Especially when you know not much watching.

Lately see alot of Malay speaking channel got many view even trending. Like the spontan, the one with kelantan girls, tech channel like monalisa, wiser and even a few fishing channel got 200k+ views

I have one. Also have a mirror of it in Youku.

I do a lot of product and hotel reviews as well as some architecture/ID related content plus long term car reviews.

Unfortunately, he only does fingerstyles - which is super hard imo

Yeah, riding on the trend is the fastest way to go.
coupled with consistent hardwork, it'll be a combo.
However, one will need a channel genre before all these can happen.

From what I've read, we can't mix everything we do in one channel.
unless it's a Vlog.

I've shortlisted a few genres.
Some with long term growth that I can see myself doing.
They are:

1. Car Reviews
2. Guitar Covers

Although they seemed very very general and saturated all over YT,
imo, those are the genres I have full passion on - so it has less chance of becoming hangat-hangat tahi ayam project
just have to personalize the channel so can be unique.

got 1 tranny here upload game videos and livestream until gaduh with 1 ktard because that ktard expose him and than go usj8 balai make report.

If want instant hit channels... just publish vids that make fun of others.

Me and my wife got YT channel part time. Current subs 115k.

It take lots of hard work and dedication. Started of as hobby only.

some videos up to 1 million views.. now 225k subs.. socialblade estimate his earnings around 65k USD..

pretty impressive eh? he started late last year..

just choose any genre that you like..car review for me are not saturated..just that most of them abit boring..

but fastest growing genre would be mobile gaming, stream on facebook + youtube, or gamely.. later make fun clips + full video and put on youtube..like soloz

I wont sugarcoat things. Even with the current views the average income is 3-6k rm only per month from adsense.

The good thing is it keeps growing. Make extra money from product endorsement as well.

As for now once a week only. Maximum twice. Editing and looking for ideas takes time so its not easy.

Population in Malaysia alone is simply not enough to generate a decent income for you unless you spam create contents like crazy but you have to be really creative to maintain the stickiness or else you are wasting your time.

Language not necessarily MUST be english, you have a lot of successful local to their native language youtuber whom is big. The more important part is persistence, patient, effort, consistency.

You need 6 months to 2 years worth of time spend and focus on content related to what you want to present. Not easy, but if you got nothing to loose then it would be easier.

We consider slow d, some china channel that started like 6 months ago simply just talking about retirement and live in malaysia gain steady supporters many of this channel don't talk about trying to make money, they just do what they like most then as it grows to a point you can start consider posting ads for revenue.

If you dive in with making money in mind you'll most likely burn out.

Personally I dont have a channel but last time I used to do a website/blog/forum which did pretty well. Had 5000 registered users (3000 only active the others suspected bot). When I started the website had a general overview of the topic. It wasnt doing well.

Then when I started focusing into a nitch, it took off.

Like the fingerstyle guitar guy. If he did general music and guitar like every YouTuber but with a lower budget and less attractive appearance, he wont take off. He became famous because of his "fingerstyle" and low budget production. Seems more honest and genuine. No big cooperation, no celebrities, etc. You need to find why are you different.

Does not matter u speak engeris ka malayasia ka.. The most important is ur content.. Just look at drama spontan asif n yoe.. Kecek kelate tu. Aku yg sabah ni pun adore their vids. If u r female, easier to get more views, the easiest way is just be sexy on camera but that's pretty stupid decision if you want to start out by lowering ur dignity. And some like to upload stupid videos to be famous which is so pathetic.

Have been planning since 2014 still couldn't get the idea off the ground till now. Hopefully can get this going by 2020.

I think do kids channel can gain more views as children like to repeating watch the same thing over and over again.

So basically 1 children can watch few times of the same video thus generating more views.

That's pretty near to 1k subs already.

Thing about YT channel is,
we have to find our base audience.
You're lucky if you are already famous in other social platforms.
But can be quite hard when starting from scratch imo.

Don't forget to drop your links should you start YT channel one day.
With your knowledge, you can skip most mistakes normal people like me would make

Yeah, I figured I have to do things I always have interest on.
At least can avoid risks of a halfway project for doing things that doesn't spark the joy in me.

Also, like you said, have to keep reminding own self for persistence & consistency.
I've met Cardock few days ago in his workshop, his advice: "no matter what haters throw at you, just keep uploading."

Kids nowadays is the next generation of YT viewers.
So, if we can catch these kids' attention now,
we can definitely ride the trend through their teen years for sure.

Just like our times dulu with those 'Spanar Jaya', 'Senario', 'Gerak Khas', and some other big Disney movies.
We would still enjoy at least a little of those content if shown to us now.
