Trust me, the 400 is a lot better as a daily ride than any 250 can be. sporty 250s are tuned for higher end power, which makes it very weak in the midrange, and mid range is what you need in traffic. In terms of weight, there isn't really that much between them if the 250 and 400 are twins.
Even better in city traffic are the 400 class singles. brap brap.
No such thing as cannot use the excess power. I ride a 800 on the daily.
I don't disagree. I used to still travel to Melaka once or twice per month last year when I can still utilize the power on the highway, but since January this year 90% of the time my bike is on the federal highway motorcycle lane

So yea my speed is anywhere between 40~100 these days.
I am contemplating two setups at the moment:
Option 1 (2 bikes setup):
1 scooter: will do two things that no other bikes can do :-
- Shield my legs from splashes when I ride through puddles
- No gear shifting: I am a sucker for white shoes
1 sportsbike - CBR250RR when I need to get on highway/do long distance, or I keep my Ninja 400.

Option 2 (1 bikes setup):
1 sports tourer - maybe a used CBR650R.
I am leaning towards option 1, maybe it's a bit silly to go from a 400 to 250, but I noticed the way I like sportsbike is a lot more emotional (colors, design, cockpit view, exhaust sound) than practical. I just think the CBR250RR has everything I want.
