The problem with doing this early is that you will ruin a questline in the Round Table.
If you want a real runes exploit farm, go to Lenne's Rise and then run down the path where a giant boulder would appear. Just dodge the boulder and it would roll off the cliff and will kill an enemy below, which would give you an easy 1952 runes for doing absolutely nothing. Then just fast travel back to Lenne's Rise grace spot and do it again.

Do know that doing this too much WILL break the game as you become over leveled.

Tip 1: If you do it at night and you get an "Elden shower", the boulder trick may give you 9.5k runes per kill.
Tip 2: Unlike the video of only showing 1 boulder run, you can continue down the path for another 3 seconds and spawn a 2nd boulder.

It's possible to get nearly a million runes in an hour doing this.

Looks like Raya Lucaria being halfway is far from that estimation. Got to the Grand Dectus Lift, went up and a whole new level opens up!

However, have to take time off Elden & gaming for a while. Got doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, and the usual precautions that comes with it. Times like these you get reminded of your age.......

Already "pre-celebrate" with a game purchase for the next door console. Looks like one game releasing tomorrow there is a return to its form since its last numbered release.

Back to Elden, since I've got a build I'm sticking with for a long while, gonna "nibble" at the game slowly, small chunk at a time. Maybe I'll go look for that old tunnel linking Altus Plateau with the lower levels. Or go back to the start and unlock the mist-locked areas with the Swordstone key. Or find out what the hell those blinking footsteps are, at the beach in Limgrave. Small steps.

Or maybe I'm just stalling the main story quests.

Gamepass has been keeping me busy.

I've been LIVING in Elden Ring for 4 weeks already, and I've yet to cover it all. Still discovering things. Best money spent, shows you dont need GaaS or Live service to be successful with your games.

I'm not kidding when I say I've been LIVING in ER. Living, breathing, thinking ER. Before I sleep I think about the next questline to do tomorrow after I wake up. This addiction is worse than when Bloodborne had me in its grip last time.

I'm a sucker for story and lore, every new area discovery means new story, new lore. Every new enemy, NPC, boss met and/or kill means new story, new lore. There's new story and lore attached to dropped equipment, items. Every new update of the game FromSoft adds new content, new area, new enemies, new story, new lore. You only have to look around and be inquisitive.

And then, there's the limitless number/combo of builds you can do with armaments, armor sets, spells, skills, incantations, sorceries, ashes of wars,talismans and fine balancing them to get max damage without overloading your max load.

Gotta go. I'm doing another sweep of Leyndell and Raya Lucaria.

I remember firing up "Secret of Monkey Island" on my old EGA-graphics color palette IBM clone PC in the 90s. Every other playthrough after that, was on ScummVM. Then "Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge".

Any "Monkey Island" game not written by Ron Gilbert does not interest me. Therefore no "Monkey Island" game existed after "LeChuck's Revenge" as far as I'm concerned.

If you want to recreate that feeling of trying to figure what to do, i really recommend Tunic.  ITs a zelda soulslike mystery.  It's not a monkey island type mystery but the way you discover secrets for youself is something I've not experienced for a long time.  It's story is revealed to you bit by bit as you collect pieces of an annotated NES manual and its meant to be played without the internet relying on secrets and tips shared between friends.  Strong recomend from me.

There are even ways to install retro arch in commercial mode. But that’s really grounds for an account/device ban.
So I’ll stick with the legit dev mode.

Bunch of friends playing old games for nostalgia.
We got a bit bored with the coop games on gamepass.

I’ve retroarch on my anbernic portable device.
Yeah a bit underused after a year.

Dont get me wrong I'm not exclusively into Elden. I'll still play "meh" games like GhostRunner and Ghostwire Tokyo (once I get around getting them cheap on sale or on GPU), but nothing will be as memorable or impactful as Elden. I practically lived in Elden for the last two months. I tried getting into other games like Elden, I went back to Horizon FW (just to see how I feel about getting back into Horizon before thinking about spending for Forbidden West), but it just feels meh to me. It's a curse.

That's the thing, dying multiple times in boss fights in Elden is not stressful to me.

I treat it as a physical puzzle that needs to be solved. How do I approach this. I tried this, it didnt work, how about if I try this now? It encourages analytical thinking. Of course, vary your approaches, not repeat the same mistake every time. You know what Einstein say about insanity:

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

That's when stress comes because you're expecting the boss to keel over because you did the same thing over and over, perhaps with better buffed weapons and spells. Sometimes all it takes is a different way of tackling the situation. Not just brute force.

Dude, I'm not young either. My childhood is filled with episodes of Duck Tales, TMNT and Thundercats, all original version ya, not crappy reboots you have now. If time is the reason, I cant help you there. I dont do marathon runs on my Elden Ring playthrough, it's an hour or two a day with extended play on weekends. 20-30 minutes is enough to topple a boss with enough observation on its telegraphing attack patterns and weakness.All I'm saying is, these hands are wrinkled and old. Not an excuse for me not to make Elden Ring "my bitch" as the kids nowadays say it. I even dare say Elden Ring is a better way to keep old brains like mine active, better than Brain Age on Nintendo DS.
Patch 1.04 is perfect for you then. Nerfed Sorcery and buffed STR builds. As for your preferred style, it's a personal thing, I have no say on that. I dismissed Sorcery and Ashes of War initially too (check my post history here, I was all into STR tank-like build, I hit a wall of no progress when I hit Malenia boss battle. Since I want to wear her armor set so bad, I force myself to diversify and think outside my boxed-in mentality. That got me through her boss battle, and FromSoft changing things (buffs and nerfs) everytime a new patch drops is their way of encouraging you to explore other builds, other way of tackling the game's challenges.

If time is the reason here you fixated on STR build/way of playing the game, hey! To each his/her own, you cant buy/find time. I'm just happy the game sort of forced me to uproot myself from playing it just one way, and try other way. Maybe it helps when support and encouragements are easily found in the Discord crowd I hang out in,encouraging me to try other ways of playing the game.

Or I could just play the Sonic bundle I've got from Steam sale years back, that I hardly even bother to even install anymore.



Point is, nostalgia is nice, but you're not fleecing me for it or buying multiple versions of essentially the same copy of it, Sega. Nothing nostalgic is worth that in my book.
