Hard to get a decent 5.1 set up with your budget unless you are willing to settle for Pro Logic sweat.gif

Umm... I was recommended an Altec Lansing MX5021 in another topic... Any thoughts on this?

Also, is the 2.5" difference of the BenQ E2400 HD monitor worth the almost 100% price increase compared to an E2200?

MX5021 is the 2.1 the with THX certification right? I like it's sub woofer, nice bass. I would imagine it would be nice for gaming smile.gif

But I know once I start buying amps and etc, the costs shoot up like crazy. Take into account the fact that I can probably only afford a one-time purchase of 500 or so on speakers, and about 700 to a 1000 for a full HD monitor and that's it.

I know how much audio gadgetry can bleed your wallet. I spent RM 650 on a pair of headphones, but at least that's a one-time purchase too.

I can't afford to get anything over a 1000 (a good amp will cost what, 2 to 4k? Not to mention woofers and tweeters).

Heck, I'm a full-time ministry staff so I earn less than a teacher... I can barely support my gaming habit, much less splurge on audiophilic delicacies. tongue.gif

DD/DTS Receiver + Satellite speakers + woofer (5.1) for RM500? 'cause that's my budget. tongue.gif

What's HTIB?

EDIT: Now I have another problem. I need Dolby Digital/DTS/Pro Logic II decoding. Is there a good set of speakers that does this as well (like the Logitech Z-680)? Or do I buy a separate decoder on top of the speakers to make full use of the 5.1? Or HDMI into monitor and monitor out to 5.1 speakers = automatic Dolby Digital/DTS/Pro Logic II decoding and what I hear is what I would hear with a full home home theatre system in terms of sound placement and signals and stuff?

I don't really understand the function of all the Dolby stuff too well. rclxub.gif
