In any case, I just wonder if they would ever tell where did the monsters came from. Judging from the trailer, I doubt the story would be like Godzillas where the main character is a scientist.

I wont doubt that there will definitely be a monster(s) shown in the movie. In JJ Abrams we trust.

I liked TC_Boy review. He wrote just like I imagine I myself would have expected. I mean, yea...the whole shaky camera view might be uncomfortable, but this is something new! Of course, with the exception of Blair Witch, but I have much confidence in JJ Abrams in making the story much more gripping.
I suppose if this movie were on a standard movie camera view, we'd all pass this movie as just another monster flick, but with this different approach, we could actually imagine and experience ourselves what would it be like on the scene of the event. Mind you, this requires viewers to have a great deal of imagination. Despite the not so encouraging reviews, I'm still eager to watch the movie tonight. Probably watch it 2 times back to back just to get the whole story again....hehehe! RROOAAARRR~~~ |

P/S: Did anyone stayed to watch the credits? Heard there's a spoiler after the credits.
I mean, with this sudden story smack right in the middle of the city, there's bound to be a sequel to explain the origins of the monster(s) right? |

I think the monster art was done by someone who watched the pre-production movie. But yea, I bet its the darn closest resemblance to the real monster. I was actually expecting to have more than 1 monster.
Anyways, can't seem to find any reliable image for the minion monsters. Looking at the trailers, the creepiest part would probably be: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « By the way, what you make of the 2 lumps on both its cheeks? Brains or balls? QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jan 17 2008, 04:31 PM) Told you guys its Blair Witch Project. So let's just skip this movie. You'll be dizzy after watching. Sayonara. Hey, give the movie some credit....its innovative for its style. Probably you're just too old for this kinda stuff. I can only imagine how bad this movie going to be on pirated CDs. Word of advice, never watch this movie on pirated....it'll be 10X worst. hahaha! In defense, I'm sure the sound effects would blast any expectations. |

QUOTE(TC_Boy @ Jan 18 2008, 12:59 AM) Haha! So true! Or perhaps next time for Cloverfield 2, they'll make it using camera phones. How cool is that?!Anyways, just finished watching the 10pm show at MBO melaka. After the abrupt end, I saw one dude clapping while the others make a weird face..."finish like dat aah?". Its true enough, that from this show there will be two party.....one loving the whole new concept, while another party will hate this movie. I fall under the love category. I mean, if a story is talked/discussed over sooo much before/during/after the movie...then its definitely worth my 8 bucks! Even after watching it, I'm still craving for more about the story and the monster. Not that the movie was perfect enough, but it leaves you wanting for more....and definetely hoping for the next sequel to the story. Heck, they might even make a TV spinoff from this title. Obviously, they already have comics for it..... Regarding the characters, I felt that they played their role so well. Its truly feels as if the shootage was real and the people were real. Its was worth to get unknown actors to play here, because it puts the sense of true story in the whole movie. Seriously, when you first watched Blair Witch, most of us would think that the whole footage was real. Thats their objective of this story too. Only that when viewers realize that its a monster, the sense of realism kinda fade off abit because everyone knows monsters dont exist.............or do they? Thx JJ Abrams!! You rock! |

In a few days, we'll get to see the box office results for the movie. I'm also hoping to see if JJ Abram have some major anouncements to make. My gut is telling me there's more coming for this title. I'm sure JJ Abram has set in his mind to make this monster a household name for the Amerikhans, so who knows?
I'm considering to catch this movie again this weekend, just to see the audience's reaction after the movie ends. |

QUOTE(Cruzer @ Jan 18 2008, 11:48 AM) Actually, you're the one of the few. Most of us who know DOOM game loved that part. I mean, that part alone gave me the chill and excitement I once had when I was small. And they executed it with just the right amount of action. You should try and pick up the game to appreciate what the producers are doing with the movie laa.Anyway, back to the topic. I think JJ Abrams can still salvage a way to bring back those who didnt like to movie in the first place. This is a long shot, but imagine if there is another installment to the CLOVERFIELD story and they're releasing it next month? But this time, its not from the viewer of the people of NYC, instead its a real movie view. Now that would have been truly amazing. I've been following up to the whole CLOVERFIELD events and event the clues spread around the Internet, and it seems that this story is evolving as if its happening right now. Seriously, if you checked ROB's myspace, there's already his blog post about him moving to Japan, as well as his surprise birthday party invites being passed out to people. Plus, official statement from TRAGUAUTO company about several incidents thats been happening to their sites in the ocean. Amazing is all I can say, because there has never been a marketing strategy this brilliant made for a movie like this. Like I said, CLOVERFIELD isnt over yet. We've seen the movie, yes....but expect more. QUOTE(Cruzer @ Jan 18 2008, 01:46 PM) ahh DOOM fan, the FPS scene was actually the only scene i was looking forward to in that movie.
dont get me wrong , im an avid FPS fan(videogames only) infact its the only genre of game i play (sadly) . i played all the DOOM from 1 to 3 , particularly liked 3. but that scene was cheesy at best.i dont let the love for my FPS genre blind me for how horrible it was. and who else would prefer » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Okay, lets just both agree that I like cheese and you dont. Okay, okay....back to Cloverfield. The blowup scene was down right creepy, but cool non-the-less. They just killed off a character no one could attach to, cept for HUD (poor HUD). I do wonder if there's any alien that popped out of that poor girl's remain. On a serious note, I think JJ Abrams has the direction of this movie to cover not only in the cinemas but in the Internet as well. You guys remember the Matrix franchise? QUOTE(wiNd @ Jan 18 2008, 06:00 PM) DISCOVERY!! Cool findings. Though I'm abit sceptical, but its no surprise for them to continue with sequels. JJ Abrams has every intention to make this monster a household name for US. He definitely wouldn't kill it off in the first movie. the soundbyte at the end of credits.........i think we have an ending/sequel » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « "Its still alive!!!" |

QUOTE(mosai @ Jan 18 2008, 09:41 PM) new message on the T.I.D.O wave I honestly doubt that. I'm more keen to believe that TAGRUATO is behind the discovery of the beast. TIDOwave probably released it or just didnt know anything about it. Horns down might me the sound of war horns people made during old wars. "Horns down. If we go quiet, it won't be permanent. May the great mother protect her servants in their greatest time of need. She guides our hands." Which makes me think, is it possible that the tido wave is actually behnid the monster.Cuz they hate Chuai Station and boom the station is gone, and now Ganu is in U.S and b4 u know it BOOOOM New York is gone. |

QUOTE(Cruzer @ Jan 18 2008, 11:49 PM) i was hoping there would be a scene in the city where some random japanese dude runs along and screams GODZILLA!!. Actually, there was! When the group was running against the crowd in an alley, a Japanese dude was warning HUD of the danger in front in Japanese language. HUD said "I'm sorry, I can't understand what you're saying." That's basically a homage of Godzilla.i know i know its not godzilla, but dammit it would be funny as hell |
