Malaysian banks -> Instarem/bigpay/TransferWise-> Sg bank > IBKR Sg Bank account (local transfer in SGD) -> convert at spot rate inside IBKR. I am basically using money changer rates or close to money changer rates using those fintech.

*
wondering will SG banks question for 3rd party when u perform the step instarem/bigpay/transferwise -> SG bank?

and may i know the reason why u dont just instarem/bigpay/transferwise (in SGD) -> SG IBKR?

Want to ask something about stock transfer. If I transfer out my shares to other broker, does all the cost gets transferred as well? Will I still be able to see an accurate portfolio for the unrealized profit/loss?
*
the cost of the stock will definitely remain the same..

eg. if u buy SBUX (Starbucks) @ 74.00 through broker A.. u can't expect the cost of ur purchase to become 70.00 when u transfer it out to broker B right?

as for the layout of portfolio, it really depend on the broker that u planned to transfer to.. u may have to check with them in this case to be sure whether they are able to capture ur cost and display it in their platform

to be safe, record ur own transactions

Nope. No questions asked.
Reason is I want to avoid 3rd party transfer which have more scrutiny.
*
i see..

another quick one.. does that mean its fine to TT from m'sian bank (acc under my own name) in MYR.. exchange into USD.. direct to IBKR in USD? IBKR acc under my own name as well.. since there's no 3rd party involvement here..

and i do understand this step have to go through the crappy exchange rate and high bank charges

you can send usd directly to sg bank...if account is multi currency, it's kept as usd... if not, bank will auto convert to sgd at their expensive fx rate
*
does this concept apply to direct withdrawal from ibkr (in USD) to m'sian banks (in MYR after conversion using bank's rate)?

assuming the account holder for both ibkr and the bank is the same person/name

(not necessary apply to usd only, can also be other currency.. eg. withdraw sgd ibkr to transferwise sgd account)

Theoretically can if you have tw borderless account. Do you have tw birderles account.
Yes can. Iu cannot use instarem sg as there's no way you can open.
Option to withdraw
1. Tw
2. CIMB
3. Direct transfer from IB but it's the most expensive way.
*
yes got it.. just that never try to withdraw directly from ibkr to transferwise.. worry will run into problem as transferwise beneficiary account is obviously not under my own name.. so would like to clarify if anyone engage successfully in this method

for withdrawal option no.3, what u meant by expensive is the bank's exchange rate right? since ibkr doesnt charge any withdrawal fee for once a month

i click new application then it redirect to https://gdcdyn.interactivebrokers.com/Unive...orce_w2l_lead_2

Then after register it said continue with my email.
Those upload doc is upload to ibkr?

I received 2 email, and today TSG called me from UK but the people not professional i was doubting a scam call.
TSG : ask me if i registered?
Me: i not sure, i filled the form and i received email, should i fill up the ibkr email or wait TSG instruction? what is next step?
TSG : Did you receive email,
ME : the email from ibkr or from tsg? i received tsg but no instruction.
TSG : i will send you another email, thanks

Then she said will resend me... i received below

Now i assume need to fill up from the email ibkr sent which about account login verification
*
basically u sign up through TSG.. from here, it will re-direct u to sign up at IBKR (which is the part where u'll need to provide the most of ur details and information).. once done, u will be require to submit ur ID and documentation.. after approval, the final step will require u to fund the account in order to unlock the trading restriction

kindly note that all these while u're only dealing with IBKR, not TSG.. as long as u start ur sign up at TSG in the first place and follow their link to IBKR, u should be fine (and classified as a referral from TSG to IBKR)

u will only receive TSG's login credential (username and password) through email after everything at IBKR side is completed.. by then u can decide whether to use TSG or IBKR platform for ur investment.. different rate and commission though

Hi Jas, i done with the link.

Then i received email to verify my acc, i go in and fill up all the option such as income, which market i want to trade, network, base currency etc.
Then it goes back on my previous post which is confirm mobile number, and funding.

The request to submit ID and documentation come from where? i didnt saw option for me to upload or send this. Is from email or will from website?
The funding is from website as well right? i dint click it through.. meaning i wait it approve only i fund right?

