You are referring to those promo over-the-counter rates? Normal rate only 3.xx? Usually for these type of promo FDs, the interest is credited to your savings account and not compounded. When it matures, it defaults to board rate. To continue with the new promo rates, you need to walk in and top up with 10% more to qualify as fresh fund.

I am thinking that if I transfer on say, 1/6/2020, I won't lose my May dividend and the other party gets the dividend for June.

This of course is assuming the receiver gets the units reflected in his account on the same day, i.e., 1/6/2020.
