you can resign anytime if u want if u got other job offer but must provide resignation letter to the company. notice period depend on the company.
not compulsory for u to finish the training.
contract depend on company i think.

I actually don't mind to consider a SL1M candidate but I'd like to ask him what has he achieved after six months of training. If no achievement, there is nothing to talk about.

In fact I've actually interviewed these types before. All I can say is I'm not impressed.

I see. But is a candidate without experience at all is seen better than those SL1M candidates?

To me, not necessarily.

A candidate without experience is like a blank piece of paper, untested and unknown. To me this is worse than a SL1M graduate. At least a SL1M graduate has undergone at least 6 months of work training. His performance is for all to see and judge.

On the other hand, fresh graduates are totally untested in real work. Many run away at the first and slightest obstacle and challenge. Coupled with high ego, hiring a fresh grad is a risky affair.

Thank you Sir for your insights. I am actually considering to accept a 12months Protege program (Previously SL1M) offer by a company with industry within my degree field. I've been unable to secure a job related to my study since I graduated in March this year. Entering into depressed and desperate phase, I just thought that it's a good offer

As per fellow bro Ipohmali70 has mentioned, its better to have experienced the training (even with Protege) than to have nothing at all to show. You can share your contribution and hopefully transition into permanent role. Most of those accepting proteges are noteworthy companies.

But here's your consideration, going in you need to excel, be open minded ready to learn, develop your people skills and seek for a mentor. Learn from seniors and be a great team member. I have known real life cases where proteges get accepted as permanent so it is possible.

I wish you a the best
