The problem with doing this early is that you will ruin a questline in the Round Table.
If you want a real runes exploit farm, go to Lenne's Rise and then run down the path where a giant boulder would appear. Just dodge the boulder and it would roll off the cliff and will kill an enemy below, which would give you an easy 1952 runes for doing absolutely nothing. Then just fast travel back to Lenne's Rise grace spot and do it again.

Do know that doing this too much WILL break the game as you become over leveled.

Here's a vid for reference:

Tip 1: If you do it at night and you get an "Elden shower", the boulder trick may give you 9.5k runes per kill.
Tip 2: Unlike the video of only showing 1 boulder run, you can continue down the path for another 3 seconds and spawn a 2nd boulder.

It's possible to get nearly a million runes in an hour doing this.
*
oh well, guess I've ruined the questline, let's hope it wasn't a major game changing one tongue.gif
will just redo it in New Game Plus then

Finally progressing the main quest after the "world tour" distraction tongue.gif
beaten the first boss after few tries, on the first fight got himself clipped into the castle wall and got stuck there, eventually he got further in the wall where I can't get him and have to kill my self by jumping off the cliff to reset doh.gif
now just reached the top of the castle after countless death... indoor exploration that's the real meat of the soulborne games, and the castle is freaking huge!
wondered too far, got lost, exhausted all of the flasks, strong enemies everywhere, no signs of grace point nearby and you have tonnes of runes on you, and worst... it's already waaaay past your bed time sweat.gif
luckily you found a shortcut just in time, went back to your original grace point, phew~! end game, bed time tongue.gif

Looks like Raya Lucaria being halfway is far from that estimation. Got to the Grand Dectus Lift, went up and a whole new level opens up!

However, have to take time off Elden & gaming for a while. Got doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, and the usual precautions that comes with it. Times like these you get reminded of your age.......

Already "pre-celebrate" with a game purchase for the next door console. Looks like one game releasing tomorrow there is a return to its form since its last numbered release.

Back to Elden, since I've got a build I'm sticking with for a long while, gonna "nibble" at the game slowly, small chunk at a time. Maybe I'll go look for that old tunnel linking Altus Plateau with the lower levels. Or go back to the start and unlock the mist-locked areas with the Swordstone key. Or find out what the hell those blinking footsteps are, at the beach in Limgrave. Small steps.

Or maybe I'm just stalling the main story quests. tongue.gif

One by one. Medical check first tomorrow, taking it easy until then.
*
blinking footsteps? the ghost? I followed one at the academy lake, led me to a cave full of cavemen, since I'm still under level for that area, grab the grace point and get the hell outta there laugh.gif

not getting any younger we are... which reminds me of I need to get appointment for health checkup also, just pray the report card won't be red red sweat.gif

Series X supply is becoming much better in the US, i think over the next few months there isnt going to be a shortage at least on the Xbox side.
*
with GPU price & stocks starting to normalize now, we can expect the same for the consoles as well

we should be able to get them near MSRP in the next few months icon_rolleyes.gif

I've been LIVING in Elden Ring for 4 weeks already, and I've yet to cover it all. Still discovering things. Best money spent, shows you dont need GaaS or Live service to be successful with your games.

I'm not kidding when I say I've been LIVING in ER. Living, breathing, thinking ER. Before I sleep I think about the next questline to do tomorrow after I wake up. This addiction is worse than when Bloodborne had me in its grip last time.

I'm a sucker for story and lore, every new area discovery means new story, new lore. Every new enemy, NPC, boss met and/or kill means new story, new lore. There's new story and lore attached to dropped equipment, items. Every new update of the game FromSoft adds new content, new area, new enemies, new story, new lore. You only have to look around and be inquisitive.

And then, there's the limitless number/combo of builds you can do with armaments, armor sets, spells, skills, incantations, sorceries, ashes of wars, talismans and fine balancing them to get max damage without overloading your max load.

