Dont go for unifi plus box..
RUGI!!

Netflix not Full HD @ 4K..

Max normal netflix can run up to 980x540 (Version 6++)

Better buy Mi Box. If u wanna use astrokgo, use web browser only..

Or buy 2 too.. TX3 Mini + Mi Box  brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif

Yes. Latest firmware maybe put many features inside make the system boot up time slow. Once I reboot the router with waiting to boot complete to online need at least 3~5 mintues.

If Flash to merlin also same boot up speed right?
*
merlin firmware has even more feature than stock
plus recent update already can enable aimesh
66u still selling like hot cake due to aimesh compatible
and asus will keep supporting aimesh compatible router one

The automatic updates in the current firmware you're using in the AC66U maybe broken, that's why you didn't see any firmware updates
Have to update manually then restore to factory configuration after the update because I believe there's a huge jump in versions so factory restore would be best after that huge jump in firmware updates
Can't expect much when more & more new features are being added into the firmware. What's more the AC66U non B1 is only a single core router
That's why lots of new routers nowadays have at least dual core CPU, some even comes with quad core CPU
*
note, asus quad core router is not supported by merlin
and i would say if cost is a concern, ac66u b1 is good too, other that taobao china ac86u.
would be an extremely worthy investment even when you change new router, it can act as aimesh node.

I haven't got Unifi yet, but just curious is it really necessary to change router or modem to better ones from the default one given by TM?
*
without better router, you cant really get whats your monthly fee worth or service
the default router is full of problem and heavily affected the usage of the user
yes, TM sabotage their own level of service by bundling crappy router to the user

What advantage that you notice after switching to better router compared to TM ones?

What about the modem itself? Also need to change?
*
the modem, or ONU isnt replaceable with your own device, and no need to.
its just a link from fiber optic to your home
what advantage? dota half way lag and ping spike
go whack jay chou concert ticket keep waiting in landing page vs terus enter and bought best seat
who house 10+ device connect to the router and suddenly router restart vs connect 20 device also can 24/7
connected to 5gz wifi and go to toilet at the back of the house still can use vs terus no signal
the list goes on and on but most importantly, changing router save you a lot of chances of swearing dllm during your period with tm unifi.

modem cannot changed but if broken or damage you need to call tm, they will changed it for you, lifetime warranty.

advantage
-got better speed and stable connection
-freely upgrading the firmware without stuck tm router firmware
-no more wifi name @unifi

usually default router they will use for extra ap or backup router. tm firmware can be flashed to original firmware if you followed the right way. But for me better used other router than default one.
*
where can i get details walk through for this?
like that my c1200 can use as an AP at office instead of collecting dust

unfair? its TM we are talking
they had been unfair since couple decades ago.
go and spam MCMC for complaint about unfair practice.
happy or not TM needs to answer MCMC for every single complaint.
best yet, keep on reopen the case do not let TM close case.

I've just subscribe to Unifi Fiber 30mbps before raya. The official new router come from TM (Aztec brand) has limited configuration and small coverage of wifi (wall inside my house is thick)

Can I ask some suggestion for other router (budget below 200 or cheaper) to replace current router? Used or older model also can.
*
you are using 30mbps, i dont think you need to replace ur stock router
if wifi is issue, can try range extender, they are cheap
since you would not wish to spend much on hardware or if you are not planing to upgrade ur fiber plan in near future
you do not need to waste money on new router, to be frank
not being rude but from where i see, your only problem is wifi range
and seriously, even AC86u has limited coverage penetrating walls for 5ghz wifi, it is the nature of the 5ghz
so, either get a range extender or get a cheap second hand router to act as AP
also, try 2.4 ghz connection, it has better coverage
i know is congested frequency but it is more than enough for 30 mbps

as i stated, the problem with the router is limited configuration. even cannot change channel. that's why i'm looking for other option.

i know there's different between 2.4 and 5.0, the problem is even 2.4 cannot cover between living room and bedroom (i live in apartment)

true getting 2nd router as AP can solve the problem, I'm considering that option too.

i just want to replace the crappy router from tm.
*
crappy router as in continuously disconnection or just cannot configure band or channel?
even leave everything for default, not changing any setting for any fiber router
every single one of them are more than enough to support 30 mbps
thats the reason i suggest you to save to money

30mbps is ADSL 2+ speed, which i had it in AUS 20 yrs ago
it would be wise only to update your router if you upgrade your plan
i can tell you frankly anything you get for 200-ish now will be crap after two years
and anything your get probably will not have any improvement over your connection

anyway, i not familiar with newer unifi router, can lemme know the model of the router? good to know also.
also, you mention you leave in apartment, lemme assume and correct me if i am wrong, and i apologize in advance
800+ sqf? i would say probably should inspect your connected device instead, perhaps device wifi receiver got problem?

hello everyone, i have a quick question regarding YEP2019 promo with below T&C:-
"In the event of early termination within the contract, customer will have to pay the remaining months balance as penalty. "
Does it mean if i register in Oct2019 (RM129*24=RM3096) and if i am planning to terminate now, i need to pay RM3096-RM1161=RM1677 as penalty?
No more RM500 penalty?
*
yes no more 500 for termination since last year

