Question: If I connect the modem/BTU directly to a Switch, then connect the Switch to the Ethernet wall socket in the picture (which connect it to a Router at TV area), will that work?

Im assuming your switch is managed switch then it will work. otherwise u still a router to assign IP.
Unless u are using Fixed IP

Wait but then i dont think Managed Switch has ability to "dial-up" the broadband.. So u still need a router anyhow.

Can but it will be useless as it will not have internet.
Only connection after the router will have internet
