Hmm, so at least VHF antenna is not totally useless, isn't it? For those that live very close to transmitter can just reuse back the antenna.
I use mine for FM radio.Digital TV Malaysia v2, Malaysian Digital Terrestrial TV

QUOTE(joshhd @ Nov 12 2019, 08:20 PM) Use back the big bulky VHF antenna to receive FM radio? whip antenna is useless in my house. i don't live near the town or radio/tv tower. even phone cellular strength is crappy in my house.Why..? Why not use some simple whip antenna or something? Just 1 long stick to get the job done? Or you do that for the sake of reusing the antenna? nothing beats outdoor antenna |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Nov 12 2019, 11:15 PM) Okay... So what FM radio device did you use to connect your VHF antenna? Some audio amps or something? Can take pic, of the antenna, cable, and the audio amp... I'm kinda curious though... Cuz I hardly see, or even never seen those who use TV antenna (VHF) to connect to a FM radio instead of TV. ![]() Connected to my Denon AVR. How is connecting outdoor antenna to a FM radio be a weird sight? In my grandma's house in rural area, even outdoor uhf/vhf antenna is useless. Need to use satellite. |

Is there anyone here who install outdoor antenna at the top of the roof of a 2/3 story building and have the in-wall RG6 cable pulled all the way to the ground floor tv? Is there a need for amplifier to boost the signal?
I've tried it on a new 2-story house and I find there is much loss of signal. An electrical installer told me it is common and a booster is a must. Is this true? |

QUOTE(joshhd @ May 20 2020, 08:46 PM) That RG-6 cable, is it newly installed? Do you use any cable splitter in between the cable connection from rooftop to the ground floor? New house, therefore new wiring. It is RG6.As long the cable is not too long (around 20 metres maybe), it's unlikely you would notice any signal loss. From rooftop to ground floor, around 20 metres, it depends on how you wire your cable. Show us a pic of your outdoor antenna. You said, new 2-story house.... How certain are you that the concealed cabling are RG-6 type, and not the 3C-2V or 5C-2V or others? Splitter no, splice yes. And also the triplexer (TV,FM,SAT) point at ground floor. I think the length reaches 20m. 15m at least. This antenna: https://shopee.com.my/product/46856649/740142904 This post has been edited by Skylinestar: May 21 2020, 10:27 AM |