Guys, is this normal over wifi? Subscribed to Unifi Advance 300mbps with D-Link DIR-850L. Does replacing a better router will get the full speed of 300mbps?

user posted image
*
for you, then yes, changing router is very wise for you
but, even with 850L, you should get more speed than that, at least 100 mbps
are you connecting to 2.4 ghz? try 5 ghz.

connected 2.4ghz, the connection will be slower and unstable if connecting to 5ghz

which router is good?
*
recently i answered a close friend of mine about which router he needs
and i found out that it required a lot of information just to answer which router is good for anyone

ur budget, ur transmit range, receiver device and your speed expectation on 5ghz?
for example, i am happy to have max speed of my 300mbps on 5 ghz over 1 wall and 1 door, 8 meters apart with my ac86u
however, my friend need to penetrate 2 walls and ac86u isnt perform as good as mine and only achieved just 200 mbps tops
both connected to 2x2 wifi card.
so, list your answer down and a lot of sifus here can help you on this

in terms of specs...ac86u still better than ax56u and ax3000 correct ?

and ac86u has 4 x 4 mu-mimo support...
*
yes 86u is way better than ax3000/ax58u
ignore ax56u
lets agree getting speed plan upgrade is easier now
time is going as fast as 1gbps now, and unifi 800
dont be fools by AX3000 rating
i believe not a lot of people is using AX device right now, even it becomes norm, AX devices or wifi STILL can do AC protocol
then lets see the spec

AX3000 speed on AC is up to 867 Mbps
ac86u speed on AC is up to 2167 Mbps

for now and for whole family as a whole, AC is the standard protocol for everything
pc, phones, table, tv, tvbox, tv sticks
being an AX device itself isnt future proof right now
especially AX58u because it is not a wifi 6 certified router
when AX58u came out wifi6 is still in draft form
so AX58u certainly isnt future proof at all
the only wifi 6 certified router from Asus as of now is AX6600 and Ax88u

my advice is, for now, if budget allow and your speed plan is high, get AC86u
since we are talking about Asus, any of these router are capable of aimesh
getting AC86u assure performance of your unifi and if really want/need AX router in the future
then get the better and newer AX router by the time comes and use 86u as a mesh node.

You are right. Maxis speedtest is giving me 510mbps. Wow their technician got me to change my router and signing up 2 years contract.  dry.gif
*
speedtest server difference, not maxis is better than tm
if it is tm being shitty then no matter what server u use, you get shit speed
instead of using speedtest, can use fast.com also
best yet, download something from google drive to get real world speed
and also, dont expect 500 mbps to be useful across all website or download
eventually like ur speedtest result, the speed may not be utilized for all website.

Thanks for the suggestions. Here's the speed test I've done using an HP Probook, the router was placed on the 2nd floor, the house is 20x70=1400sf?

Unifi Turbo 300mbps

2.4ghz WIFI (Beside DIR-850L) D@81.12mbps U@52.70mbps
2.4ghz WIFI (Downstairs) D@75.46mbps U@52.48mbps
5.0ghz WIFI (Beside DIR-850L) D@228.39mbps U@53.06mbps
5.0ghz WIFI (Downstairs) D@106.99mbps U@51.63mbps
LAN Port 1 (Direct DIR-850L) D@220.13mbps U@53.58mbps
LAN Port 2 (Direct DIR-850L) D@168.43mbps U@53.50mbps
LAN Port 3 (Direct DIR-850L) D@178.94mbps U@53.54mbps

Will it be better to replace the DIR-850L with TP-Link Deco M4 or Asus-AC86U to obtain a maximum speed of 200mbps via WIFI? My budget is below RM400.
*
you are new user of unifi right?
go tm mesh page and key in your inform, when tm staff call you ask them if can give you free m4
tm doing 2 yr contract on m4 for 15 per month.
AC86u is definitely better if compare to your existing but, that's for downstairs
for 1400 sqf, ur downstairs speed will be almost at maximum for 5 ghz within 3-5 meters of your router.
but, ur 850L is fully capable of produce maximum speed for lan and wifi 5 ghz beside it. so either your connection and configuration isnt tuned to best
or tm sux lol

if we were to work the budget, then ac86u isnt right choice for now
a single router cannot help you much being two storey house
if can get multiple asus router for aimesh good. but expensive.

however given asus history of supporting their device, buying asus router with aimesh its pretty worthy investment
when upgrade to new router the existing router can still used as mesh node
perhaps get lyra trio 2 pack 1st? still above your budget tho.
then when you want to upgrade, no problem getting better AC or even AX router, and ur lyra trio will still works as node.
OOKAS doing 499 promotion for lyra tiro at lazada for 7/7

if you get free m4, then good, no need to think about asus. free m4 comes with what, 3 packs?
then addition 1 or 2 or 3 m5, 1 router with 3-5 nodes i believe solve any issue you have, even your neighbors can connect with ease.
tp link mesh can connect maximun 6 nodes + router.
however, it limits your upgrade path as only deco line of product can be consider in future
like m5, m9 etc
so far tp link does not have router that can support both deco mesh and onemesh
meaning if getting a C7 in future, it cannot work with deco
