My friend's N70 had a similar problem, no alert and no vibration, tried to reset the phone but it still didn't work... Finally fixed it by flashing the firmware with NSU So it's probably a corrupted firmware or something

to type english, just press pencil and change your input la.. this is how i do also .. i am able to write english with that setting.. that is why i dare to post the solution

If you have an N93 or N73, you should definitely update your phone's firmware via the Nokia Software Updater. As I recently discovered, the newer firmware for the N73, for instance, addresses a plethora of issues that plagued its predecessor.

The download is about 78.4MB for the Nokia N73, entitled V 4.0735.3.0.2 / 4.0736.3.2.1. I really think this is a much-needed update for the phone. While I don't have a changelog that lists all the improvements in this release, some of the most-noticeable changes are listed below.

Changes/Improvements:

* Inclusion of Nokia Maps 1.0 (edition 1.2) for use with Bluetooth GPS devices
* Improvements to the Messaging App
* Improvements to Application Installers
* Updates to the Music Library & Music downloads
* Sleep mode stability
* Autostart issues fixed (finally)
* Improvements to Menu navigation
* Greater amount of free RAM available at startup

Miscellaneous Notes:

* You may (or may not) notice the last few points that I've written about above on the N73. However, on the older version of the firmware i.e. V 4.0727.2.2.1, with sleep mode enabled and the keypad locked, it was sometimes impossible to use the phone as the keypad refused to unlock itself! Thankfully, that seems to be fixed with this release.

* Autostart issues are another thing. As compared to the older version, the newer firmware finally lets you autostart apps, such as Keylocking utilities (the N73 doesn't have it built-in) or Profile Switchers etc. I'm really glad Nokia's addressed this issue.

* The phone seems to be much snappier than before and Menu navigation and UI response times are much better. A welcome addition!

* As mentioned above, there is definitely an improvement in the availability of free RAM while starting (and subsequently using) the phone. Previously, the amount of free RAM used to hover around 18-18.5MB, with all autostart apps loaded into memory. Now this figure's gone upto 19.5MB, which really is a substantial increase!

* I haven't yet checked for improvements in the Camera department. But I doubt if there will be any, especially since the N73 already has an excellent camera that's easily comparable to standard point-and-shoots. The only improvement that is, perhaps, necessary has to do with reducing the amount of jpeg compression.

* Before you update, please ensure that you've made a Backup via Nokia's PC Suite to save all messages, contacts, calendar events etc. You can later restore them after updating.

* If you have a Bluetooth GPS device and are worried about data transfer costs, download the Nokia Map Loader for your PC which lets you download maps from the internet for your phone. It's available free of charge, here.

can you give more details about these 3 updates?

bit it seems that the laggy contact list is still there after the update ... sigh

seems contact list typing or search list typing laggy issue is different from person to person. any updates?

Did u all format the MiniSD after format??Cz after format the installing fail will appier every startup..

i will try backup my messages n then try n see if the prob still there anot....sigh...anay idea wat else to do???

Try delete 1st..If still cannot then we find another way..

Compatibility With Upcoming N-Gage Application

It's a good news for its owner that N73 will be one of some Nokia N Series that will have compatibility with N-Gage this November.

N73 ME still rocks no matter how bad the night photography is. works swell for me so far( touching as much wood as i can lay my hands on)

erm... i wonder whether this happens to other N73.

Every time i restart my hp, my free RAM would be between 19MB to 20MB but after using it for a while, i checked my RAM back, the RAM is left with 14 to 15MB even thought all applications are closed.

I've just updated.

I found that the blue haze problem is still present, but is visibly reduced, and is significantly less when flash is on.

Good news..but how to play N-gage games with N73 keypad??

Sure broke the joystick..

So first , need to install nokiasoftwareupdater into our PC.
Then use that software to search and install FIRMWARE into N73 is it???

the latest firmware very good...the loading time is very much more faster already, i didn't face lag in menu, but opening gallery still need to load a while...

overall, the speed changed faster significantly

afta broke the joystick, go to any stationary shop, buy a super glue and glue it back. hahaha.... dats why my fren wif a SE phone said he did, he claims the joystick is workin fine afta stickin it back wif super glue. =.="

1. what is the difference between N73(whitecolor) and N73ME(blackcolor)? bcoz now N73ME got promotion, at RM1200+, got free 2GB memorycard. if both are same, cheaper to got for N73ME.

2. if i bought a new N73 or N73ME, should i update firmware first b4 even use it?

3. Do i need to install Nokia PCsuite first, before i can use nokiasoftwareupdater to update the firmware?
