Never buy the Sony X90J/X900H, it only has two HDMI 2.1 ports and one of it is eARC, you will struggle with soundbars/home AV + connecting future HDMI 2.1 devices.
Also their VRR support is horrible. Gotta rely on their promises to deliver better functionality OTA.
Sony X90H/X90J is a mid range LCD, it is not a flagship TV. It might not be the best gaming TV but the price of the 55" X90H last year for RM3.6K I would say it's fair with FALD, HDMI 2.1, and decent HDR10 / DV.
However I do agree the recent VRR and android 10 update is trash. I updated my backup X90H and the overall UI becomes so sloppy and laggy. Enabling VRR will lose the local dimming feature which is the very basis for proper HDR implementation.
A second VRR update was released in the US yesterday though and supposedly it is PS5-centric with Auto HDR tone mapping (like HGiG) and will resolve some of the VRR issue. I believe HDTVtest reviewed the first VRR update only.
linkHaving said all this, the X90H will be my last Sony TV though. I am really disappointed at how they handle PS5-HDR and this so called overpromised PS5 ready TV.
