Should be able to get some nice boutique pedals for RM500 per pedal...
The Monte Allum mods for MT2 are great, and should be able to get a used Keeley MT2 for that price too, these hot rodded MT2s make the stock one look like a toy. A new Keeley MT2 is around RM650 though, highly recommended. Check them out: www.robertkeeley.com A delay is almost a must, depending on what floats your boat, look around for the DD6 (digital delay) or an AD9 (analogue delay), these should be under RM500. Read up and listen to as much clips as possible on the difference between analogue and digital delays, it will help you alot on your decision. Modulation, depends whether you would like one in your sound. More common ones that comes to mind are chorus, phaser, and flanger. It really depends on which one you prefer. But I find that chorus is the most useful one, the EHX Small Clone has good reviews, lush sounding chorus and works great with both distortion and clean, give it a shot. I think you would be able to afford a new Keeley MT2, as both of the other pedals that I mentioned are below RM500. |

QUOTE(dammittt @ Jul 9 2007, 11:15 AM) Err.. I'm purchasing some effect pedals (2 or 3) I dont know what kind of effects and which brand should I get Distortion is a must right ? And modulation ? Songs that I play recently are like Muse, Radiohead, Deftones, Nirvana etc (Sentimental + abit Rock) Guys please help me this newbie.. Write down the price if possible.. Budget each pedal not over RM500 Thank you thank you thank you For medium, you can get maybe a DS1 or if u got xtra cash DS2, For heavy stuff, or higher gain screeching treble, can go for MT2 or other pedal with Metal on their name, For cool slightly warm vintage, there is absolutely no compromise, the Ibanez TS808, a bit high in pricing (around RM700 but worth every tone you get) But if you just wanna play rock and dont have the art of hearing diffrent2 effect sounds and behave with your amp, an DS1 is ok already... If you want got 1 ZW-44 here selling for around RM400....i wonder where is the guy at??? This post has been edited by antonio: Jul 9 2007, 05:27 PM |

Boss DS-1, a delay or reverb unit, a Dunlop or Vox wah (havent tried the Vox wah before, but looks pretty neat. Has a small bag to carry it as well. Lol).

Since you're a beginner and have quite a diverse range of sounds you want to try out, I STRONGLY suggest getting a decent Multi-FX pedal.
The new Digitech RP150 or RP250 (With an Expression Pedal) should be around your price range, and they deliver quite a good range of tones for you to play with...... Maybe the Line6 FloorPod could also be in your budget...... call up CK Music (Their number is in our Music Shop/Jamming Studios sticky thread) and see how much a FloorPod is going for......... Of course, there's always the Zoom 2.1u.......... |

for those songs you play, i think a DS-1 would do the job nicely, for a cheap price too
like those who posted here, you wanna get a reverb and a delay to replicate the sounds.. OR you can just get a multi fx This post has been edited by SweetTooth: Jul 9 2007, 07:25 PM |

im never too fond of the DS-1.
but a cheaper one to really try out would be the danelectro fab distortion, RM85 only. bentley has no more stock of it. |

wow 500 each for a pedal.
You can get a Boss gt8 or Line 6 Podxt Live second hand with a little top up. I'd do that, personal choice though. |

the danelectro fab metal is actually pretty solid for its price
i just received mine(bought for a friend) and tested it. i wasn't expecting too much out of it but it surely is a great starter pedal thats not really for metal but good enough for a first. |

this might not be what you want, but with that kind of budget (RM500 per pedal) how about getting a decent combo amp with footswitch?

Thanks for all the comments
By the way I already have a Zoom G2.1U (Selling It), Althought it's not that good compared with all those recommended but still dont think I'll get a new multi effects. Oh ya I collecting stompboxes So maybe I'll get a DS-1 or DS-2 first.. My friend already has a MT-2 wont get the same thing.. Will Metal Core ML-2 sound too heavy? It seems nice. And maybe a Boss Super Chorus.. About Wah and Delay and Whammy and bla bla bla.. Do more survey |

so what if your friend has a MT-2 and you dont want to get the same thing?
your friend also has hair, 2 arms etc...wanna amputate? the MT-2 is a good enough pedal and you can get lots of different sounds. and just cos your friend has it doesnt mean he will sound like you. |

the mt2 is very versatile because you can really fine tune your sound with it, has many options

Agree with Everdying. The Metal Zone, as much as we knock on it, still is a versatile pedal with lots of room to tweak and adjust.
Since your friend has a MT-2, try it out, but with different settings and see that it'll sound totally different. Also, I would STRONGLY recommend a Wah pedal..... a necessary tool in any guitarist's arsenal. |