"u will only receive TSG's login credential (username and password) through email after everything at IBKR side is completed.. by then u can decide whether to use TSG or IBKR platform for ur investment.. different rate and commission though"
majority of here register and use ibkr right? for lower rate, TSG just reg for avoid no trade?
*
yes ID to be uploaded on the site itself..

there should be an option to upload on the 'Final Steps to a Completed Application' page?

myself does not use TSG.. only sign up through them.. after that, everything on IBKR

cant navigate and it only show me the final page.
Maybe i missed it infront for the upload version.
I wonder should i click cancel application and if i able to register again.. or i just wait for them to contact.
*
noticed u had verify ur mobile number..

how about ur proof of address? it should be on the same page.. if i recall correctly the upload of ID should be on the same page as well.. did u try to scroll down?

in any case, try not to cancel the application.. try to instead get support from TSG regarding ur issues.. email, phone call, etc

nope that is the entire page, i dont have ID and other page. Maybe i missed if the page is infront.
I didnt cancel, and sent email so far no respond yet.

TSG send an email ask me to do funding but my ibkr not yet approved, so maybe i should wait they approve it only i fund?

*
if u had received email from TSG requesting u to fund the acc, its a good indication that ur IBKR acc has already been set-up.. try to login to ur IBKR acc using the username and password u'd created.. if u're able to login, then its quite obvious the acc has been created.. u just need to fund it and u're ready to go (but please make sure first the IBKR acc has been created and u're able to login)..

as im typing, i suddenly recall the submission of ID might be required after ur login to IBKR.. not before as we'd previously mentioned.. i hope i didnt recall wrongly.. and hope that helps

I saw TSG email ask me fund it.
I login IBKR and seems my account is done.

But till today i never submit my ID and they never ask.
Currently i am on this page, am i doing the right thing? should i worried on the ID submission as they nvr ask from me.

So now i need to fund it with SG CIMB ?
The sending institution should i input CIMB Bank Singapore?
The account is my CIMB SG acc number?
The account nickname will auto change once i input the sending institution. Should i change anything?
*
congrats on getting the ibkr account done.. since they didnt ask for the ID, then so be it.. not as if u purposely submitted a false personal info beforehand i assume?

and yes, feel free to fund ur ibkr account now that it'd been set-up.. sending institution is cimb sg (please input full official bank name) if u're funding it through there.. account number is ur cimb sg account number.. nickname i put my full name (as per both bank and ibkr account)

yea agree with sorting the ID for withdrawal purposes..

thats why there's mentioned unless the user purposely went on to submit a false one, then thats really out of our hands here..

generally, as genuine as one can be, if ur bank details match the one provided to ibkr, shouldnt be a problem

Hi, I just applied IBKR trading account via TSG. It's under review process but there's a section saying We review funded account applications first.

Do i have to fund before account approval? Is it advisable to do so?

Also, when and where (which email address) do i submit the documents for approval?
*
with regards to funding.. no, not necessary to fund first before account opening.. u can fund after ur account has been opened..

but then again, its also possible to fund it before account opening.. so its up to u really..

as for the submission of documents, isnt the step for this included during the application process?

There is a section asking to email your digital documents to newaccounts@interactivebrokers.com email address with your account number as the email subject. Is this the place i should submit my docs?

The docs to submit are passport/NRIC and utility bill? Is that correct?
*
i couldnt be sure about the email part.. but i recalled for my case, i did not email them anything with regards to account opening.. my document were uploaded during the application process on the portal itself (which i find it weird that u're not the only one i've came across so far that have difficulties engaging this part)

i submitted passport and bank statement

Strange that I don't see any step in the application process to upload any documents. In which part do you upload the documents if you can still remember?
*
yea strange..

i remembered that'll be the last section.. the application concluded after submission.. i wish to be more specific but thats as far as i could recall..

in any case, u can still contact TSG up to enquire or guide through the submission of document

ok i can see the upload documents button now....i tried uploading to IBKR SG and prompted to login, but everytime after login, it brings me to this Fax/Mail Sending Instructions page again and if you click Upload Documents button, if redirects to login page again. This loops again and again...not sure where it goes wrong.

strange yet again.. i dont remember i get to choose where to upload it to (sg, hk, aus, etc)..

but anywhere, im not sure how to go about the looping problem u faced.. what happened to me previously was an encounter of auto logout the moment i login.. every single time.. that happened when im at home.. i managed to solve it by login on another pc/mac in my office.. ur issue may differ from mine but feel free to try.. hope it helps
