine.
Will test my series controller later.

You should consider the razer wolverine 2 as it uses mechanical switches. Wired though ...
*
Ah bummer, can’t use a wired because I’m playing from a TV.

I heard good stuff from the Wolverine 2 as well.

QUOTE(tripleB @ Nov 26 2020, 03:09 PM)
I used to have sub par experience with my OG Xbox One controllers related to the D-pad, but not the buttons. They fixed the D-pad on the Bluetooth models. This is honestly the first time I heard about the sticky A button though.
*
Initially when I didn’t notice it as well, until I search on Reddit. Seems like a widespread issue.

It has something to do with the adhesive used internally that ‘might’ leak to where the A button is placed. Funny thou.