Gotta go. I'm doing another sweep of Leyndell and Raya Lucaria.
*
Hello fellow tarnish, I'm 80 hours in, already SL155 OP with Fallingstar beast jaw+9 & Death Poker+9 combo, but still yet to complete Lindell, which I've arrived last week laugh.gif
this whole week just running around doing side quests and exploring
screwed up some side quest already due to fooling around here & there, gotta redo them in NG+, but that will still be months away tongue.gif
still yet to fully explore Caelid, that's one area in the game that I dislike the most

Elden Ring, spend 2 hours in Caelid exploring and picking up things I missed from the previous quick passing thru, yet I still haven't finish half of the region yet rolleyes.gif

~urrgg!
still hated that place, previously hated it bcos the enemies are very tough, even now after I'm OP still hated it, the disgusting depressing visual and the soul tearing scratching BGM really makes me felt like something is crawling under my skin, kudos to the designer for succeeding to create something like this sweat.gif

I remember firing up "Secret of Monkey Island" on my old EGA-graphics color palette IBM clone PC in the 90s. Every other playthrough after that, was on ScummVM. Then "Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge".

Any "Monkey Island" game not written by Ron Gilbert does not interest me. Therefore no "Monkey Island" game existed after "LeChuck's Revenge" as far as I'm concerned.

Please be good.
*
look! a three headed monkey behind you!

my all time fav thumbup.gif

my time was sneaking into school computer lab and firing up the monochrome 286 & playing it black & white using 8 x 5.25" floppy disc, "Please insert disk 8 to continue" tongue.gif
those time no internet nor guidebook anything, you have to crack your brain for every puzzles, took me hours to figure out how to escape the underwater idol scene laugh.gif
and days to figure out & solve the swordmaster puzzle as my english was pretty poor at that time

since then have played all iteration of MI1 and their sequels

yeah, ever since MI2, the rest of the installments are mediocre at best, plots are forgettable and jokes aren't finnier

let's pray this latest installment doesn't disappoint wink.gif

If you want to recreate that feeling of trying to figure what to do, i really recommend Tunic.  ITs a zelda soulslike mystery.  It's not a monkey island type mystery but the way you discover secrets for youself is something I've not experienced for a long time.  It's story is revealed to you bit by bit as you collect pieces of an annotated NES manual and its meant to be played without the internet relying on secrets and tips shared between friends.  Strong recomend from me.

Still busy exploring Lands Between in Elden Ring...
I've vastly underestimated the scale of this game, guess I'm still another week or two to completing it, and another few more days for victory lap run in NG+ tongue.gif
only then will move on to next games tongue.gif

Weird West is out on GPU, was planning to play GOTG as well, Tunic also... arr... why I no win that 90mil Toto jackpot tongue.gif

They quickly reverted this earlier this year after the backlash.

There are even ways to install retro arch in commercial mode. But that’s really grounds for an account/device ban.
So I’ll stick with the legit dev mode.
*
QUOTE(awol @ Apr 12 2022, 09:57 AM)
just read about it, they reverted back saying its a mistake.  biggrin.gif
the commercial mode is not done by retroarch dev, but by some user (i think no longer available).

please update us with your emulation journey with Series S.
*
I managed to install the Retroarch in my old X1S without using the dev mode, but I don't see how MS can trace and ban the device unless they did a throughout scans on all the devices data
and the apps developed by the user to enable retroarch are kinda in the grey area as well

but after upgrading to XsX, didn't managed to get it back sad.gif

seems the method is lost already

anyway... I've gotten so many version to retroarch already tongue.gif
emulators still run best on PC wink.gif

and most of those old games? I probably just run and play them for few minutes only, just for the nostalgia
and sometimes think, urg~ how did I tolerate this kind of quality and framerate last time? laugh.gif

I really don’t mind retro games.
Especially for couch coop.
Bunch of friends playing old games for nostalgia.
We got a bit bored with the coop games on gamepass.

I’ve retroarch on my anbernic portable device.
Yeah a bit underused after a year.
*
yeah, I brought one of my retroarch machine over during a friend's gathering

we had a blast initially, but at the end of the day, it was hijacked by the kids laugh.gif

good times...

it was pre-covid time tho, nowadays it's kinda hard to get everyone together

Finally 1000/1000 or platted Elden Ring after 100+ hours in it

beaten all minor/major/hidden/optional bosses, watched all endings, completed all NPC quests

Was planning for a victory lap of NG+... but felt burned out after playing it non-stop for months... end up deleting the game and moving on to other games

too many games, too little time tongue.gif

Now you see why I'm not leaving Elden?

Dont get me wrong I'm not exclusively into Elden. I'll still play "meh" games like GhostRunner and Ghostwire Tokyo (once I get around getting them cheap on sale or on GPU), but nothing will be as memorable or impactful as Elden. I practically lived in Elden for the last two months. I tried getting into other games like Elden, I went back to Horizon FW (just to see how I feel about getting back into Horizon before thinking about spending for Forbidden West), but it just feels meh to me. It's a curse. cry.gif
*
heh... no more soul like games for me for at least next few months, gonna take more relax and easier games now after months of running around and dying countless time in Lands Between tongue.gif

tried the critically acclaimed Tunic... it's 2.5D soul like zelda lookalike game... so nope, not so soon, gonna try it later

trying some other GPU games now, see which one will hit the mark wink.gif

That's the thing, dying multiple times in boss fights in Elden is not stressful to me.

I treat it as a physical puzzle that needs to be solved. How do I approach this. I tried this, it didnt work, how about if I try this now? It encourages analytical thinking. Of course, vary your approaches, not repeat the same mistake every time. You know what Einstein say about insanity:

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

That's when stress comes because you're expecting the boss to keel over because you did the same thing over and over, perhaps with better buffed weapons and spells. Sometimes all it takes is a different way of tackling the situation. Not just brute force. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
my Elden ring approach is pure brute force, no block hardly evade, if can snipe I snipe, else CQC to duke it out and see who die first laugh.gif

if i got more time, would love to explore other builds, but since time is a luxury for me, I just slap on anything with highest stats that fits my style tongue.gif

Dude, I'm not young either. My childhood is filled with episodes of Duck Tales, TMNT and Thundercats, all original version ya, not crappy reboots you have now. If time is the reason, I cant help you there. I dont do marathon runs on my Elden Ring playthrough, it's an hour or two a day with extended play on weekends. 20-30 minutes is enough to topple a boss with enough observation on its telegraphing attack patterns and weakness. All I'm saying is, these hands are wrinkled and old. Not an excuse for me not to make Elden Ring "my bitch" as the kids nowadays say it. lol.gif I even dare say Elden Ring is a better way to keep old brains like mine active, better than Brain Age on Nintendo DS. laugh.gif
Patch 1.04 is perfect for you then. Nerfed Sorcery and buffed STR builds. As for your preferred style, it's a personal thing, I have no say on that. I dismissed Sorcery and Ashes of War initially too (check my post history here, I was all into STR tank-like build, I hit a wall of no progress when I hit Malenia boss battle. Since I want to wear her armor set so bad, I force myself to diversify and think outside my boxed-in mentality. That got me through her boss battle, and FromSoft changing things (buffs and nerfs) everytime a new patch drops is their way of encouraging you to explore other builds, other way of tackling the game's challenges.

If time is the reason here you fixated on STR build/way of playing the game, hey! To each his/her own, you cant buy/find time. I'm just happy the game sort of forced me to uproot myself from playing it just one way, and try other way. Maybe it helps when support and encouragements are easily found in the Discord crowd I hang out in,encouraging me to try other ways of playing the game. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Malenia is my first major roadblock, as well as my first & only co-op summon for a boss
wasted whole day fighting her, lazy to re-spec and practice new move sets,
managed to build a juggernaut fortress build that can block all of her attacks without losing health & stamina, but it's a stalemate, she can't kill me, I can't kill her with her constantly healing with every attacks as well doh.gif

and then I think just fuck it and summon 2 other players for co-op, bleeded & kamekameha to death after few tries tongue.gif

Lost in Random, which was just added to GPU

first impression it's not bad, reminds me of the dragonball rpg card games during famicom days, your powers are solely based on RNG cards
It's a bit of slow start tho... takes a while before you gets to real battle using the cards

Tried Far: Changing Tides, an opposite of Elden Ring I must say... calm... serene, light puzzles, good for relaxing

guess I'll play this 2 games first for now...

Or I could just play the Sonic bundle I've got from Steam sale years back, that I hardly even bother to even install anymore.

user posted image

Point is, nostalgia is nice, but you're not fleecing me for it or buying multiple versions of essentially the same copy of it, Sega. Nothing nostalgic is worth that in my book.

Sonic 2 the movie is releasing this week mah, so far reviews coming in are pretty good

so Sega being Sega, why waste this good chance to rake in more cash? Guess they aren't targeting old farts like us but those movie goers hence the title Origin laugh.gif

Far is a good game, good for some peace & quiet time

great for relaxing, puzzle is simple & light but still interesting, no boring fetch quest nor stupid dialog, and best of all, no death, it's impossible to get a game over for this game tongue.gif
